Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Thursday again and time to be thankful…………..I have a pile of thankfuls today – and I also will share the poem I got from Angel Sammy for PART TWO of today’s post which will be Poetic Thursday.    But being THANKFUL is first on my agenda and if you’d like to share what you are thankful for – just click the badge above and head to our host Brian’s blog to link up.    We’d love to see your “thankfuls”!

One thankful I have is that my Mom has FINALLY finished hemming the latest quilt my Aunt Carol made for her.    Took Mom a while – between everything else she does around here and her arthritis in her hands, it took longer than expected.   But the quilt is a beauty………..I like it – it’s so SOFT!

Mom likes the backing material too – it’s a nice compliment to the bright squares on front.   Mom took a photo from our foyer of the railing where just a FEW of the quilts my Aunt Carol made for her hang.   The others are in other spots around our house – on the back of the couch, on the master bedroom bed and the guest room bed, in Mom’s office, in Dad’s office AND I have two baby quilts that I inherited from Angel Sammy too.    My talented Aunt has decorated our house for many years with her pawsome talent.   Anyway, THANK YOU AUNTIE CAROL!

I’m also thankful that after a dry spell of NOT wanting to go outside (maybe too hot, maybe the scent of bear and fox, maybe just because I didn’t FEEL like it!) I am again going outside.    I seem to actually  be afraid of wearing my harness for some reason nobody including me understands.    So I’ve been out twice so far with no harness but both parents are tagging along keeping a TIGHT reign on my wandering.

As always I’m thankful that my friend Brian has a THANKFUL THURSDAY Hop he hosts because we can ALL talk about our thankfuls!

NEXT UP – Angel Sammy’s Poetic Thursday – I got the following email from him from the Rainbow Bridge last night………..

♥♥♥

Greetings Friends and Poets!

Time for us to share our once a week poetic exchange.    Did you use the photo I gave you last Thursday as inspiration?   I hope you did and that you will let us know you wrote a poem for us to read – just let us know in comments.   It’s so much fun to do a poem based on a photo – lots of you have written to tell Teddy that and he’s keeping me informed.    That makes me HAPPY!

Here’s the photo that I gave you as inspiration for this week.    My Mom loves this photo because it reminds her of (her words) “THE OLD DAYS”.

“My Weekly Treat”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©July 24, 2019

Every week after baseball practice I sit on this stool

My brother and the rest of the team go to the neighborhood pool

My favorite treat though isn’t getting all wet

It’s having a banana split – then I’m feeling “all set” !

I always ask Miss Ginny for extra nuts and whipped cream

All week long I have this great dream………..

I’m King of the Soda Fountain and Ginny fixes me a treat

Malteds, sundaes, shakes, and other things to eat

The burgers here are super and same for the fries

This place is heaven on earth – I tell no lies!

Mom always wonders why on Thursday night at dinner

She has to force me to eat and swears that I look thinner

The truth is I’m up to my eyeballs in soda fountain delights

Then I eat her dinner just to please her and have a stomach ache all night!

Soda fountains were big back in my Mom’s day and they were always cool inside and smelled delicious from the minute you walked in the door.    There’s an old fashioned ice cream place in our town and one of Mom’s favorite things is once in a great while to treat herself with a dose of happy memories by having a banana split – the REAL deal!

Now I have a new photo for you to think about and come up with a poem to share for NEXT Thursday.

Yikes…….that’s a whole lot of walking woofies!     Will be fun to do a poem about this photo don’t you think?     Do your best……………then come here and share…………..I’ll be super proud of you especially if you’ve never tried to write a poem before…………YOU CAN DO IT.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Have a great week friends…..I’ll see you again next week….want to feel good?   HUG SOMEONE!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy……..I love seeing you every week.   Please keep watch over me so I don’t do anything to disappoint Mom and Dad!

Love, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

The first THANKFUL Thursday of the new year.   I am thankful that I’m starting out the new year HERE with my Mom and Dad in a cozy house with a big yard.   I’m thankful that the tree that popped up in our library a few weeks ago and that I could lie under and watch blinking lights is now resting in a big bag in the basement until Mom and Dad put it back up for ME next year.   I’m also as always thankful for all my friends – I realized when we took all the Christmas cards down that I got WAY WAY more of them than my Mom and Dad did (!)

Angel Sammy celebrated his birthday at the Bridge yesterday with all his Angel friends but I’m thankful he still found time to send me his poem for Poetic Thursday.    I hope you are going to start off the new year by participating in Thoroughly Poetic Thursday inspired by the fun photos he finds for us to use as inspiration!

Here’s the email I got from him last night!

♥♥♥

Happy New Year my friends!

Hope you all are ready for another exciting year – we at the Bridge are of course going to continue to work behind the scenes to keep you all happy and safe.    We’ll continue to see you in your dreams as always.

So did any of you write a poem for this week’s photo?   I thought it was a sweet and fun photo and I hope you did too.  If you did write a poem, let us know in the comments here on Teddy’s blog and give us your link – we’ll visit you and read your poem.   If you didn’t write one – why not make this the year of the poem for yourself.  Be creative – have some fun.

Here’s the photo I gave you last week to inspire this week’s poem.   My poem follows……….

“Wheeeee!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    January 2, 2019

Momma, Momma, Momma – just look at me!

I’m skating like a big girl and I’m not even three!

My baby shoes are scuffed from taking a few falls

But Momma’s always there to pick me up when I give a call.

My dimpled knees have a scar or two that will be there when I’m old

When my own little girl has roller skates and my stories are being told!

Of scooting along like the big kids on skates and screaming with delight

Of my Momma picking me up for a hug and squeezing me ever so tight.

These innocent and wonderful times I hope I remember all my days

I hope they all flash before my eyes as I pass into the eternal haze……..

Ta Da!    That little girl has such joy – I started out wanting to capture it but it kind of turned into a reflection as I wrote.   That often happens when I do my poems.    I have an idea but as I put it into words it takes a direction all its’ own.    That’s one of the GREAT things about writing though !!!

I have a photo for you for NEXT week’s poem.    Please give it a try.   I promise you will enjoy it.    Poetry takes so many forms.    You can choose your own.   Freeform – rhyme or no rhyme……just let the photo take you somewhere in your imagination and put that feeling into words.    When I found this photo below I had all kinds of thoughts…….Is this guy wondering how on earth he wound up with this job?    And what IS his job?!?!?!

Anyway, have some fun with it and share your poem with all of us NEXT Thursday.    I’ll send mine to Teddy to share with you!    Have a good week…………full of smiles and lots of HAPPY.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love to all of you………..Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy………………….I wish I could have spent your birthday with you yesterday – we would have been QUITE a team wouldn’t we?

Love, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

I’m thankful that it’s Thursday so I can not just talk about my Thankfuls this past week but because it’s also the day I share what Angel Sammy has sent to me from the Rainbow Bridge for his Thoroughly Poetic Thursday post.    That’s something to be thankful on its’ own!    If you want to join in the thankful Hop – click Brian’s badge above and you’ll be IN!    Share what you’re thankful for – you’ll be glad you did.

Today I am thankful that the sun has returned.   Florence’s aftermath which was by the time she got here merely a lot of rain and not so much wind was just two days of ICKY and WET and we certainly can handle that compared to all those who had to endure and still ARE enduring what Florence did to them.   We pray for them every day.   We hope the water recedes and that rebuilding will begin……….ONWARD.

This past week we learned that we lost a good friend – sweet Madi the Diva……she was needed at the Bridge and we are all sad about her parting but know she’s in good hands with all the Angels taking care of her there.    We have been praying that her Mom and Dad will think of her being well looked after just as they did for 16 years.   At the end of this blog post we will have information on the Blog Hop that our friend and Madi’s long-time boyfriend Raz from Friends Furever is hosting on September 26th.    It will be fun – it’s what Madi wanted!

Now let me share what I got from Angel Sammy!

♥♥♥

Hello Poetry Fans!

Another week has passed since we last met to exchange poetry fun – a sad week because Madi made her journey up to the Rainbow Bridge where she was hugged and hugged and hugged by me and SOOOOO many other Angels too numerous to list here.   Let’s just say she is missing her home but knows this is where life DOES go on for all of us.    She makes a beautiful Angel as you can imagine.

I understand that Madi and her Mom are going to continue writing poetry together and pawticipate in our weekly gatherings still which is WONDERFUL because we always have looked forward to her poems.  They are fabulous.   Now here is the photo that I gave you all last week for inspiration for this week’s poem – I REALLY love the mood of this painting don’t you?    I hope you wrote a poem to share with us?   If so, please tell us you did and leave us your blog link OR write your poem in our comments – either way we would love to see what you wrote……………

“Once Upon A Time…..”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell      September 20, 2018

By candlelight we would gather ’round

In cozy room’s glow there’d be no sound

Until Mother would open the magical book

To pick out a story then she’d give us a look

The look said “settle in, and I’ll take you away!”

We’d eagerly wait to hear what she’d say

“Now we’ll begin” then the words would take flight

As the story she told brought magic to the night…..

The time we would spend there in our own little space

Mother weaving a tale bringing a smile to each face

When at last she would say “and now that is the end”

We knew next off to bed each of us she would send

What dreams we would have from the stories she told…..

Childhood memories are FRESH, although now I am old………..

I have to admit, when I was a kitty living with Mom and Dad, sometimes my Mom would weave a little tale about how much she loved me and how happy she was she found me and I really did love “story time”.    I know some of you still do have story night with your Mom and I think that’s wonderful.    Teddy rarely sits still long enough for Mom to make up a story for him but they are close in other ways.     I hope the flavor of the joy of storytelling came through in my poem!!

Now – here’s your photo inspiration for NEXT week – I hope it brings some ideas to mind.

This one should be a great one to write a poem about………………so I will look forward to seeing YOURS next week!   I hope it’s a date?    Poetry is a lot of fun to write…….give it a try.

Love to you all, Angel Sammy

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Thank you Angel Sammy!    I like your poem this week.    I think I’ll give story-telling a try.    Mom is always trying to get me to listen to her and if you liked it – I bet I will too!

Now I want to share some information with all of you about the special Blog Hop for Madi………………….it’s going to be hosted by Raz of Friends Furever but here are the details on how to join in the fun (yes I said fun – Madi wanted a FUN event for her farewell)…………

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Thankful Thursday…..then…..a poem!

Time to share what we’re all Thankful for this Thursday morning…………All you have to do if you’d like to join in the THANKFUL Blog Hop hosted by Brian, is click on their graphic above, and fill out the LINKY TOOL with your blog address so we can visit you!!    We were supposed to get some snow yesterday and while we did get a “dusting” – it was kind of like a sugar coating rather than a real snow event.   SO, I’m thankful for that because (1) I was able to go outside without wading through a lot of snow and (2) my Mom and Dad’s new refrigerator was able to be delivered up our long and steep driveway!     Refrigerator is good for all of us – my leftovers go in there as well as my Mom and Dad’s foodables supply.    I’m also very thankful that my Dad is willing to hunt down all my missing ping pong balls and springs every single morning.   I have four ping pong balls and about eight springs which I play with ALL DAY LONG.   The balls wind up behind/under furniture or curtains and the springs I carry around the house in my mouth and leave them EVERYWHERE.    Dad retrieves them for me and puts them in a nice pile so I can “redistribute” them when I play.    What a Dad………

I’m also thankful that even with winter weather and internet outages, etc., my Angel brother Sammy is still able to get good wi-fi from the Bridge because he DID transmit his Thoroughly Poetic Thursday poem to me last night……….it was in my inbox this morning………..and here it is for your viewing pleasure!

Time For Some Poetry!

Hello from the Rainbow Bridge my friends…………..I think we will see some totally fun poetry today because the photo I gave you for your “poetic inspiration” last week was one that almost everyone who reads our poems thought would be VERY inspirational!    It certainly was for me – as many of you know, my very last day here on earth before I flew to the Bridge was spent visiting all my friends one last time via a hot air balloon.   It was an amazing day hosted by my friends Easy and Madi with help from Dory and I will NEVER forget it.

I wore a special outfit for the adventure!

Anyway, that’s why I picked a photo of hot air balloons for this week’s PHOTO INSPIRATION and I hope you wrote a poem to share with us based on this photo!   The poem I wrote is below the photo.

“Up And Away”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, January 17, 2018

Flying can be tiring if you’re using your own wings

But flying in a balloon makes your heart truly SING

No work required – just float and see the world from up above

You leave the earth behind but you carry with you the love

I had my final balloon trip in December twenty sixteen

I thought it was the end for me – I’d never again be seen

But I soon found out that if we always feel love deep within our heart

Letting go of earthly ties doesn’t mean love stops, it’s just a brand new start

From the Rainbow Bridge or Heaven all Angels wait for the day to come

When you float up to meet us in your own balloon and we again will be as ONE.

Now my friends, did you write a poem today based on the photo I gave you last week of the balloons?    If you did, please put your blog link in comments here – we can come read your poem there OR if you prefer, write your poem in our comments and we will read it here.    If you didn’t write a poem – please think about doing so next week – share your thoughts, your creativity, your fun spirit with all of us here.   I will continue to post a PHOTO every week for those of you who want to participate!    I look forward to Thursdays because of poetry and I hope you do too!    Here’s the photo I picked out as your inspiration for NEXT WEEK’s poem!

Isn’t that a HAPPY photo?   I thought so too………………so think about it – look at it during the week – and try to write your very own poem about it to share with us next Thursday!

In the meantime…..this is your weekly Poet signing off!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy – I loved your poem…………it made me a little weepy but that’s only because I wish that I could have lived with you right here, right now, in this house with Mom and Dad.   We gingers would RULE!

Happy Thursday everyone………………….and try writing a little poetry for next week…………….I know Angel Sammy would like it if you tried!

REACH FOR THE SKY – WRITE A POEM!

Love, Teddy
