Bakin’ With Terrible Ted The Pirate!

“Arrrrrgh!  Ahoy Mateys!   ‘Terrible Ted here with a bit of pirate cookery in honor of:

MEOW LIKE A PIRATE DAY

Well you know today is a big day in the cat world so I HAD to break with tradition to have a “bacon-ish” recipe and give you a hearty PIRATE-APPROVED recipe instead.    This is yummy and I think you’ll forgive me for not having something with bacon in it just this once!!

 

Pirate’s Pork Chops

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

4 thick (3/4 inch) pork chops

1 15-oz. can pineapple chunks with juice

1/4 cup golden syrup

1/4 cup ketchup

1/2 teaspoon curry powder

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

3 tablespoons raisins

DIRECTIONS

• Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and fry on each side until browned, about 3 minutes per side. Pour in the liquid from the pineapple chunks, saving pineapple for later. Stir in the golden syrup and ketchup and season with curry powder, ginger, salt and pepper. Reduce heat to medium, cover and simmer for 30 minutes, or until pork chops are tender.

• When the pork chops are tender, pour in the pineapple chunks and add the raisins. Heat through briefly, then serve.

 

Is this good?   Well if pirates like it you know it has to be good.   They are a rather picky bunch to serve meals to.    They do have a wide range of favorites though including some pretty disgusting things but this pork chop recipe is definitely on the YUMMY side of things!

OOPS – I forgot to “talk like a pirate” during this post.    Forgive Me?    Good…………talking like a pirate is complicated!!!!    I’m also sure being a chef to pirates on a pirate ship would be RISKY BUSINESS.

You’ll have to put up with this language today – Why?   Well all across the Blogosphere tomorrow is TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY!   Since school is not in session tomorrow, we are celebrating Pirate Day a day early!    Try not to notice please that we have cowboy bandanas on instead of some sort of pirate gear – blame the Graphics Department!!

We told our Security Team they didn’t need to dress up today – besides we thought the pups-in-training might wiggle out of their pirate costumes and we didn’t want to lose them.   Right Clowie?

Besides you all look GREAT in your uniforms!!!!     

I see some of you have dressed up today for the occasion.    Try not to let that interfere with what we’re here for today – to tell you about yesterday’s Teaser and WHO WINS WHAT BADGES!

This photo was not from our Guest Teaser person but it was SUGGESTED by our Guest Teaser person some time ago and we just got around to taking her suggestion!    I’ll tell you WHERE and WHAT this is then who our Guest Teaser was.     This is the FAMOUS “Snoopy Rock” in Sedona, Arizona!     Why “Snoopy” ?    Well it looks just like the famous beagle when he would relax on top of his dog house…………..don’t you think?

The story is that a Japanese tourist said he thought the formation of rocks looked like Snoopy and he was RIGHT!      Who was our GUEST TEASER who suggested this photo?

Teaser Tell All…..Pirate Style!

AHOY Mateys!   Come aboard the Good Ship Sheep Dip! 

It’s time for the Teaser Tell All – Pirate Style!    ARRRRRGH…………..(excuse me, I’ve got a cough)     We had a whopper of a Teaser didn’t we?   Almost made you want to walk the plank instead of figure it out right?    Well, Terrible Ted the Pirate and his sidekick Angel Sammy the Devil  are here to give you the TEASER SCOOP.

In case you think we’ve lost our minds – today is TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY in the blogosphere and we at Ding Dong School pawticipate in that…….so there.

Now – where were we………..

Oh yes…………Teaser………….The first item of business is to let you know WHO was our FIRST COMMENTER yesterday – and our Cheer Team was overjoyed to hear that there was only ONE First Commenter this week.   Just one!    Who???

A mighty beautiful sight, she is………..a pirate island in the middle of the ocean……well, not OUR pirate island but maybe someone’s!     Where was this photo taken????   Well this is BIRD ISLAND in the Seychelle Islands in the Indian Ocean.    Seychelles is actually a REPUBLIC and Bird Island is just one of a LOT of islands in this group of beautiful places.   If you’d like to see more and find out more about this particular island too, CLICK HERE.

Alright class……………today Miss Dingleberry has prepared some pirate food in the cafeteria so enjoy yourselves then sail home on your pirate ships and return in your regular clothing tomorrow!!

OK you scurvy scaliwag sheep, prepare for a pirate’s feast!   Do not stick your sword into the pirate in front of you, and do not eat your meal using your sword to cut things up.   Got it?   Good!!

Friendly Friday Fill-Ins

Hello Everyone!  Time to Fill-In!

Each week each blog gives us two sentences with blanks to fill – it’s FUN hopping around and seeing what everyone else has said.    This week Mom said I can give it a whirl and try to answer them ALL BY MYSELF!   Usually SHE does it…………let’s see how I do.   My “fill-ins” are in RED.

1. September bucket list: 1. Jump in the leaf piles Mom and Dad rake up! 2. Snoopervise Mom’s Fall mum planting – she digs the nicest holes for me!

2. If I came with a warning label, it would say “Beware of this cat’s love of eating crickets, chasing lizards, and thinking skunks are pretty kitty cats”

3. Truth be told,  I am so happy my Mom and Dad adopted me – I am truly “living the life” !!  Angel Sammy was right – this place ROCKS!.

4. I would rather eat dry food  than  wet food even though Mom WANTS me to eat wet stuff

 

There Mom!  How did I do?    Do I get an “A” for my fill-ins?    I hope so…………..I sure tried not to embarrass myself or you and Dad!

Yesterday we received a couple of cool badges from Ann at Zoolatry  – you may have seen them too but just in case, here they are.  One is a reminder of a COOLIO day that we celebrate every year – PIRATE DAY – and the other is a reminder that all those in the path of the powerful hurricane Irma need our prayers and any help we can give them…………

We hope and pray everyone in the path of this storm will be SAFE!

 

This will be my very first TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY……..I can’t wait!
