Happy Saturday Morning!
We had a really pretty day yesterday. Mom and I got in a whole lot of outside time beginning early Friday morning (like 5AM type EARLY).
A way cool thing happened while we were out there that I wanted to tell you about. It was still not really very light yet and Mom had already watered all of the gardens and took water down to the new plantings along the trail. Then she sat in one of the yard chairs to keep an eye on me while I roamed around. I came over to sit at her feet and as we were sitting quietly there enjoying the birds and cool breeze we heard something in the woods. We see deer MOSTLY early morning and early evening around here so it was no surprise when out of the woods by the bird feeders came a beautiful doe…..she didn’t see us – we were on the other side of the yard and being VERY still. Right on her heels was a tiny (and I’m talking TINY) baby deer. Maybe the smallest baby we’ve ever seen. He was quite lively though and curious – stuck right to his Mom’s heels though and she kept a close eye on him too! He nibbled at the fallen sunflower seeds from the feeders and took a little slurp out of the birdbath (which he could barely reach!)…….then off they went never once realizing we were RIGHT THERE. It was one of those little “magic moments” – Mom and me together being quiet, and the deer Mom and her little one together being quiet. Way cool. Too bad my Mom didn’t have her camera but if she’d tried to take a picture we probably would have scared the deer off anyway!
Later in the day yesterday after Mom came home from doing an errand for me (I asked her to get a Father’s Day present for me to give Dad!), she mowed the yard. She switched to a diagonal mowing pattern from her usual, boring “squares” pattern and it looks swell don’t you think?
The rest of the day was spent napping, hiding from the monster that comes out of the closet on cleaning day, rearranging my toys and tissue after Mom picked them up to let the monster clean the carpet, and just generally hanging out. It’s what I do best!
Today I don’t know WHAT I’ll get up to………but it’s supposed to be another pretty day. Mom and I didn’t go out super early this morning so I guess we won’t see Mommy Doe and Bambi today, but NEXT time, she’s gonna take her camera and try to be sneaky enough to grab a quick photo before they know we’re spying on them!!!
Happy Saturday…………What will YOU get up to today?????
