SPARK on Monday

Standard

“SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when her blog was hacked some time ago.  It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it.    Sometimes we need a little “spark” in our lives and these posts were meant to at least be a PART of that effort.    Those of us who enjoyed sharing a SPARK with Annie have continued doing so on Mondays – and we hope one day soon Annie will be back blogging with us again.

After last week and all the craziness that came from it, I was looking for a quote that reflected how I felt after watching with the world what was taking place right here in Washington, DC.   I felt like everyone else felt I think and it took me until the following day or even the day after that, to look at what happened and “accept” it (if that makes sense?!).

I was raised to be a very patriotic person – my Dad was in the Air Force until he retired right here in Virginia, in close range to DC.    He was buried in Arlington Cemetery within sight of the Pentagon which is where he was assigned twice in his career.    He was VERY patriotic – he’d get tears in his eyes when he was saluting the flag or listening to the National Anthem.    I got my love of country from him.   Had he been alive last week he would have been as horrified as I was by what I saw on TV.   I won’t go on and on and on about it – we’ve all talked about it as we “needed” to among ourselves.    Let’s just say I was disappointed and saddened and maybe a little MAD.

So here’s the SPARK I found that says what I want to say to END my discussion of last week……………..because I am not going to live in that moment – I’m going to continue in my OWN moment with my OWN feelings and hope we have a new beginning………..

And I really don’t need to explain that……………it really TRULY says what I hope for all of us who CARE.

And another week begins……………….maybe a little thought for the week is in order? That was the idea that Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader had when she began the SPARK posts a few years ago – before her blog was hacked and she stopped posting. We hope she will be back soon – we miss her but in her honor many of us have been carrying the SPARKS torch on Mondays.   Just something to make us stop and think – prepare us for facing a new day.

I hear from so many that they are feeling many things just slipping away.    Missing friends, feeling isolated as we stay home more, wondering when we’ll see the light in the end of this tunnel.   I guess for me anyway it’s more important than ever to have HOPE.    I love this quote.   Really.

Being a positive person I pretty much have hope in my heart every day but more so now than EVER before.     Try to keep it alive in your heart too.

I know it’s not easy – believe me I really do – but I think it’s important enough to make it my “mantra” for the week…………….HOPE.

Make it a GOOD and hopeful week!    Love, Pam

What exactly IS this Monday SPARK thing we do?   Well, most of you know that Annie of McGuffy’s Reader – who started SPARKS – was hacked and has been on an extended break from blogging although her idea to spread some inspiration on Monday of every week goes on.   Many of us who participated in her SPARKS Blog Hop and found value in sharing a thought on Monday continue doing that to hopefully give each other a “Monday boost” – perhaps something to think about to inspire us in the week ahead OR help us deal with something that’s on our mind.    Why not join us by sharing something that SPARKS you?   It might just start a spark in us too.

I found this SPARK – a quote by Emily Dickenson which I’ve seen many times – probably in some SPARKS that many of us in the blogosphere have posted before – and thought it was a good Monday thought for myself…..and maybe you too?

What a wonderfully imaginative way to think of HOPE.    I feel like it’s inside of me all the time and if I am quiet – I can hear it AND feel it.     More and moreso these days.    I HOPE that I can always and forever keep HOPE in my heart.   I also would wish that for you…………..

Have a great week ahead!

Teddy and I say “KEEP ON HOPING”

SPARKS on Monday

Happy Monday and HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY………………….time for those of us who participate in Monday SPARKS to share a thought with each other.

Thinking a lot lately as we all are about the future……………….this “mess” we are in right now – is it endless?   What will happen to us?    Will things EVER be the same?    All good questions and I guess we don’t know for sure what the answer is to any of these other than WE WILL GO ON.   We will…….it’s what we do – and that is kind of the message in my SPARK today:

I guess we really all NEED to believe this…………..we have learned some things already about ourselves, each other, the world around us – and how fragile life can be.    I also think it’s something like the ultimate “WAKE UP CALL” to have this sort of thing occur.    I choose to believe that many things will never go back to how they were – they will be better.    That’s my wish – just in case there’s a genie out there reading this blog post!

Happy Week ahead………….stay safe………….stay healthy…………stay hopeful.

Love, Pam and Teddy too

Teddy says don’t forget tomorrow is Geography Class……..we’ll show you a photo of a place -you tell us WHERE the photo was taken.  Cool huh?   See?  We’re not just a pretty face at One Spoiled Cat……you learn stuff here too!

SPARKS and Reminder

Standard

Happy Monday!   Time for us to post a SPARK for the week!

Sometimes it’s tough to keep hope in your heart about something………..I’ve blogged about this as well as “SPARKED” about this (!) before but in tough times – and we all have those once in a while – it never hurts to remind ourselves about the value of HOPE.    Here’s the quote I found that touched me the most:

Well, I happen to believe in magic just like I believe in HOPE.    The words here describe just what I do when I am hoping for something – hold it like a light within you.    Focusing on it – making it shine bright and STRONG.    Miracles do happen and that is a lot like magic!

Happy, Hopeful Monday!

Love, Pam

Calling all cats!  Don’t forget tomorrow is Teaser Tuesday – be purrrpared – when you get to class be sure and COMMENT!
