“Train”ing !

SANTATRIPTRAINSAMFINAL

Trains!   FUN FUN FUN!   I know all about them because my Travel Group at Cat Scouts took a trip to the North Pole to help Santa out for the day and I transported us from the Cat Scouts jet to Santa’s Village via a train!    However, this is definitely NOT what today’s blog post is all about.   No sireeeee!

Sunday my Mom and Dad went “training” on a steam train excursion from Manassas, Virginia to Front Royal, Virginia and back.   It was an amazing trip (so they say because I was home – alone!).   I have some photos to share but I’m also going to give you the link to one of Mom’s best buddies, my girlcatfriend Sundae’s Mom, Miss Dianna – who has a blog where she’s talked about the adventure AND where there’s a short video of THE TRAIN my Mom and Dad, Miss Dianna and her husband, and another couple who are their good friends were on.    In fact the video was taken the same day they all rode the train – nothing like the sound a steam train makes – the chug chug chug, the steam and smoke rising up – and that screaming whistle that goes right through you!    CLICK HERE for Miss Dianna’s blog post from yesterday.

Here are a few more photos AND check out the guy with his pup in the old hot rod who was at the train station!    Totally cool – AND the dog was harnessed in and had protective goggles on so he was safe as could be.   He was really LOVING the ride and we all decided this definitely was not his first time to be out for a cruise with “Dad” !!

Look WAY down the tracks and you'll see the headlamp light AND some steam!

Beep Beep.....coming through!

Beep Beep…..coming through!

It was a four hour excursion and while this train no longer runs regularly – only on special occasions – as far as my Mom and Dad were concerned it was a special occasion because they had a ball, and were with friends……….what’s better than that?

If you’re curious and want to know more about this fabulous train, it’s housed in the Virginia Transportation Museum when it’s not chugging along the tracks………..here’s some info:

The Fabulous J611 Steam Train!

So when I say “TRAINING”……..it’s not Mom or Dad trying to get me to do tricks or behave any way other than I’ve been behaving for the last 16-1/2 years – nosireeeeee – by now I’m as “trained” as I will ever get…………….it’s TRAINING in the most fun way possible – riding the rails with friends.

See you tomorrow for cleaning day……….you know what a riot that can be!

Woo Woo Choo Choo!

Happy Groundhog Day!

GROUNDHOGSIGN

Boy was it a BUSY weekend!   Especially yesterday……………….at Cat Scouts we started off with a big birthday party with a Groundhog theme in honor of TODAY being Groundhog Day.

We then slowly moved through the day and afternoon getting ready to PARTY HEARTY at the Super Bowl.   Some cats watched the Kitten Bowl but we don’t have cable so we couldn’t see it (sniff sniff).   Although I did have a chance to toss the ball around with a kitten prior to the game!

Me and one of the Kitten Bowl kitties tossing the ball!

Then the BIG GAME started and all I know is there was no score at the end of the first quarter.  Why is that all I know?  Well because I was so tired from the long day that I stopped watching before the game was over that’s why and I don’t know who won (at least at the time I’m writing this blog which was LAST NIGHT!!!!) – so by now we all know if the Patriots or the Seahawks won.  I was rooting for the Seahawks………….

We all (Mom, Dad and me) had an early night – we were pooped…………and know what else happened yesterday?   My pal Raz’s Dad was discharged from the hospital and he’s HOME!!!    Thanks to all of you who sent POTP while his Dad had his operation – he’s doing GREAT and will be recuperating at home now.

Raz, Allie, Ellie and Cubby thank you for the POTP! DADDY'S HOME!

Pardon me but I feel a nap coming on (YAWN)……………oh – don’t forget tomorrow is Tuesday Teaser – I bet I didn’t have to remind you of that did I ??    Who DOESN’T know about Tuesday Teaser – NOBODY that’s who!

Mom’s Sunday

Standard

Happy Monday folks!   Yesterday, as you know if you read my blog, my Mom was driving with my Dad to Strasburg, Virginia to meet up with one of her good blogging buddies, Miss Dianna of These Days of Mine and her husband.  APPARENTLY they had a good time because I swear Mom seemed like she was gone FOREVER, leaving me “home alone” ….sniff.   I stayed out of trouble though – I napped a lot, watched the squirrels, and did a few chores – like straightening out my toys and rearranging my tissue collection.  I thought about calling Miss Dianna’s cat Sundae so we could have a chat BUT I thought maybe she might be napping in her window seat and I didn’t want to disturb her.

SO, eventually Mom came home and said they had a super duper time – wandered around the antiques place, had lunch, yakked a whole lot, took some pictures, hugged a bunch and home came my parents.  Mom forgot ALLLLL about taking a photo until right before they got in the car to drive home………this is the only photo she got!

Mom said it was fun to meet someone she’d gotten to know through cyberspace because often you never get to do that!

I’m going to spend today trying to find a really good Tuesday Teaser photo for you guys to “guess where” so don’t forget to check it out tomorrow.  AND also one day this week I think Mom’s going to talk about another one of her PREVIOUS CATS like Charli’s story which you guys seemed to enjoy.  This next one might be about Eddy – the cat who was actually in the mystery novel my Mom wrote.

Now, before I close things down for the day, I have to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Uncle Jerry.  He’s not my actual UNCLE, but he and Mom have been friends for about a bazillion years a long time so he’s my honorary uncle.  Mr. Jerry’s written a lot of novels and lives in what I call “Swampland” down near New Orleans.  He’s got a swell little dog named Zoe.  She keeps Jerry on his toes.   Hopefully she gave him something special for his birthday – like an extra hour’s sleep instead of waking him up super early for her first walk of the day!

It’s what we do for our humans……..make sure they get up on time every day (so we get fed on time)……make sure we ask for lots of treats (so we can keep them on their toes)……and give them an opportunity to provide us with lots of TLC (so we can make them feel good about having us in their lives)…….hey – it’s the LEAST we can do right?

Happy Monday Peeps…………..
