What’s better than a rainy day for NAPPING? Now be careful how you answer that. Think about a nice rainy day – you’re all curled up on a favorite blanket, quilt, bed, soft chair, floor (?), cat bed, and you hear the sound of a gentle rain on the window or roof…….you get drowzy just listening to the steady sound of drops dropping. Before you know it your eyes get heavy and WHAMMO – you just drift off. Kinda like the picture at the bottom of this blog.
Mom went to the dentist so she was gone all morning – Dad kept me company and we patiently hung out together – me staring out the window and him reading a book in the library. Soon we heard the garage door go up and there was Mom! I followed her right on her heels when she went upstairs to change clothes, then back downstairs to get the mail, then finally she landed in her recliner and I could hardly wait for her to put the blanket on her lap. I hopped up on her legs and within about two minutes I was SOUND asleep! Of course she just happened to have her camera in hand so that’s why I was caught in this rather compromising position!!
So – whatcha think…….rainy days YAY or rainy days NAY? You already know how I vote……………… 😀
Kitty Hugs, Your Pal Sammy the Grand Master of Napping
So, it’s Saturday morning and something’s going on – not sure what exactly but I DO know it has to do with that big thing in the kitchen where Mom keeps all the food. Yep…..this morning she came downstairs after I woke her up so she could give me my breakfast, and she started taking all the stuff she keeps on top of the “food machine” off and put them on the counter. Then she took all those magnet things off along with the grocery list (where I constantly check to make sure she has MY food and treats listed)……and as if that wasn’t enough to make me wonder what’s up, Dad brought up the two big coolers from the basement and sat them on the floor in the kitchen.
Oh yeah….something’s up. I do know that Mom and Dad were pretty upset about a week ago when that VERY NOISY thing on the front of the food machine quit working. I know that frozen water comes out of it normally – I know that because sometimes a chip or two would fall on the floor and I’d have a ball playing soccer with it all around the kitchen! Maybe they are getting a new frozen water maker? I guess whatever is about to change is happening today since they seem kind of excited……and I suppose I’ll just have to stay ON THE ALERT so I can go hide in my safe spot in the basement if someone comes to the house that I don’t know.
Never a dull moment around here……humans are strange creatures – just when you think you have them all figured out, they do yet another thing that surprises you. Obviously the food machine is the STAR of the day today. I’ll be glad when the excitement is over with and I can be the focus of attention around here again!
Happy Saturday from Sam, One Spoiled (and most curious) Cat
I'll be glad when the excitement's over and I can take a good nap!
- Lap Naps Are GREAT!
So here I am – at a very early age – learning the fine art of lap-napping as ALL cats eventually learn. I didn’t quite have my positioning right, but Dad didn’t mind. I just kind of slid down from lying across his waist but he was just happy to have me there in his recliner no matter what! Anyway, we cats are truly MASTERS of the fine art of napping. I can find some really great spots to catch a nap. I have some window perches Mom and Dad put in some of the windows that are great, but I also like falling asleep in the sunshine on a bed or the couch and now that I’m “a cat of a certain age” I have been known to nod off out on the front porch while Mom’s sitting in the rocker keeping an eye on me.
Mom’s got a lot of pictures of me napping – why? Maybe because I do a lot of that around here….but that’s just because I am so happy to be part of my family and feel so relaxed that I frequently nod off. It takes a lot of energy to be a cat….so we have to recharge our batteries more frequently than humans do. As soon as I wake up from a good nap, I stretch my legs, give a BIG yawn, and run off to find some mischief to get into. Life is great – especially after a good nap.
Hey....hand me my sleep mask will ya?
