Friday is Monster Day……

Standard

Happy Friday Fans!   It’s cleaning day around here – you know that means the monster will come out of the closet in a little bit so I’m hurrying to get my blog done before the noise begins.

Grabbing some sun before THE MONSTER starts up!

I wonder why someone hasn’t invented a SILENT vacuum cleaner?  As smart as humans think they are (haha) it seems like someone would have figured that one out.  I know a lot of cats and dogs who agree with me…..WHERE’S THE MUFFLER???????????????  We actually have TWO monsters in our house…..since we have three floors, we have an older vacuum on the top floor so Mom doesn’t have to drag the big noisy monster up to that floor – pretty cool huh?   I think Mom and Dad wish they’d gotten more wood floors in the house when they built it (before my time!) instead of all the wall to wall carpet.  I like the carpet myself  but I guess it’s harder to take care of.  I don’t run around here quite as much as I used to, but back in my younger days I’d be tearing around the house and got good traction on the carpet but when I’d hit a patch of wood floor (like in the foyer) I’d slide!  When I was a kitten once I slid right into the front door and smashed my poor nose……….doesn’t take too many of those accidents to learn where to run and where to walk carefully!!  I’m no dummy…………..

So I guess in our next house (Mom and Dad keep promising me that screened porch in the next place!), we’ll have more wood floors and less carpet.  Now that I’m older and spend more time takin’ it easy, that shouldn’t be a problem….AND of course that means the MONSTER won’t be making an appearance every week either.

BRING ON THE WOOD FLOORS!!! (and the screened porch)  🙂

Sam’s New Cousin Sophie

Standard
Sam's new cousin Sophie - adopted by my brother and his family!

My new cousin Sophie with her new Dad, my Uncle Mike!

Good Morning World!  Wanted to share a photo of my new cousin Sophie.  She’s a four year old cocker my Mom’s brother Mike and his family just adopted from a rescue group.  She’s kinda cute for a dog huh?  I think she likes her toys a lot as you can see.  I know she has found her forever home though and will be running things like clockwork around there before you know it!

I also want to mention that when it got light enough to SEE outside this morning, it was PINK!  Yes – PINK – everywhere…..know what that means?  RAIN!!!  Mom said some funny rhyme about red skies at dawn and sailors taking warning and some other kind of gobbledygook I didn’t understand (which is often the case when humans are talking) but the bottom line is when the sky is pinkish and there’s a pink hue everywhere, it’s probably going to get WET.  Since we desperately need WET, I’m hoping that silly rhyme is right.   Mom took a photo but it didn’t turn out – you can’t tell that even the AIR is pink…(haha)…it just looked like a regular photo.  Oh well…..you get the idea.

I’m off to eat breakfast…..I bet my new cousin Sophie is having hers right about now too!

“The Gray Ghost”…..A Mystery Visitor!

zzzzz.....snoozin' on Mom's leg....zzzzz

Mom's leg makes a good pillow....zzzz......

Morning Peeps!  Not much happening around the old house this morning.  Daddy’s gone flying, Mom’s doing laundry – my visiting cat friend Stevie has been and gone…..sigh…..what’s a guy to do except grab a nap????

There was one tiny bit of excitement around here yesterday though come to think of it.  Mom saw me sitting at the front door looking out the sidelight window so she assumed I was makin’ eyes at Stevie on the porch……..she came to look and instead of Stevie, there was a cat we’ve never seen before!  It was just sitting there staring at me and vice versa…..short-haired smokey gray cat just sitting there, pretty as you please, on MY front porch staring at me!  Something tells me word is out in the neighborhood that there’s an extremely handsome red tabby living here (ahem!…..that would be moi!) and IF that was a girl cat droppin’ by – well – what can I say?!?!    Anyway, Mom opened the front door and the gray cat ran lickety split down the sidewalk and disappeared.  We haven’t seen the cat since.  However, wanna bet we DO see it again some time?  There seem to be a LOT of cats that roam around here and Mom says we should worry about them being on their own.  I do……I really do.

Anyway, as I said earlier, it’s gonna be one of those days to grab some nap time…….although I have to admit I’ll probably be checking the porch frequently – just in case we have more visitors!

It's good to be me......

What a life....it's GOOD to be me!

This morning as I was calling “MA MA MA MA” on the landing outside my parents’ bedroom (quietly enough to wake HER and not Daddy of course!), I was thinking how LUCKY I am to be a cat.

Maybe I should say lucky to be a cat living HERE.  Lots of cats don’t have it so good – this I know – but I am having the time of my life.  I have my parents trained quite well after eleven years of hard work.  They can read my body language and I can read theirs; I’ve learned to speak their language just enough to be cute (MaMa, OUT!) and get fed regularly with my favorite stuff.  Then of course there’s quality nap locations like the sofa, Mom’s legs, window perches, sunny stairs, beds, quilts, pillows, corners, under chairs – the list goes ON AND ON AND ON.

The only things I’m not too crazy about is noisy dogs, foxes, going to the vet, riding in cars, and…..and…..well, I guess that’s about it!

Just a few thoughts whirling around my head early this morning.  It’s good to be ME.  I hope you feel like it’s good to be YOU too?!

p.s.  I forgot about my “race cars” – I’m lucky to have parents who indulge me with my hobby of race car driving…..tee hee

Sam Is Camping Out…Inside!

Hey...this camping thing is WAY COOL!

Hey...this camping thing is WAY COOL!

Is this cool or WHAAAT?  Mom and Dad gave me this tent thing the other day and I just love it.  So much so that I dragged a bunch of my toys inside (including this string thing) and have managed to train Mom to bring me some treats to munch on while I’m camping!  Not only that, but this thing has a crinkly bottom so when I move, it makes a sound that’s really funny.

Mom says I’m camping out.  I didn’t “get” what that meant really until she explained that sometimes humans go out in the woods or some other nice spot and put up a little house where they stay for a few days just to enjoy nature.   I gotta wonder how much they like it when it rains, or it’s cold or hot, or there’s lots of bugs and other creepy crawlies?  I don’t have to worry about all that since my “tent” is here in the living room where it’s nice ALLLLLLLL the time – there’s good takeout service thanks to Mom, and I’m comfy as can be.  In fact, yesterday I fell asleep in here.  Yep….sure did….

Camping isn’t just for humans….we cats like it too as long as it’s INSIDE.
