Bacon and Box Day!

Boxes – we love ’em!   Combine that with bacon and it’s a double-treat day!

Welcome to Bacon Box day….huh?  Well I invented the occasion just for today since this year Box Day falls on MY day………if you can get your bacon served to you inside your favorite box today you are having an abundance of luck.   I myself will be separating the two – I don’t want any bacon grease inside my box although I must admit the smell would be nice for days to come.  Still, a grease spot inside a box isn’t very TIDY is it.    I’m a fan of boxes but mostly at Christmas time.   Christmas gift boxes are kind of “flimsy” cardboard – have you noticed?  Well that makes them easier to shape to your liking.  Stiff cardboard boxes are swell and secure but not as “moldable” as Christmas boxes………..

International Box Day!

Oh yeah!  Boxes!   Not very many animals don’t enjoy a good box…………….guinea pigs, dogs, cats, birds, mice, and on and on and on.   So today is all about the joy of boxes and animals all over the blogosphere are celebrating.   Kitties Peaches and Paprika, and woofie Luke are sponsoring the celebration!

As for me, I have to admit that while I used to be MAJORLY big on boxes, a few years ago I changed from spending a lot of time in them to just saving them for special occasions – like Christmas for instance!   I’m in and out of every box in sight on Christmas morning!

I also have been known to get in a “modified box” – which is what my Derby Car was made of when we had a race at Cat Scouts last year……yep – my Dad made me a car out of a box – it was grand – although I  was a little afraid to get in it – Mom had to PUT me in it so I could have my photo taken and get credit at Scouts for being IN my racecar entry!   That was about the time Mom and Dad realized I was not QUITE as interested in boxes as I used to be.

One sweet ride yes? My Dad made it for me for Cat Scouts!!

Mom had to HOLD me in my car to qualify me in the race – how embarrassing!

Box Day Is Coming!

Tomorrow is a big day in blogville…………..!   That’s right – it’s International Box Day!   Celebrating boxes – most of us can do that no problem right?   Who doesn’t really like a GOOD box to lounge in, keep our toys in, EAT (hahahaha) – indeed the box has so many uses.

I’m a BIG fan of boxes – not as much now that I’m older as years ago with ONE exception.  At Christmas you can’t keep me out of boxes – I wait for Mom and Dad to open their stuff up and the minute the box becomes available I’m ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL over it (or in it).   I’ll drag a toy or two into it or maybe a ribbon…..and if I’m lucky there’s tissue inside which makes it a DOUBLE win.

Boxes are great so I hope you’ll consider posting a photo of you enjoying your “box of choice” tomorrow…………….I will be!   Also the Tabby Cat Club will be celebrating  the day too so if you are  interested in reading  the posts there, please feel free to drop by – I’ll have the link on my blog tomorrow……….

Gimme Shelter (Or A Box!)

OOPS – I guess I kinda stole that subject line from a rather famous band didn’t I?  Maybe they’ll forgive me…….after all, it purrrrrfectly says what I was saying almost all day yesterday………..WHY YOU MIGHT ASK???  Well I’ll tell you why!

First of all, I figured something mysterious was up when Mom and Dad went outside first thing yesterday morning and took EVERYTHING off my back deck and EVERYTHING off my front porch.  That was rather alarming to say the least.  I’m used to seeing certain things out my windows – all the furniture, plant pots, deck plant boxes, the front porch rockers and all that STUFF – GONE – they stacked stuff up in the yard AWAY from the house which was even MORE mysterious.

Wait…wait….you’re taking all the stuff off my deck!!!

What about my pretty view of the front porch? Where did it go????!!!!

Why?  Well I asked them when they came back inside………..seems the powerwashing crew was coming yesterday.  EEEEEK (I thought to myself) – I remember two years ago when they were here……..talk about NOISY…….well, while I personally like the green sheen of mossy stuff that grows on the shady parts of the house thanks to dampness – THEY don’t.

But Mom, the green mossy stuff goes with the green grass – compliments the white house…..why change a GOOD thing???

After I recovered from that horrible experience, I settled back in my tent for some much needed sleep explaining to Mom that if she expected me to be my usual charming self on practically no nap time, she had another think coming!  Here’s me reading her the riot act.

Yes Mom, I’m talking to you….who else can I whine to about stuff??????

Was I real wienie for complaining about getting a nice clean house if a bit of noise accompanies the operation?  YES…… Was I a real wienie for telling Mom I need lots of beauty sleep if I’m expected to be companionable and adorable for the rest of the day?  YES…. Do I care if I was a wienie or not?  HECK NO.

That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.   I have heard that later today, I will be disturbed yet again by a lady coming to measure some of my windows for new drapes.  I suppose I’ll have to take sanctuary in the basement yet again when SHE gets here.   I guess I’ll just have to accept that today will be another GRUMPY day.  Hope my Mom understands that!

In case you didn’t know this, today is International Boxing Day!   A day cats (and other animals) celebrate with great gusto – especially we felines – who can resist a great box?  You might see a lot of posts today featuring animals in their favorite boxes – like this!!!
