It’s Madi’s SWEET 16!
Click the Badge above to visit the BLOG HOP!!
Well Madi you wanted us to celebrate your birthday by telling the tale of an epic car journey, or how we (or our humans) learned to drive or something about a road trip of SOME sort – a driving tale.
I have bunches of stories I could tell but I’m going to let Mom tell HER story, and by way of pawticipating in the “driving” part of this HOP for you, I’ll just show both me and my Angel brother Sammy in our cars that we “drove” in the Cat Scouts Cardwood Derbies of the past. The rule was you had to make your car out of a cardboard box and you had to be IN the car to get credit. Of course Angel Sammy who hated boxes (!) wouldn’t get in his car so Mom had to hold him inside for his photo. HAHAHA
Here I am in my “milk truck” making deliveries – this was last year’s Scouts derby……
Here’s Mom holding Angel Sammy in his car – this was several years ago…..
Those are our “CAR EXPERIENCES”………………now here’s Mom to tell her tale!
Thanks Teddy! I have a story to tell from many, many years ago…………I was probably 18 years old and on a date with my then boyfriend who became my first husband a few years later. We used to take what we called “drives to nowhere” – we liked to just drive around exploring side roads (yes sometimes we were looking for a good “parking” (!!) spot) and one beautiful Fall afternoon we had just had lunch at a drive-in restaurant when we decided to explore. We went down a side road that was just about one lane wide – it was paved and headed into a wooded area and we kept following it and following it and it turned into a dirt road. It looked like a well-traveled dirt road though so we kept following it. Meanwhile it was becoming “dusk” and we were thinking MAYBE we ought to be heading back home. It was still light but in the woods on this road it began to FEEL just a little bit “ominous”……….we couldn’t find a good “turn around” spot – there just weren’t any but in one area it was slightly more clear on the sides of the dirt road than other places so he tried a 3-point turn………..we got STUCK. Under all those leaves on the side of the road in what we thought was a “clear” area (no trees/shrubs) was MUD and we were stuck in it. I was beginning to panic – I knew we sure couldn’t leave the car and look for help – we were in the middle of nowhere AND it was getting darker. I knew my parents would have a fit……and of course there were NO CELL PHONES back in the 60s so we had no idea what we were going to do. Then a miracle happened – we saw someone walking UP the dirt road in front of our car. Honestly – I was even more scared when I saw this person – who knew what kind of person he was or where he came from, etc. My boyfriend got out of the car and walked toward the man………he said he’d been hunting and heard what sounded like a car stuck and came to see if he could help. I COULD BREATHE AGAIN. He was very nice and helped get our car out of the mud and onto the road and helped us get the car turned around. No I didn’t hug him but I sure thanked him. He looked at us and said “I was young once!” and smiled. He knew why we’d gone down that road……….!!
Madi, Angel Sammy, Teddy and I all hope that you have fun reading all the stories today of driving adventures. This was the only “different” kind of driving related story I could come up with!!
Happy Birthday from Pam, Ted and Angel Sammy
Madi, remember this old photo of you and Raz arriving at the Drive-In Theater??? Did you and Raz go for a “drive to nowhere” afterwards???? Tee Hee
Ready for the Selfie Hop?
Sunday is the day we hop on board the SELFIE TRAIN at the Blog Hop hosted by our friends the Kitties Blue at THE CAT ON MY HEAD. Yep – everybody who’s wanting to smile pretty for the camera or at least do some sort of selfie joins in this every single Sunday so shouldn’t you do the same? If you want to, click their badge above and sign up with the Linky Tool.
Mom snapped this little gem while I was politely and quietly snoring on the floor in her office this morning – I was minding my own business on top of my pile of used tissue with my favorite plastic fish keeping me company when WHAMMO – Mom got out the flashy and stole this photo of me. Oh well. It’s the least I can do right?
Here’s the photo before she messed with it on Lunapic (using the Psychedelic filter) then adding a Pizap border:
Now that I’ve shown you mine – why don’t you show us YOURS??? Selfie that is!!!! See you next Sunday for show off selfies again………………
Love, Teddy (Mr. Psychedelic!)
It’s time to hop along with the Kitties Blue at The Cat On My Head – just as we do EVERY Sunday. I hope you are a “hopper” too – but if you haven’t been joining us OR you’re ready to take the plunge for the first time, just click their badge above and go link up! It’s definitely “THE PLACE” to be on Sunday.
This week Mom snapped this photo of me while I was lounging on a chair in the Guest Room. I think I’ve told you all before we call this chair “The Granny Chair” because it used to belong to my Dad’s Mom. She’s been at the Human Rainbow Bridge for many years but her comfy chair is still here and I LOVE it. It’s a great nap spot……….Mom has an old quilt on the back and a nice soft baby quilt under me and a couple of kitty pillows around……..it makes for a MOST enjoyable snooze spot. I look relaxed don’t I???
Here’s the BEFORE MOM MESSED WITH IT photo of me:
And after she played around with the photo using Lunapic’s “CONNECTIONS” art filter, here’s what she came up with! I think it looks rather oriental don’t you?
Hope to see you at the Hop……………….!
Happy Sunday with Hugs, Teddy
Another friend – Sister Kit – from BriansHomeBlog has flown off to the Bridge……please visit Brian’s blog to leave a message if you wish…..click Kit’s badge below:
Time for Sunday Selfies with Kitties Blue
Every Sunday we hop on board the Selfie Train hosted by our good friends at The Cat On My Head………..the Kitties Blue. It’s a great way to strut your stuff on a Sunday – if you’d like to join in the fun, click their badge and add your link and you’ll be hopping in no time.
Mom did the Lunapic thing this week AGAIN (she’s hooked – what can I say?) and jazzed my photo up a bit. I should tell you right up front though that this is an OLD photo of me hitting the water fountain in the guest bathroom. For one thing, I was a LOT smaller when this photo was taken. I now take up a great deal of that counter and have to sit on the SIDE of the sink, not on the narrow EDGE like I am in this old photo! This photo was taken in May of last year and I was adopted in February so only had been in my FOREVER HOME three months! I had lots of growing to do and of course I’ve done that.
Here is the “before” photo:
And here’s the Lunapic version:
Thanks Mom for making me “ARTSY” for Sunday Selfies! If you all think this photo makes my rear end look big you should see it now………..HAHAHAHA
Big Selfie Hugs, Teddy
Let’s Fill In Some Sentences OK?
Friday is here and that means that we will be pawticipating in our fun Friday activity of joining this blog hop co-hosted by Ellen of 15andMeowing and Annie of McGuffys’ Reader where we fill in blanks in sentences that they give us! What’s fun about that? Well we sure learn a lot of interesting stuff about each other – that’s what’s fun! If you’d like to join in, click the graphic above and join by filling in the LINKY TOOL. Simple as that – then fill in the sentences and visit everyone else who did.
Here are our four sentences for this Friday. I’m going to try to fill them in myself (in green) but if I get stumped I’ll let Mom take over (in red)!
1. My guiding word for 2018 is FUN (I’m just a kid and all I want to do is have fun – especially playing with my Mom – the red dot, throw the ball, chase me around the house, it’s good exercise too!).
2. A house is not a home without LOVE and I get plenty of that around here!.
3. I look forward to turning TWO this year. Then I’ll be all grown up right?
4. I really need to lose weight, because my Mom has a bad back and carrying me around or putting me on the bathroom counter for a drink is tough for her and my 19-ish pound body!!!!)
So there you have it – I’ve done ALL The filling in ALL by myself this week! WHEEEEE!!!!!!! How about you? Have you done yours yet? Thanks Miss Annie and Miss Ellen for doing this every week.
Who’s “BIG” – not me – I’m just a little kid – heck I’m not even TWO yet!
Love and Happy Friday! Teddy
Time for the “Almost 2018” Friday Fill-Ins!
This is a super fun hop co-hosted by Ellen of 15andmeowing and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader and we just love it. Every Friday each of our co-hosts give us TWO sentences with blanks to fill. We get to share a little bit about ourselves and what we think when we fill in the blanks and that’s why it’s a FUN Hop! Want to join in? Click the badge above and go to McGuffy’s and sign up to join us.
I guess this might be another one of those fill-in Fridays where my Mom ought to do the filling in………….so I’m letting her…………and her fill-ins are GREEN today!
1. On New Year’s Eve, I will do what I always do – have a nice dinner with my husband, have a bottle of champagne with dessert, then go to bed EARLY – no parties or noise at our house – just a quiet start to a new year!
2. One goal I have for 2018 is to work on Teddy’s blog to make it more interesting and fun……I don’t want it to be boring for anyone!
3. In 2017, I accomplished nothing of note – I’m just grateful to be alive for another year so I guess I accomplished THAT!.
4. I lost my soul cat in 2017. (but we adopted another sweet ginger boy who has healed our hearts!)
Gosh Mom – I’m glad to hear that – I know you miss Sammy but I’m glad that I am helping you and Dad move on……………….as for me and this coming year – who knows – I just want to continue to be spoiled rotten and enjoy the fun of being a cat with you and Dad. I’m not sure there’s anything that could make me happier!
Now for SHOPPING AROUND THE WORLD!
Another FUN Blog Hop and this one is all about FOOD and sharing recipes and prices from our area of the world! My friend Bacon at PIGLOVE is hosting this one AND if you want to join in – share a recipe and see what stuff costs in OTHER places just click the badge above and let Bacon know you have posted a recipe on your blog. This month’s challenge was to share a recipe for a dessert, cookie or other treat that we do for holidays. My Mom makes spiced nuts for Christmas and she must have made about TEN batches of these (my Dad is hooked on them!). so I’m sharing that recipe which is EASY PEASY.
Mom’s EASY Cinnamon Spiced Nuts
10 or 15 oz. can of Planters Mixed Nuts (unsalted or salted) – $6.26 (10. oz.)
1 tablespoon water (free!)
1 cup sugar (we had sugar)
2 teaspoons cinnamon – $1.89 for 2.57 oz.
1 teaspoon nutmeg – $4.99 for 2.47 oz.
Preheat oven to 350 and grease a large cookie sheet (I used spray). Beat one eggwhite until fluffy – add 1 tablespoon water and whip eggwhite again. Add can of nuts and coat well. In a small bowl mix together the sugar and spices then dump them into the nuts mixing well to coat all the nuts. Put the nuts on the cookie sheet and spread out. Bake the nuts 20-25 minutes, mixing the nuts on the cookie sheet a couple of times during the bake. Take nuts out of oven and dump onto sheet of foil to cool. VOILA! Done!
These are quite addictive so WATCH OUT.
THANKS BACON for hosting this fun hop – gives us all a chance to share a good recipe AND see prices. Can’t wait to see what our project is for NEXT month!
Today would have been my Dad’s 101st birthday…..Happy Birthday in Heaven Daddy – I will always be your “little girl”……Love, Pam
Friday Fill-In Time!!!!!
Our “FUNNEST” Hop – filling in sentences courtesy of our co-hosts McGuffys’ Reader and 15andMeowing……….we just have to fill in the blanks and hop on the Hop and voila – we get to visit and see inside other people’s heads from what they’ve filled in! Pretty cool huh? Well we think so and that’s why we join it every Friday. Each of our co-hosts gives us two sentences with blanks and we fill ’em!
Here are this Friday’s sentences and I let my Mom fill in number 3 I did the others! My words are in GREEN and hers in RED.
1. Snow isn’t as much fun as I thought it would be to play in – it’s COLD on my feets!.
2. I am excited to have my very FIRST Christmas.
3. One holiday memory that I cherish is Christmas morning breakfast made by my Dad. Homemade sausage gravy and biscuits. MMMMM!.
4. I always thought that Santa was a big jolly old CAT with a beard but the photos I see of him – he’s HUMAN!
There you have it! Our Friday Fill-Ins! If you want to join in the fun – just click McGuffy’s badge at the top of the page and it will take you to her blog where you can fill out the LINKY form and become “one of us” ……….you’ll be glad you did.

It’s Sunday and time for The Cat On My Head’s pawsome “Parade of Selfies” blog hop. Wanna have fun showing yourself off with us? Just click on their badge above and fill out the EASY LINKY form and you’re strutting your stuff like the rest of us!
This week Mom used Lunapic again and the “REDS” Art Effect and man oh man am I popping on this one or WHAT?! Not exactly Christmassy but you have to admit – I look like a TIGER with my stripes huh? I’m showing you the “original” photo too – I was helping Mom change the sheets this week……well, I was sort of just guarding the mattress while she laundered the mattress pad and sheets but that’s the general idea.
This was Mom’s original photo
You should join in on the Selfie Hop – sure is an easy way to visit all your buddies on Sundays! We thank The Cat On My Head for being our hosts every week – there is quite a long list of “Hoppers” but there’s always room for MORE MORE MORE so join us??
Guess what ELSE?? We got SNOW yesterday for the first time this season – YES – maybe not a HUGE amount but perhaps 3-4 inches – Mom took these early on in the snow but we got more after this…………we think it looks pretty when it just “sits on the limbs” of the trees………..
My thanks again to Marvelous’s talented Mom Miss Barb for my holiday graphic!
Sunday Hugs, Teddy
It’s that day of the week for the HOP we love so much – and it’s co-hosted by our friends 15andMeowing and McGuffy’s Reader. In fact, if you feel like hopping aboard this Blog Hop, just click McGuffy’s badge above then sign up on the LINKY form! Easy – go for it and share your thoughts with the rest of us Hoppers. Every week both of those blogs give us a list of four (two from each) sentences with blanks – and we have to fill in the blanks……this week’s four sentences are below – AND, I let my Mom fill them in this week! Her fill-ins are in CHRISTMAS RED!
1. The best part of last week was finally starting my Christmas shopping – I’m later than usual this year for some reason!
2. The worst part of last week was not finding all the stuff I wanted to get for gifts on my first time “out” – that means more shopping next week……
3. Closet cleaning and kitchen cabinet clearing out is a Winter project that I will be working on.
4. A holiday gift that I always buy for someone is Christmas socks – that’s right – it’s just a personal tradition to give socks to SOMEONE on my Christmas list!
YAY! Thanks Mom – I couldn’t figure out how to answer ANY of those questions – this is my very FIRST Christmas so I guess I’m having to learn about family traditions and stuff so I’m afraid I’m not good with Christmas questions. All I know is that I’ve been very GOOD so no doubt I’m on Santa’s NICE list.
Actually I already got an early present from Santa – he dropped it off yesterday and asked Mom and Dad if they wouldn’t mind being his “Virginia Elves” and putting it together because they were SO busy at the North Pole right now. Mom and Dad said “of course” and they thought it might take several days to put it together but it didn’t – it took an hour! So I got to have it EARLY (Santa told them I could have it early if they finished it early). Here it is:
Pawsome huh? Well, know what? So far I haven’t gone near it. I want some time to get used to it being in my basement. I’m a BIG BOY too and I’m not sure I’ll really FIT on that thing. It’s six feet tall and the “condos” are nice sized – that big one I can definitely fit in and the perches I can put my buns on and stare out the windows but so far, even with the temptation of following the Red Dot, or snarfing up some treats on one of the platforms – I’m keeping my distance. Mom and Dad have said that I just have to get used to SEEING it there before I’ll use it. I’m not so sure…………I kinda like the hanging mouses and the rope……..guess I’ll just have to be brave and give it a whirl! I don’t want Santa Paws to be disappointed in me since he brought it to me.
Have you done your “WISH LIST” for Santa? Time’s almost up – you all better do a list – and make sure you stay on the NICE LIST too unless you want to get a bag of coal (Mom told me that’s what BAD kitties get but that’s silly…….coal????????).
See you tomorrow for BAKIN’ WITH BACON (Christmas Version)……………woo hoo!!
Let’s Go Hopping!
It’s Sunday and that means Sunday Selfies hosted each week by our good friends the Kitties Blue at The Cat On My Head. We all love to show off on Sunday – so we hop on board the Hop Train and before you know it, there’s all sorts of people to visit and selfie portraits to see! If you click on the badge up above you will go to their blog and see for yourself how easy it is to join up – and share your selfie with all the rest of us!
This week Mom used a photo that I had on my blog of ME snuggling in a blankie/bed that had been a gift to Angel Sammy before he went to the Bridge on Dec. 2 last year. It was his favorite nap spot and when I “adopted” it after I came to live here, Mom was delighted……..a little teary but delighted. Most of the time I like to “rotate” around the house in my 3 or 4 favorite spots for naps but this blankie is in the living room where the fireplace is, and now that we’re having fires – well – do I need to tell you how extra comfy it is there??
Mom used Lunapic to jazz it up a bit but I’m showing you the “starting point” photo too……………..and I hope you will consider hopping along with all of us today!!
Mom used Lunapic on this and I LOVE the colors!!
Here’s the original – amazing what art filters/effects can do isn’t it?
I hope you all have a fabulous Sunday……………..and if you’re not joining the Hop today – make plans to do it next week………..it’s tons of fun!
Love and Hugs, Teddy
