A Sadaversary

One year ago the First King of Baconia departed his Kingdom for a HIGHER GROUND – the Rainbow Bridge.    December 2nd he joined several of his “besties” who had left just before he did – and they all got their wings within days of each other.

Sammy was a very special guy – how can I know that when I never met him?   Well, I know it because my Mom and Dad talk about him all the time, and once in a while call me “Sammy” instead of “Teddy” which of course I don’t mind…….not one bit…..Sammy left big paws for me to fill around here and I’m doing my best.

Mom wanted me to put the link up to the post she wrote the day Sammy left…………..it was a surreal day because it was also the day of the wonderful Blog Hop started by Sammy’s friends Easy and Madi and with help from Dory who set the HOP up for them.   The idea was for Sammy to hop in his balloon and visit anyone and everyone who signed up in the Hop – they could tell him a little about where they lived and he could “see the world”………….nobody knew that it was going to be the day Sammy became an Angel……….other than Mom and Dad.

I don’t really need to go on and on and on about Sammy – most of you knew him better than I do – he was “one of a kind” – like all of us are, only somehow he seemed larger than life.   He will always be my best friend and my big brother and one day I know that I will join him at the Rainbow Bridge – like all of us will………….including my Mom and Dad…………

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Today is THANKFUL THURSDAY and also Poetic Thursday!

First of all though we do our Thankfuls for Brian’s Blog Hop.    We all have things to be thankful for if we just think about it – even coming up with just ONE thankful a week is something all of us can easily do.    Then we share…………if you want to share, click on Brian’s badge above and hook up with us to HOP.     This week I have to say that I’m thankful I have a WARM HOUSE to live in because it’s really been COLD outside.   I am one cat who loves outside trips but while I’ve asked to go outside plenty of times this week and Mom has put my harness on and her coat on, etc., the minute the door opens I look at her like “YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME…….CAN YOU TURN ON THE HEAT??”…………so I don’t go outside.    Mom seems OK with that but I miss my fresh air.   Still, I am thankful I have a choice – so many kitties and other animals are only out in the bad awful weather.   I don’t HAVE to be!

I’m also thankful that I got Angel Sammy’s poem for this week because I’ve heard there are a lot of problems with people’s internet service – apparently the folks at the Rainbow Bridge NEVER have problems because I always get his email containing his poem on time with no glitches!   Wi-Fi up there is GREAT!

Hello Friends!  It’s time for my Poetry Challenge of the week!!

This week we are REALLY getting close to the end of the alphabet because it’s time for the letter “W”.    That means just three more after this and we’ll start a NEW poetry challenge.  I’ll tell you more about that as the time gets closer.   I hope you like my idea!    

I also hope you’ve had a good week…………..things have been busy at the Rainbow Bridge – as you know I’m on the welcoming committee and sadly we’ve had a lot of additions lately – the cold weather seems to be our busy season there.    We always work hard to make new arrivals feel at home – after all, this IS our home now.    We visit with our families and friends on Earth if we choose to but we LIVE here.    Other than that, I teach classes on Angel Good Works, Flying With Wings, and several other things.  I am busy!    

As I said, this week’s letter was “W” and I gave you some ideas of what you might write your poem about in case you couldn’t come up with something – BUT remember the poem can be about ANYTHING starting with the letter “W”…………..my “prompts” for you were:

(1) Window (2) Wink (3) Worry (4) Wiggle

They say that cats can let humans know

How they feel about them, it’s our way to show

Our love for you – our true devotion

Cats are capable of deep emotion!

You may already know this but if you stop to think

Your cat may frequently stare and WINK

We catch your eye from across the way

And time stands still…….it’s THEN that we say –

“I LOVE YOU” with a slow, deliberate wink

Holding your gaze, and you stop and think

“Is he doing that on purpose or is it a clue?”

Well of course it’s on purpose – we are saying “I LOVE YOU” !

My Mom realized about winking long long ago

Other kitties she had would WINK at her to show

Their love for her………and she always winked back – 

It’s something MANY of us do – and that’s a fact!

Keep an eye on your kitty from across the room

If you see a slow wink – it’s the sure cure for GLOOM!

 

It’s true……………My Mom’s cat before me Eddie would wink but when Mom winked back Eddie would hop down from wherever he was at the time and come to her – he’d follow his “I LOVE YOU” with a “LET’S CUDDLE”………I didn’t do that but I loved to catch Mom’s eye and wink.   I know she’s hoping Teddy will do that…………..I’ve told him to give it a try!

Next week we will have the letter “X” – now that’s a REAL toughie……………..so instead of you having to do an “X” poem, you may do a poem about ANYTHING IN THE WORLD YOU WANT TO!    If you can think of an “X” – you can do that but you don’t HAVE to.    OK?   OK!      I am not going to give you prompts – you can be extra creative!

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Time to be thankful again……………..If you click on Brian’s badge above, you will be transported there and you can add YOUR blog link to all of ours to SHARE your Thankfuls!!    I have some thankfuls today to share………..the BIGGEST ONE is that tomorrow my Mom and Dad will be back home again.   I wonder if they will bring me a souvenir?   Maybe my own personal lobster?

I’m also thankful that I have been so well cared for while they have been gone…………I’m at a very special place with very special people looking after me.   I miss Mom and Dad more than I can say but I’d be willing to bet that THEY have also missed ME a lot!    We are – after all – family and it’s the first time since I was adopted that I’ve been separated from them.

Angel Sammy has visited me a lot though…………and that has kept me WARM and HAPPY.

Speaking of Angel Sammy, he says he got a remote connection to our computer last night and downloaded his poetic contribution for today’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday post.   I knew he wouldn’t let us down!   Today we do the letter “S”…………….

Hello Friends!  Greetings from the Bridge!

First of all, I want you to know that Teddy has not been alone………..no sir.   What kind of brother would I be if I hadn’t been whispering in his ear while Mom and Dad are gone?   No worries there – we are and always will be brothers even though we never met “in the fur”!     I told him I’d transmit my usual poem last night and here it is!     We are doing “S” today as you know and I gave you four prompt words to jumpstart your creativity so you would write a poem and join in the fun.   BUT you don’t have to use the prompt words I give you – they are just examples and ideas!    The prompts I gave you were:

(1) Sunny (2) Shrimp (3) Shoe (4) Snuggle

“Sam I Am”

From my cloud far away where Angels fly

Hardly a single moment passes me by

When I don’t have thoughts of the home that I had

With two people who loved me – my Mom and my Dad.

My parents knew that they wanted a boy kitty that day

Into the shelter to rescue me and take me away!

Dad said to Mom, “his name should be Sam”…..

It fit me so perfectly…………so Sam I Am !

The years passed us by and they were so full of love

At sixteen years old, I heard voices from above……

They said “enjoy these months dear boy as your calling is near”

While they whispered the words – the meaning was clear.

I was ill, I was tired, I was sad as could be

I knew the Angels were coming to set my tired soul free.

Now I fly through the sky and I sleep on a cloud

There are so many Angels – we are a very large crowd!

When my parents were ready, when their grief was not raw

I sent a ginger kitty to the shelter and HE was who they saw!

On the way home from the shelter my Dad named him “Teddy”

And I’ll protect him ALWAYS……..until the Angels are ready………..

That was a fun poem to write…………..my little brother is special to me!   I am trying to teach him and show him how wonderful it can be to know true and lasting love from humans.   He has told me that he felt that love from the second he saw Mom and Dad at the shelter………………..so I did my “JOB” well I think!!

Next week we will write poems about ANYTHING starting with the letter “T”…………….I suppose you all know that one of the things I MIGHT write about would be my brother……..we’ll see about that!    Here are some possible prompts for you – you can write a poem about ANYTHING starting with “T” but if you need a little help, here are some ideas!

(1) Tiger (2) Tummy (3) Tired (4) Travel

One of the things that we do

For most of us this rings true…….

Is guard our humans from spies

And those nasty introooooder guys!

Squirrels, chipmunks, skunks and birds –

Apparently they didn’t get the word –

That WE are defending our humans and homes

So they’d be wise to find other places to roam!

We bark, hiss or whine to warn them to leave

Some will listen but some don’t believe!

So we run tell our humans that we need them to help

That the introooders will not listen to our hiss, whine or yelp!

When will they all learn what we all seem to know – –

They just are not welcome so it’s time that they GO!
