What’s SPARKS??? You all know that Annie of McGuffy’s Reader – who started SPARKS – was hacked and has been on an extended break from blogging although her idea to spread some inspiration on Monday of every week goes on. Many of us who participated in her SPARKS Blog Hop and found value in sharing a thought on Monday continue doing that to hopefully give each other a “Monday boost” – perhaps something to think about to inspire us in the week ahead OR help us deal with something that’s on our mind. Why not join us by sharing something that SPARKS you? It might just start a spark in us too.
My SPARK today just might be popping into my head because next month I’ll be turning 72. That’s not a bad age – frankly because when I was very young I had this feeling that kind of stuck with me that I would float off to heaven at age 62 due to some kind of accident. Well that didn’t happen thank heaven but 72 is sneaking up on me and I honestly – truthfully – am not freaking out about that. I’m HAPPY to be alive. I’ve had serious health issues which probably have led me down the “grateful to be here” road but mostly I’ve been a very positive person. That helps a lot when facing the aging thing.
I found this simple quote……………and it totally speaks to me. Maybe it will speak to you too. A lot of you are a long way from even thinking about aging – I know that – but one day it will be on your mind!
Anyway, that’s what matters…..not the wrinkles or gray hair – it’s the soul!
Love and have a Sparkly week!
P.S. Calling all Teaser Fans – Professors Angel Sam and Teddy wanted me to remind you class is tomorrow! Be purrrpared for the Teaser post to pop into your inbox at a surprise time…….hopefully it will be an easier photo to figure out than last week. I said HOPEFULLY – there are no guarantees on Teaser Tuesdays!
Happy Monday! Starting another week………leading to who knows what? Actually that’s the really FUN thing about life isn’t it….most of the time we have no idea what the day will bring us. Each day is a gift; sometimes wrapped up in newspaper and sometimes in sparkly paper with fancy bows. Up to us to give it some SPARK. Annie of McGuffy’s Reader started this Blog Hop because she felt – rightfully so – that we need a little LIGHT in our lives – a little spark of inspiration. Monday seems a good day to share those thoughts. If you’d like to join her and the rest of us who enjoy sparking things up, please do. Click her badge above and become part of the crowd!
My SPARK today actually took me a long time to choose – there are so many amazing quotes by so many amazing and wise people about aging. I admit that I really never gave it much thought before I turned 70 but while age doesn’t really MATTER to me (I’ll always be 18 in my heart!), I find the quotes I read to be so on target it’s amazing. Each one speaks to me in a different way. There were probably a half dozen I COULD have used for my spark today but I settled on this one:
Looks certainly aren’t everything – and I’ve ALWAYS thought that………..I felt a lot like the little ugly duckling for a lot of my youth – but I guess in time I realized just how truly unimportant all of that focus on what we look like is. I want to be known for what I think, how I feel, what I do, how I share my ideas, how I can help but looks? NAH. They are fleeting – my SOUL is here forever.
Have a super Monday!!
Happy Monday! Time for those of us who are happily enjoying this wonderful Blog Hop started by our friend Annie of McGuffy’s Reader to share a little inspiration with others who like starting their week off with the spark of power. Annie believes that the world needs more positivity and this is a wonderful way of “releasing” some of that when we share thoughts on Mondays – maybe we’ll think about something we read in another Sparks post that will “stick” with us all week, all month or maybe forever. Want to join in and share a spark of your own? Just click Annie’s badge above – fill out the LINKY tool and join the “movement”.
I have passed my 70th year on this earth in this life and while aging has never really bothered me – I know a lot of people who find it very difficult to have yet another birthday. When they think about aging or even just look in the mirror, they focus on what was instead of what might lie ahead. I grew up with an age-obsessed mother so perhaps that’s where I got my “grateful for every day no matter how many of them I have” attitude???
I saw this quote and thought – YES!!!! Maybe you’ll feel that way too.
I don’t really think this quote needs an explanation……………but I must say that I am so happy that I know people who are so BEAUTIFUL in this way………..they inspire me.
Love, Pam (and Teddy too)
