Sunday Selfie Hop

Happy Sunday Hoppers………………our hosts at The Cat On My Head would love it if you would join in the fun of this Selfie Hop by linking up with them (you can click their badge above to find the link) and show off yourself.    Easy as that!

Sometimes Mom has quite a time capturing me STILL long enough for a Selfie.    This past week was like that………….I was trying to avoid my parents like the plague because they’ve been ganging up on me to give me ear medication.   I see both of them heading my way I zoom past and hide.   Easy peasy.    SO that means no new photos of me YET AGAIN this week – I’ve spent most of it hiding or sleeping.   Or both.

SO – how about another flashback?

Here I am – enjoying the Guest Room bed – I like Mom to put a towel on it for me to lie on……AND as you can plainly see, Mom did NOT wake me up sneaking in to take my photo.  I am practically unconscious.

SO anyway, Mom used this photo of me from 2020 but we picked a WILD art effect from LUNAPIC for this one called “RAVE” – well – just wait until you see what THAT did to this photo of Teddy the Snoozer!

She didn’t even use the filter at 100% because it hurt her eyes (hahaha).   It’s “RAVE” at 60%.    It will be a pretty darn tough puzzle we think!     Wanna try it anyway?    OK – here it comes you puzzle people!

Happy Sunday!!

Bakin’ With Bacon, The King, and 2 Guests!

Three Chefs For The Price Of One!

That’s right – today I have TWO guests helping in the kitchen.   Each of them brought a recipe to us for something delish involving brussel sprouts and they are SIMILAR but DIFFERENT.    Yep – so we thought why not have BOTH of them here and share BOTH recipes!

Brilliant right?    Don’t say “EWWWWWW I don’t like brussel sprouts” until you try one or both of these recipes – they really are delicious and MIGHT change your mind!

First up is Penny’s recipe…………………

Cracked Out Roasted Brussel Sprouts

(NOTE:  If a recipe has “crack” in the title it means that the recipe has cheddar, bacon, and ranch in the ingredients.

  • 1 lb brussels sprouts halved
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  •  Tbsp Ranch salad dressing (I know not everyone has access to Ranch but if you google it, you can get an easy to make recipe for it)
  •  4 ounces bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • Preheat oven to 450ºF. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
  • Place the Brussels sprouts in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with ranch dressing mix, toss to coat. Place brussels spouts cut side down on the pan to get a good sear. Place the pieces of bacon evenly on the pan.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the brussels sprouts are fork tender but not mushy. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with shredded cheese and serve immediately.

  • Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet. Overcrowding the pan will cause the vegetables to steam instead of roast.
    • Make sure to turn all of the sprouts face down to get a nice sear.
  • Can substitute turkey bacon for a lower calorie dish.
  • I use half a packet of ranch seasoning. If you are sensitive to ranch dressing, adjust the amount to your personal preference.

Next we have Raz’s super recipe……………….

Crispy Brussel Sprouts With Bacon

  • 1/2 pound trimmed and halved brussel sprouts (about 2 1/2 cups)
  • 1/2 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1/3 cup blue cheese crumbles (about 1.5 ounces)
  • 2 pieces of bacon (cut into 1 inch pieces)
  • salt and pepper, to taste

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Toss the halved brussel sprouts with avocado oil and some salt and pepper. Place face down (cut side down) on a parchment lined baking sheet and roast for 12-15 minutes. While the brussel sprouts cook, prep the cheese and bacon as needed.
  • Take brussel sprouts out of the oven and flip over so the halved side is up (the flat part). Take about 1/2-1 teaspoon of blue cheese, or a small crumble, and top each brussel sprout. Then top with a piece of the bacon and spear with a toothpick. Try to make sure they are standing straight up so the cheese does not melt out the sides. I also like to sprinkle the tops with a little pepper.
  • Put them back in the oven for 10-15 minutes or until bacon is crispy. Let cool for a couple of minutes and serve!

Thanks to my assistants in the kitchen today!

Hugs, King Teddy, and Assistant Chefs Raz and Penny

Friday Fill-Ins Hop and Blog For Peace

Today is Blog For Peace Day so we will start with our poster in honor of this day AND move to Filling In Fun

We are passionate about this effort – Mimi Lenox started it off and it has moved through the years with so many bloggers declaring their believe that all we need to do is GIVE PEACE A CHANCE.     You may visit Mimi  HERE  for her post and more information.     It is our hope that one day – SOON – the world will in peace – like a warm blanket or hug – because we ALL deserve it…………….

My goodness – is it Friday already?   Well I guess it is – we’re filling in today and THAT means it’s Friday.    If you aren’t familiar with this Hop where have you been?   Just kidding – it’s a fun hop – you just have some sentences to fill in that our co-hosts give to us and it’s tons of fun.   If you click the badge above you can link up if you like with your OWN “fill-in the blanks”.

Here are the four sentences we have for today.    I let my Mom have the honors for this week and her words are in RED.

1. My list of things to do in November includes decide on our Thanksgiving menu, do Christmas shopping and get a new pre-lit Christmas tree.

2. A lucky Mom is a lady like me who has a big huge ginger cat who loves to hop up on the bed at night and snuggle into his Mom to snooze!.
3. I never would have guessed that our planet would be in such trouble – between politics, the environment, and health concerns we have our hands full!!.
4. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day is an unpopular opinion that I have  (my husband is not a breakfast guy – I love breakfast and believe it gives me the energy to make it through until lunch….hahaha).

OK Mom – I think you did a great job – especially with the one about ME snuggling with YOU at night.   I haven’t always done that – and I don’t always stay up there with you for very long, but I do enjoy a good, warm spot with my Mom petting me and whispering sweet things to me…….maybe that appreciation – at least for me – came more slowly since I was an independent feral guy???    Whatever – I love it now and that’s all that matters.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Happy Thursday world!   It’s time to remember all the things we’re thankful for – just as we do every Thursday thanks to Brian’s Hop.   If you’d like to join us, click his badge above and link up.

My whole family is thankful that we’re having the most beautiful Fall ever!   Mom and Dad have lived here a lot longer than I have of course but I agree that it’s really pretty this year with the leaves more colorful than ever AND the weather pretty nice for Fall.   Even though Mom was disappointed that it rained like mad on Halloween I was thankful because there were only a couple of trick or treaters out in the rain and we didn’t have the DING DONG DOORBELL ringing all evening.    I was happy to have Mom and Dad to myself for most of the night.

We are also thankful that we received Angel Sammy’s poetry post which we will be happy to share with you!

♥ ♥ ♥

Hello my poetry friends!

Time to get together as we do once a week to share poetry!    It’s a lot of fun to look at a photo and let it inspire you to write a poem about what you see and what you think about what you see in a photograph isn’t it.    I read your poems every week and think how TALENTED you are too!

Here’s the photo we all used for THIS week’s poem – followed by my poem.

“House Husband”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©November 2, 2022

Watch out Honey, I’m coming through

Lift those pretty legs – thanks for the nice view!

Today’s your day to relax and be spoiled

This vacuum is noisy – it needs to be oiled!

Let me bring you an ashtray so you don’t have to get up

Now we don’t want a rug burn – do we Buttercup!

I see you gave yourself a pedicure on your dainty little feet

A day of spoiling for a hard workin’ gal is tough to beat.

My Mom and Dad both clean house – but my Mom says she remembers when she was a little girl her Dad never helped with housework.   I’m sure he would have if he’d been home more but he was in the Air Force and the commute and other travel kept him away from home MOST of the time.    This was a fun photo to work with and I’m anxious to read what you wrote so please let us know if you penned a poem – you can post it in comments or just give us a link where we can read it.

I have another goodie for us to use for NEXT Thursday………………..

Fun huh?   This will be a good one to work with I think!     Hope you will write a poem to share next Thursday when we get together again – in the meantime, let every day inspire you in some way.    Life is short – don’t waste a minute of it!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Hugs From The Bridge………Angel Sammy
