Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Thursday and time for the Thankful Hop hosted by our pal Brian.    You can join if you click his badge and link up.    I don’t have any unusual thankfuls today but nothing wrong with CONTINUING to be thankful for some things right?    Always thankful that both my Mom and Dad are well and seem to STAY that way – makes me happy and they say the same for me – I’m never sick so that makes THEM happy.    I’m also very thankful for all the nice fresh mulch our landscaping company put all around our trees and shrubs.   Sure makes for some nice soft spots to – well – um – “make deposits” (if you get my drift!).    I’m also thankful that Spring is making a valiant effort to arrive here.   We have the occasional day in the low 60s and tomorrow we may make it to the high 70s even though it will rain.   We’ll take it.

I have Angel Sammy’s poetry to share with those of you who are Poetic Thursday followers!    Have a great rest of the week.

Hugs, Teddy

Poetry Day!

Hi poetry partners!    Ready to share poetry?   Good!    Every Thursday we share what we’ve written during the past week since we last met – poems written with photos as inspiration sure is fun.    Below is the photo I gave you last week and under it is MY humble poem for the photo – if you wrote one, let us know in comments OK?   We wanna read what you wrote!

“Workout”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©March 22, 2023

Lifting those weights working up a sweat

In her bathing suit and heels – how dedicated can you get!

Hair done, makeup on, no sign of perspiration

Working hard to keep fit – now that’s dedication!

Wearing those heels seems a bit of a risk

Wouldn’t be too hard to take a fall and slip a disk!

Interestingly when I was researching this photo I ran across a number of “bathing beauties” working out and all of them – including some shots of Marilyn Monroe lifting weights – were wearing high heels.   Anyway, this model looks fit so obviously she’s got a good routine with those weights.   My Mom would say “picking up Teddy is like lifting weights so I don’t need to buy any!” – I suppose that’s true at his whopping 28 lbs. !!

Anyway, fun photo – and I have another black and white flashback goodie for you to use for NEXT week’s poem.   Here it is:

We’ve come a long way baby.    Hope you have some fun with this one……….we’ll share poetry next Thursday.   In the meantime, stay healthy and happy.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Light – Angel Sammy

  1. I wish we still had gatherings like that family to share in a super radio broadcast, and to share all the excitement and imaginary pictures.

I always say, I don’t need to go to the gym, I go to my work…because of all the cardio. (fast walking, pushing wheelchairs), and weight lifting (There are some VERY heavy peeps there and we have to move them in their beds or from bed to chair…

    Here is my silly poem…

    Faker??

    This lady thinks she’s strong,
    But something seems rather wrong.
She’s smiling, we hear not a grunt.
It has to be a stunt!
    She’s wearing high heels,
    While hoisting those wheels.
    She’s not looking too rough,
    though weight lifting is tough.
    Hmmm, is she a faker,
    Instead of a homemaker?

    • HAHAHA – good question! I would say she’s a faker but when I googled to find out about the photo I saw a LOT of other ladies (including Marilyn Monroe) lifting weights in heels – photo stunts I’m sure but still it looks so ridiculous it’s fun! HAHAHA Love your poem – you knocked it out of the ballpark Ingrid!

    • Interesting isn’t it. Actually I haven’t worn heels like that in YEARS! My feet were apparently not happy in those high heels I wore every day to work as I’m paying the price for it these days with achy feet! – I never lifted weights in heels though….!

  2. Crazy people wearing high heels for weight lifting! I used to live in them when I was younger even though my job involved a lot of standing. I am paying for it now though!

  3. That lady appears strong
But that’s just it, you’re WRONG.
    She wouldn’t lift those ‘bells
If you threatened to give her hell.
    Those heels are the giveaway
She stands up and it’s a big goodbye
And “Help me up, please, from where I lie!’

  7. LOL Angel Sammy! Great words for your poem for the lady in heels! I just have to say that I have never worn heels like that. Never was a high heel person. I wore Sperry sneaks the day I married SSNS… it was January. Snowy and COLD.

    • I love that you wore sneakers at your wedding…..practical and a whole lot warmer than heels! I wore low heels – which got grass stains when I walked outside of the venue where we had our reception. Not practical!

  8. Good poem. We just couldn’t think of anything to say about that one, we had no inspiration at all. All Mom could think of was she was just posing for a picture and was going to fall over any second, BOL!

  9. We love Angel Sammy’s poem. Those high heels would make our mom tip over even if she wasn’t lifting weights. Next week’s photo looks like more B&W fun. Thanks for offering us the opportunity to write poetry every week. As long as you keep offering photos, mom will continue to participate.
