Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Hello Thursday Thankful Hoppers!    Brian would love it if you would join in his Thursday Hop and tell everyone what you are thankful for this week.    You can click the badge above and link up if you like……………………

I am thankful today for tissue paper.   What?   Yes I said tissue paper.    I have heard Mom and Dad talking about Angel Sammy enjoying lying on tissue paper when it’s “around” at Christmas time and this past week I discovered this delectable and delightful item for myself!    I now have a bit of tissue paper in the library, in Mom’s office, in the Guest Room and if I play my cards right – I might have it in every room by the end of the week.   HAHAHAHA    It makes a delightful sound when I lie on it.   I am also thankful for my Mom and Dad continuing to take me out in the yard for a walk even when it’s 11 degrees outside in the morning on some days.   I have (as you all know) plenty of FAT to keep me warm but Mom and Dad have to bundle up like Eskimos to take me out.   They are my heroes.

Now for the poetry portion of my post today………………Angel Sammy’s poetry fun that we get from him every Thursday.

♥♥♥

Greetings from the Bridge Poetry Fans!

It’s our time to get together to share some poetry.    I hope you remembered this is “our” day.     The photo I gave you last week to use as your inspiration was interesting so I’m thinking you all have a batch of FUN poems to share today.    My poem for the photo – AND the photo itself – are below.

“Grin and BARE it!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©January 11, 2023

Precision and smiles were totally required

Kicking and dancing as we grinned and smiled

Legs, legs, legs, and no knobby knees

A chorus line of cuties is bound to please

Our costumes are tiny and our smiles are big

We’re not overly plump, nor are we thin as a twig

The requirements to be a Rockette are stringent

All I can say is we go through a lot of liniment!!

High stepping Rockettes.   They’ve been around since 1932 and have been a “staple” of New York entertainment for most of that time.    Radio City Music Hall and all around the world these girls knew their stuff!     That was a fun photo to write a poem for.    I have a goodie for you for next week too – here it is!!

Yep – if you were like me when I first saw this photo you did a double take.    LOL     This will be a FUN ONE too!!!    You have a whole week to write your poem then share it with us next Wednesday!    If you wrote a poem for THIS week – just let us know in comments.  You can even PUT your poem in comments if you want to.     It’s just plain FUN.

I hope all of you will stay happy and healthy until we meet again – NEXT THURSDAY!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love forever, Angel Sammy

  1. First we have a whole slew of lady legs, and then we have a dog carrying a lady leg…Yikes! I almost laughed myself out of my chair, LOL! (I also thought about the leggy lamp in Christmas Story. That always makes me giggle.

    Speaking of legs:

What a lot of pretty thighs,
They will wow all the guys!

Sorry I couldn’t come up with anything better…those Rocketttes were quite famous, weren’t they!? It sure must have taken lots of practice to be so precisely synchronized.

  3. Teddy, Lynn can neither sing or write poems. I’m lucky she can call my name OK, mol. A wolfie with a loose leg? I have never tried crinkly paper, but I do get a crinkly grocery sack now and then if I wake up enough to help put groceries away. Lynn never leaves me alone with the bags as I tend to bury myself into them, not safe. Precious

    • I don’t get the same enjoyment from a paper bag as I do from tissue…….it’s lightweight – you can make it float in the air and get under it before it lands – it makes a delightful sound – and it’s fun to rip up into bits (then your Mom gets you a new sheet of tissue…haha).

  4. Angel Sammy, good poem that told it all. We think in today’s world, the line would now have men and heavy people and short people and skinny people and maybe some cats and dogs, too! We’ve gotta get Mom “unbusy” to help one of us write a poem for next week. That is a fun picture.

  5. I LOVE your poem Angel Sammy, and I love the new picture you and your mom posted. I truly need to make mom put her thinking cap on for that one.

  6. Great poem. I have a feeling the new Rockette’s have to be slimmer. Next week’s photo is going to be fun. Have a great day. XO

    • Love your poem Miss “C” – I really have never known a cat to turn down a chance to “enjoy” tissue. It’s cheap, it’s fun – most of us kitties would rather have a box full of tissue than almost anything else! ALMOST!

      Hugs, Teddy

  7. Angel Sammy, well done on your poem! I have great memories of watching the Rockettes with my Grandma.
Teddy, your Mom and Dad are never going to let you down with taking you outside! I am glad you are having fun with tissue paper. I thought you had already been introduced to that joy. Z Cat love her tissue paper and would go sliding down the hall on the carpet!

    • Oh I “met” toilet paper a few years ago but when it eventually got thrown away I forgot about it……….Mom reintroduced it to me and it’s like seeing an old friend after a lot of years – I just LOVE IT! Z Cat sounds like a guy I would have liked….I may give that carpet sliding a try – with all my weight I could go all the way from one end to the other!!!

      Hugs, Teddy

  8. What a fun poem. When our mom was a little girl, she loved watching the June Taylor dancers on TV and wanted to be one when she grew up. Of course, that could never happen. She did write a poem. https://www.thecatonmyhead.com/cat-in-the-chorus-line/
Next week’s photo is hysterical. Teddy, you are one lucky kitty that your mom and dad take you outside on these super cold days! Love to all. 9. We’re so happy you discovered tissue paper, T. I always get some when Mom gives me a gift. It sticks to my lips when I tear it up. It’s fun. I never did lie down on it. I prefer my fleece blankets for that.

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

  10. Tubby loved tissue paper. I would put it in his box and he would jump around in it. Another great poem. I remember watching the ladies do that on TV. The next photo looks fun.

    • GREAT job on the poem dear boys! Tissue paper is highly recommended. Mom gave me two brand new sheets of it this morning and took away the shredded up stuff I’d worked so hard to make the past couple of days. We think the dog with the leg is gonna be a FUN FUN photo for poetry don’t you? Sending you triple pawkisses and hugs!

      Love, Teddy
