SPARK On Monday

Standard

Hello Monday SPARK friends!  “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when she stopped blogging some time ago. It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it. Although Annie isn’t currently blogging, a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own.

Christmas is going to be here before you know it………….Thanksgiving comes and goes and all of a sudden the Christmas decorations pop up all over town and yes indeed – Christmas is about to arrive.    Do we think much about all the feelings associated with Christmas?    I find that I still feel much like a kid again at Christmas…….amazing for a 75 year old to still feel that way but I do.    But I think of it DIFFERENTLY than when I was a kid.    The feelings I have are well said in this cute little poster.

I know that we all know the REAL meaning of Christmas – but think too about how you feel about the occasion – peace, hope and love – a very nice “threesome” indeed!

Hugs, Pam

  1. Holidays are rich with memory, and in this covid world, we feel we have lost a bit of the excitement we used to have. Mama and papa always had a party for friends on New Year’s Day in our village that that will not happen this year, alas. They are trying to come up with something,..asking people to test is difficult but they are willing to test for anything! Still….many think covid is over, masks are silly, and since they have already had it they cannot get it again. Jeez, Louise….

    • New Covid variants are popping up every day – Covid is not over and maybe in some ways will never be over…..BUT life goes on – just not the same but still friends will do what they must to come together including masks….We have always had a “low key” Christmas preferring to have our own Christmas movies to watch, and Christmas music we love, etc. but if I were to have a gathering of friends, I think they would almost “expect” to be asked to mask up or test.

      • Well, you have the right kind of friends and yes, we do have friends who will test happily but one of our oldest and dearest (and more difficult) friends said, Ridiculous, test before coming to dinner, absurd….
Guess who’s not invited to dinner? Mama can meet his wife alone for coffee.

        • Good idea…..some people really are resistant to EVERYTHING – Covid overload I think….but one on one just to see an old friend over a coffee is one of the BEST holiday gifts to ourselves – ever.

  2. Well, I agree with you…(imagine that!) on both counts. The real meaning of Christmas and the threesome that followed. December will be here in a blink of the eye.

  3. The Christmas season does bring out the joy and love to many. Some anxiety in trying to please and give the right thing but when everyone comes together in love especially to help out a local cause it is a wonderful thing to behold. And there is no fear in spreading joy and love.

  4. Since I have not been working retail (retired 2001) I definitely feel the sense of peace, hope and love more than ever during Christmas. I really enjoy Christmas but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and not just for the food! I do have the Spirit of Christmas though! An Excellent Spark, Pam. Good Morning!

    • Good Morning Floridaaaaaaaaaaaaaadooooooooooo! Working retail definitely sours one on Christmas. Many years ago I got a job at a major department store – the only opening was in the baby department. I thought it would be fun – holy moly – Moms looking for baby bargains was QUITE an experience!! LOL I lasted about four weeks. We had a GREAT Thanksgiving and now we’re prepping for Teddy’s favorite holiday – CHRISTMASTREENAP Day! LOL

      Love, Pam and the Boop
