Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Thursday is here…..time to be thankful with Brian.    You can join us if you click his badge above and link up.    A chance to voice the things you’re thankful for.     I’m thankful that yesterday evening we finally got some rain – usually I’d be complaining but it was the 4th day they SAID it would rain and it didn’t – and FINALLY last night it did!!!   We needed some WET.   The thing I did NOT like was the thunder – it was amazing.   I hid under the basement steps (my safe spot in the whole house).     Also thankful that Mom, Dad and I are all feeling well and happy.

Happy also we have our Poetic Thursday email from Angel Sammy!    It’s below……….

Hello From The Rainbow Bridge!

Yes it’s me – just like it is every Thursday….time for us to talk about poetry.     Hopefully you have written a poem to share based on the photo I gave you last week.    It’s fun to do a poem inspired by a photo!    We have a very active poetry group here at the Bridge.    Lots of pets were inspired by the beautiful surroundings here to begin writing poetry and the added fun of having a photo to write a poem about appeals to lots of Angels!!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week for us to use as inspiration – my poem follows the photo:

“Sneaking A Snooze”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©August 10, 2022

My job at the library is sometimes tough

Late nights, early mornings my schedule is rough!

If things are quiet and nobody is around

I go to the Archives area where my “sleep shelf” can be found

I tuck myself in among the dry and dusty books

Nobody works there – so I get no dirty looks!

An hour of snoozing and I’m feeling energetic

When I told my girlfriend about my nap spot she said I was pathetic!

Well I suppose if you do that on your lunch hour and nobody is around to see you, maybe it’s not so bad to curl up on an empty shelf and take a quick nap.    On the other hand, maybe too many late nights followed by napping on the shelves just might cause you to lose your job AND your favorite napping spot!

SO – want to see what photo I found for us all to use for NEXT Thursday’s poetic get-together?    How’s this one?!

I would NOT want to be aboard that ship (although I suppose it could be a structure on a beach….not sure).    At any rate, that wave would be enough to make me get out of there ASAP!     Will make for interesting poetry though.

SO – that’s it for our get together this week – if you wrote a poem for the guy on the shelf photo – let us know in my comments and give us a link because we would LOVE to read it.

Meanwhile dear friends – please be happy, kind and healthy……………………

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Light, Angel Sammy

Oh Angel Sammy you ALWAYS ALWAYS make me smile………………………..

Hugs, Teddy

  1. I heard one could learn while sleeping in tomes, so I grabbed some shut-eye just before going home. While snoozing on shelves, my brain did not grovel. When my girlfriend asked what happened, I recited a whole novel!

  2. Wow, tthere are peoople on tthat pier, at least I think its a pier…who knows. A good teaser iamge, too, LOL!

I love your poem…we had to fire some staff at my workplace…they actually WERE sleeping on the job, on beds in empty rooms…sheesh!

    It Was A Good Book

I was so absorbed in my book,
    I didn’t hear the call
    ‘Its time to close!’
Then I saw no peeps at all,
    And I was all alone.
I found a gap in the shelves by the wall.
I pushed some books to make room
    And in I did crawl,
    To dream of my book,
While I sleep in this nook.

    • HAHAHAHA……that’s a GREAT poem for the photo…………… As for having to fire employees for “sleeping on the job” – that happened in one of the hospitals I worked in several times many years ago. Especially on the midnight to 8!!

  3. That is a fun poem, Angel Sammy! We desperately need rain and are under a high fire risk alert. I just looked at the weather station and we have reached 91. The forecasters said it wouldn’t get as high as the last heatwave but we are not far off it!

Angel Sammy, I think that sounds like a girlfriend thing to say… have to laugh! It is almost time for lunch and I have some leftover Grouper 🙂

  5. We know cats like to sleep in strange places and in strange positions, but we think this guy would have been more comfy on the floor. We enjoyed Angel Sammy’s poem. Our mom did write one, and here’s the link: https://thecatonmyhead.com/the-library-cat-thankfuls/
Teddy that thunder has been crazy. It thundered all day yesterday and then we had about 10 drops of rain. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, angel Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer, Kizmet, Audrey & Raleigh

    • We think your poem for the sleeping on the shelf guy was WONDERFUL. I have to wonder if this photo was staged – probably – but he really does look ASLEEP! LOL Not sure why the thunder is so HUGE this year – but we often have way more thunder than rain.
