SPARK on Monday

Standard

It’s SPARK Monday……………!  What is this SPARK thing all about?   “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when she stopped blogging some time ago.  It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it.  Although Annie isn’t currently blogging, a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own.   Why?   Because sometimes we need a little “spark” in our lives and these posts were meant to at least be a PART of that effort.   Please feel free to post your own SPARK on your blog and let everyone know you have…….we get energy from each other that way.

Ahhh yes……I’ve been thinking again about aging…….something you don’t much think about when you’re young but you do think about it when you’re “beyond young” (my way of saying older!).   Anyway, I saw this quote and thought – YES!

Not to be picking on the young – after all I was one of those once (!) – but it kind of seems to me that this quote is “right on”.    WAY back when I was young, looks were quite important as was what you had/owned – kind of car, furniture, home…….now it seems like all that is “fluff” – what’s really important is if you can be somewhat proud about having passed through all of that and feel POSITIVE about who you are NOW!    Well all I know is it FEELS GOOD.

  1. Great SPARK today Pam & Teddy! I used to spend 1/2 an hour n hair; then 1/2 hour on make-up….then getting dressed & everything matching!
I was raised that way…believed I HAD to look 100% all the time (except when I was a Tow Truck Operator). I stopped doing all this after 2006 (after the almsot fatal attack on me!)
I still dress as nicely as I can (being overweight it is hard to ‘look’ as good). I wear little to no make-up & keep my hair in a braid.
I was never vain as such; just brain washed to “look my best”….
I think what is on the inside is more important now….
    Thanx!

    • Good for you……! Putting the emphasis on what’s in our hearts is sure a lot more important than how our hair and makeup is looking – I think the younger generation is in this mode nowadays. Time moves on though and they will learn – as we did – that what’s in your heart is so much more important !!

  2. Such a wonderful Spark to start the week with Pam! I meditate and journal every morning and I LOVE to start the week with your Spark! They are always purrfect! This one is especially so as I have recently encountered a tremendous amount of ageism with the Volunteer computer work I have been doing. Thank you! I hope you have a magnificent week. Barb

    • I did too before I left. Some were blatant about it. Then, it stopped. Whew. I always say if you and I can cut the mustard still and do a right smart job of it…we are gold. They finally figure that out. XOX

    • Thanks Barb. I’m glad the SPARK spoke to you – I’m sorry you have some issues to deal with considering the computer work you’re doing is as a volunteer – volunteers are the backbone of so many things and EXPERIENCE should be recognized for what its’ worth….which is a LOT. Keep strong.
