SPARK on Monday

Monday – time for SPARKS!   If you don’t know what posting a SPARK is all about, here’s the history!   SPARKS is a Monday tradition – how did it start and what IS IT?  “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when her blog was hacked some time ago.  It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it.   Although Annie isn’t currently blogging, a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own.   Why?   Because sometimes we need a little “spark” in our lives and these posts were meant to at least be a PART of that effort.   Please feel free to post your own SPARK on your blog and let everyone know you have…….we get energy from each other that way.

We’re now officially on the “countdown to Christmas” here in my house.    When we got all the decorations out for the tree Teddy went crazy…….he sniffed everything to refamiliarize himself with things and after the tree was up, promptly took up residence UNDER the tree as usual.

Preparing for the holiday – especially for Christmas – has always been a special time for me and I clearly remember the excitement I felt as a little girl.    Age brings more reflection of course………and when I saw this poster with the lines from a very familiar and beloved song, I thought it really was a PERFECT SPARK for today.    I know that I’m not the only one who prays for PEACE ON EARTH and for a KINDER world with more goodwill among humankind.    BUT Mr. Longfellow said it better than I ever could.

Let’s hope we come away from the holiday season with more peace in our hearts AND more importantly IN THIS WORLD of ours.

Hugs, Pam

  1. Amen and Amen to THAT! Yes sir, its perfect.

I have to start getting my decorations out…its a big job, but it looks so pretty and festive when its all done.

I might not be ‘in class’ on Tuesday…the tree dudes are coming…I have to keep the hooligans away from the windows, they will go ballistic when they see/hear all that racket in their yard…but at least its a one day job…I think! I will be glad when that tree is gone, every time there is wind I worry about if it might fall on the house. The birds might not be appreciative of losing it though, much more all the squirrels! LOL! We have plenty of trees in the back for all of those creatures. More walnuts, oaks and maples and other species too. Now our winter job will be to find a more pleasurable shade tree to plant in its place, or close to where it was. (To plant in early spring.)

    Have a great day!

    • Tree work is so noisy but it needs to happen when there’s a tree that’s “questionable” as to where it would land in a wind storm! I’m sure the squirrels and other critters will abandon whatever homes they have the minute the tree guys start doing their thing. They will find another home!

  2. Totally perfect. We continue to ptay for peace, and it probably won’t happen in our lifetime, but just maybe a future generation will see a peaceful world. 3. Love that Spark! We are into the Christmas spirit. Mom is sad that she can’t see The Nutcracker Ballet at Lincoln Center in NY. But we will find it on TV like we did last year. Christmas warmth will always win…

    Love and licks,

I wanna know what YOU've got to say!!
