It’s SPARK day and because we in the USA are celebrating this coming Thursday, I have a THANKSGIVING SPARK today. If you don’t know what posting a SPARK is all about, here’s the history! SPARKS is a Monday tradition – how did it start and what IS IT? “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when her blog was hacked some time ago. It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it. Although Annie isn’t currently blogging, a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own. Why? Because sometimes we need a little “spark” in our lives and these posts were meant to at least be a PART of that effort. Please feel free to post your own SPARK on your blog and let everyone know you have…….we get energy from each other that way!
There are so many amazing quotes out there about giving thanks – for what you have, what you wish you had, what you should be grateful for, etc. and I could probably post fifty of them here that I really just LOVE…….but I had to choose one. Just one. One for this week and that sort of sums up how I feel about being thankful.
I know a lot of people who talk only about what they wish they had. I suppose we actually ALL do that once in a while but I’m talking about people who are never ever happy with their situation. If you just stop and think about people who have so very little – who are hungry, have no shelter, have tragedy to face – then most of us can realize just how fortunate we actually are to have what we have. When I was young I DID think a lot about what I didn’t have but I hoped that in time I would have those things. While I followed a rocky road – I eventually GOT THERE.
I am VERY thankful for what I have – and YES – I do have enough.
May those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving enjoy every minute of the holiday – maybe for the first time in a long time with your family and friends which is in itself something to be THANKFUL FOR.
We are going to all be together, but not till the day after as I have to be at my work…its my turn to work the holiday…(That means that thankfully I will get Christmas off!).
It will be good to have our sons here, to share our special meal together. I shall have to spend tomorrow planning, then the next ones preparing and Friday I will cook, and cook…and when we all sit down together I will be thankful for a chair to sit down on, LOL!
Then I will try and dream up a poem for your Thursday poetry day!?! Oh wait, I will be at work on poetry day!
I hope you and your whole family will have a most wonderful gathering of thankfulness.

Oh, and are we ever. Mama learned at a young age that things do not make you happy, and that what makes one joyful is friendship, caring family, and sweet animals around in one’s life all the time. But as always, we are thankful for YOU and your family and your wonderful Sparks.

At 70 all I want is a sense of peace, good health for SSNS and our friends and our family. I am very thankful for a Thanksgiving with new hope for us all with regard to the vaccine that fights Covid. I hope we all have a joyous Thanksgiving with those we love and… and homemade noodles for us… hahahahah!

Oh those homemade noodles – you are so lucky to be able to have those AND I hope that you and SSNS STAY healthy and will be able to enjoy this holiday of Thanks with friends or family or both. On the other hand, some of my most memorable Thanksgivings have been with just me and my Dave. Wish I could give you a Thanksgiving Day hug……………

Wonderful spark. We should always remind ourselves that we have it pretty good compared to others who are struggling.

Life seems to toggle back and forth between having and not having, but as it moves on, one is blessed if understanding comes that having “things” is not all that important, but having moments and time and sharing is … and as we move farther on with our lives, we find ourselves so often disposing of those same “things” that may have once seemed important. If only the wisdom that comes with age could be given to those who are younger …

I guess we’re all meant to find these things out in our own time – if our minds are open enough to take good advice and experience from “those who know” that is.

Throughout my travels in this world, I’ve seen many who by US standards, were beyond poor but showed a peaceful happiness in their faces and demeanor. They’ve inspired me to appreciate and relish what the bounty I enjoy. Happy Thanksgiving week!

Another great Spark. The only thing I wish I had but don’t is good health, but we learn to live with what life throws at us.

Brilliant. The eye of man is never satisfied when he can’t be happy with what he has.
Because Monday poetry was about records, my Spark is about that, too, although in a slightly different way.
