Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Happy Thursday – let’s be THANKFUL together this Thursday before Thanksgiving.    Most of us think more about what we’re thankful for this time of the year.    I know we’re all very thankful to be healthy – not have had any health concerns this past year – my Mom had her hip replacement with no problems and both my parents have had a number of other health concerns but they ALL turned out to be things that could be taken care of easily.    I myself have been HEALTHY – no medical problems other than an ear issue which was easily resolved.    THANKFUL – YOU BETCHA WE ARE!

Also Thankful that my brother who has every right to be taking it easy at the Rainbow Bridge as an Angel is still involved with our blog – he never fails to send a poem in every Thursday and has a lot of fun finding photos for everyone who wants to write a poem every week based on a photo.    He works hard to find fun photos and I think that those of you who participate and enjoy writing a poem have a great time sharing those poems and working on them every week.

So with that in mind – here’s the email from Angel Sammy the Poet!

Time For Poetry!

Hi everyone.   I too am grateful – so very grateful that I can still enjoy some quality time with my little brother Teddy and all of you every week.   Sometimes when we leave for the Bridge we find we want to remain engaged with those we’ve left behind and other times it’s just best for us to work at the Bridge and let our humans adjust to life without us.   Well, I just couldn’t totally let go.   I may one of these days but for now I’m still writing poetry and hoping you enjoy writing it thanks to the photos I give you.

Here’s the photo from last week – you had a whole week to write a poem using it as inspiration as did I………….my poem follows the photo!

“Special Brothers”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell              ©November 17, 2021

Buddies and pals from beginning to end

A boy and his dog – no greater friend.

Same age, same shirt, same undying love

These relationships are truly gifts from above

No questions asked, the loyalty is for real

The secrets they have nobody can steal

When you feel lost or misunderstood you can count on one thing

These special brothers’ love makes their little hearts sing.

While the photo is a boy and his dog it could be any pet…………there’s just some special “thing” between humans and animals.    Little kids really do seem to understand and more easily “communicate” with animals – maybe because they have fewer worries, less distractions from life, more uncomplicated emotions – WHATEVER it is – it’s pure MAGIC.    If humans are LUCKY – they keep this feeling FOREVER.

SO – how about you – did you write a poem this week?  Let us know in comments and give us your link so we can read your poem OK?    That’s what we do – share!   Now here’s the photo I found for all of us to use for next week’s poem.

MAKE SURE AND VISIT THOSE BLOGGERS WHO HAVE GIVEN US LINKS TO THEIR POEMS TODAY – You may discover a new blog to follow but at the very least you will enjoy reading their poetic “take” on the photo today.

Uhoh…….well, there’s always a first time.   We all know there’s a cute story behind this photo but it is also fun to write a poem about it.    Go for it!   Have fun with it!   We’ll share poems next Thursday even though it’s THANKSGIVING Thursday!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy for another fun Thursday……………I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO look forward to seeing you every week!    I love you!

Hugs, Teddy

  1. Those two youngsters are like twins from other mothers!

    A shaggy sweet pooch,
    And a cute little boy.
Got from his pup a big smooch,
    And a truckload of joy!

And what on earth is that wee one doing in the road?? Oops, where are his mom or dad! That reminds me of the day I happened to be at my kitchen window, and lo I saw two 2 year olds (yup, twins…), riding their trikes across our road to the field. Yikes! I ran over there and told their Mom who was yacking on her phone…and had no clue what her twins were up to, let alone the danger they were in. Sigh…that mom needed some lessons about how to take care of her kids…I heard those two have grown up to be good students and not too naughty anymore…thankfully!

  3. Uh, oh, a copper,
And I was only toodling along!
    Maybe he’ll forget it
If I sing him a song:
    Oh, Mr Policeman, sir,
I was only out for a lark
But from now on I’ll remember
To take my little car to the park!
    Or stick to the sidewalk
    Until my lark is over
And hope that little old lady MOVES
    Before I run her OVER!

We are always thankful for your health, all three of you, and love Sammy’s poetry.
Off to make Plum Puddings with mama,..

  4. Sweet! Brothers from another Mother! And the purrfect poem. And Sammy, we love that you stay involved! It makes our hearts sing! Queen Nellie is always around, and pops up (like today (Friday). We are a little behind. We got SNOW yesterday! Mom was out shovelling 3 times yesterday and needs to get out there again. But the sky has blue this morning, and it is above freezing.
