Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Happy Thursday!   Time for “double” day because not only do we share what we’re thankful for on Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop but we also have poetry fun with Angel Sammy today.    First up though is always THANKFULS.    If you would like to be in the Hop and share your thankfuls, click the badge above and join at the LINK.

I am thankful that my Mom is getting her Covid Booster shot tomorrow.    My Dad will be getting his soon.    I want both of my parents protected to the MAX because I don’t know what I’d do without them!     I’m also thankful our beautiful Fall is falling – – – finally the leaves are brilliant colors…..oranges, yellows, reds, golds, just gorgeous and I do love to chase and lie in piles of leaves.    There are a million things around us to be thankful for and Brian’s Hop lets us FOCUS on all we have to be grateful for.     Thanks Brian!

Now on to Angel Sammy!

Time for Poetry Fun!

Hi friends…………we’ve been busy at the Rainbow Bridge this past week but I always carve out time when I’m on my cloud to work on my poem for Thursdays.    I gave you all a whopper of a photo last week to write a poem about for today.    Hope you had FUN with it – I did with mine!

Here’s the photo I gave you all to use for today………………..

“Walk On The Wild Side”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©October 27, 2021

Backstage models primp, preen and dress

Getting ready to pose and walk in front of the press

Outfits chosen by designers with care

Hoping the fashion magazine reps are out there!

They say first impressions are of great import

This “dreadlocked” model must be a good sport!

Gliding around on those “high stepping” shoes

I’m thinking this photo won’t make “Fashion News”.

A mish mash of styles and oh my aching feet

Imagine maneuvering the crosswalk on a busy street?

People would stop and wonder “what is this I’m seeing?”

Then they’d hold their parcels close and down the sidewalk they’d be fleeing!

Yes I know – I was a little rough on the poor model in the photo.    There are some things in the photo I hadn’t noticed until I’d written the poem – like did you  notice the people behind the model are NOT looking at her?    They’re looking away on the opposite side of the stage……..pretending they didn’t see what they saw?     This is probably an extreme popular outfit somewhere but something tells me my Mom won’t be purchasing any of these items any time soon!

NOW – this is where I usually give you a photo for you to use when you write NEXT week’s poem BUT we’re going to do something DIFFERENT for next week.    What you ask?  We’re going to have what I call………………

Find a photo you like – your own photo or one on the internet or ANYWHERE and write a poem about it – instead of me giving you a photo – you find your own photo of any kind and write your poem using it as inspiration.    FUN right?    I think so.    I am going to do the same thing and share my poem with you next Thursday so take this coming week to find a photo and write your poem.    Anything goes.    Have fun with it.    This is just for next Thursday – then we’ll return to ME giving YOU a photo OK?   OK!

Now start looking for a photo!    Or maybe you already have one in mind?

I can’t wait to see what you come up with…….

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Hugs to each of you – Angel Sammy

Angel Sammy that’s a fun idea…………………I can’t wait to see what YOU write for next week.    I’ll see you then.

Love, Teddy

    • In the modeling world you wear what you’re told to wear and while I suspect the really WELL KNOWN models may have a lot more power, the average one will wind up looking like this 99% of the time! LOL I’m really glad about the booster appointment this afternoon.

      Hugs, Pam

  1. I am going to go out with the camera today hoping for some prettier color…IF it doesn’t rain and I think it’s supposed to the next three days.

  2. Great poem. I have never understood fashion shows because no one ever wears that kind of stuff around where i live. I like the idea of picking a photo to write about. Have a great day. XO

    • Glad you like the idea for next week – we’ll see how it works out – maybe one day we’ll do it again! Fashion shows are definitely for the general population……Their target audience is definitely not ME!

      Hugs, Pam

  3. I didn’t see the photo until today as last week we were on the ship and I was not commenting. I immediately thought of Lou Reed’s Take a Walk on the Wild Side too thinking she could be a he!
Glad your mum is able to get her booster. We should be able to have ours in 2 weeks. We get our flu shots on Saturday.

    • Oh Jackie I examined that photo so closely because my first impression was it was a he…..something about the face – either a shadow or a mustache under the nose maybe???!! Anyway, it is such a hodge podge of weird stuff it’s tough to figure out if it was a “WORST DRESSED” competition or WHAT! LOL Just home from getting my booster……Glad you all will be getting yours too.

      Hugs, Pam

    • Well Mom got home an hour ago and so far so good but I’ll see how she is in the morning! She did fine with the two Covid shots when she had them so hopefully the booster will be AOK!

      Hugs, Teddy

  4. That’s an excellent thankful Teddy, our Mom and Dad will be getting their booster shot before too long. Funny poem, bravo Angel Sammy. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thrusday Blog Hop!

  5. Hope you don’t have too many side effects from your booster.
Hubby had his and he’s fine.
Since I just had my flu shot I will wait a bit before I schedule my booster…I don’t want to compromise my body too much all at once, since I have had reactions in the past…

If I would even think about those so called shoes, I’d have fallen already! That head gear is a mop gone wrong! Or did someone throw a sea monster on her head??

Those little light-bulbs remind me of snooping ghosts…LOL! Or maybe they are captured fireflies??
Maybe all the heads are turned for an even moire bizarre get up on another model(victim)?

    Sorry I didn’t get to making a poem this week…maybe next time…
    …but I don’t see the inspiration/image/prompt??

    • We’re having a “DO YOUR OWN THING” poetry day next week – read through the whole blog post and you’ll see. It will be fun – you pick any photo you want and write a poem about it! Just this one time then we’ll go back to the “usual” way. This photo was just one of MANY I saw that were just plain weird when I googled “Strange Fashion Photos”. Yeah – STRANGE is the word!

      Hugs, Pam
p.s. so far so good with the booster shot.

  6. We LOVE your thankfuls! And the poem was terrific! What an outfit! I can see Mom wearing something like that (NOT-She can barely walk on her own 2 feet without falling). Hmmm…a poem from a photo we choose…that sounds like a ton of fun! We hope you guys had a marvellously happy day! We did, it was cold, rainy and Mom did not go out, we snuggled on the sofa most of the day.

    • We have a snuggly day ahead today because it’s raining like mad outside…..Dad even said maybe we’ll have a fire in the fireplace today! OH BOY! That outfit on the model was – well – more like a Halloween costume than a fashion statement. HAHAHA

      Hugs, Teddy

  8. Our peeps got their boosters a few weeks ago, and then they got their flu shots. So here’s hoping they stay well.

Can you believe we are JUST starting to see some pretty fall colors. We don’t think the colors will last long because it is so late in the season, but they sure are pretty to see.

Fun poem. Mom could NEVER wear those shoes!!!

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  9. Twice now i’ve tried to leave a response, i think i’m being labeled as spam.

Good for your parents, getting their shots! Not only have i had mine, including booster, i’ve had my flu shot. You can’t be too careful.

Excellent poem! Although i feel so sorry for the models and how thin they have to stay. This one i want to take home and feed!

The idea of choosing our own next week is a good one, i will have to dig into my archives.

    My poem is over here.

    • Since you’re a regular commenter have no idea why you wound up in SPAM but indeed there was ONE comment from you there which we said to WORDPRESS – WAS NOT SPAM! Maybe it won’t happen again – sorry!
