SPARK on Monday

Standard

Hello everyone!   Time for us to start off another week with our SPARK.  Good time to start off with something to really THINK about right?   “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when her blog was hacked some time ago.  It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it.   Although Annie isn’t currently blogging, a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own.   Why?   Because sometimes we need a little “spark” in our lives and these posts were meant to at least be a PART of that effort.   Please feel free to post your own SPARK on your blog and let everyone know you have…….we get energy from each other that way!

My husband and I took a week off and went to Maine which we had missed last year due to the pandemic.    We just needed a little break………..we got it.    It was wonderful and it made us relax in new surroundings and think about things in a different light.    One of those things we thought about was “we miss normal”.     We all know that normal may have changed over the past year-plus but there IS a normal.    There may be some adjustments that stay with us but we will go back to a lot of what we all think of as “normal” life – I’m just sure of it.    SO, my SPARK is just a hope for the future………………….and my advice for everyone because for the time being – THIS is the way to refresh your brain/spirit!

Hugs, Pam

    • We are glad too – we missed last year but then EVERYONE missed a lot last year. We really enjoyed our favorite place again – it was nice to see that SOME things just NEVER change!

  1. Mmm, never really thought there was much of a normal before, so have no expectations of a normal now or in the future … it just is what it is, day by day, an adventure always.

  2. That is the truth. And strangely enough, though we know that is true, breaking routine is hard to do many times. We love it, and we are exhilarated with that break in routines, swear we will continue doing it..but we quickly sink back into routine. A vacation is a welcome break that we anticipate and enjoy however.

    • You’re right about breaking routine being hard – I think vacation forces us to get outside that box and we rediscover that the world is BIGGER than routine. I’m OK with routine though – it’s comfy…..outside the box is exhilarating.

  3. That is the perfect Spark when you return from a vacation. A break is always a good thing – even if it is an hour-long coffee break with a good friend. It clears your head.

    • That’s so true…..a break can be invigorating because it’s out of the routine of daily life sometimes…..as simple as a coffee break can be, it gives you new surroundings, someone to talk to (or not – by yourself works too) and maybe a new attitude that you take back home again. Worked for us!

    • Oh that sounds like FUN!! Both of those locations are outside so I’m guessing they have no restrictions unless you’re indoors maybe to eat, etc. Two day trip is a PERFECT break! DO IT!

  4. Nice Spark and idea. I really want a break with a trip to Tortola, but unless I can click my heels together and get there, I don’t think that will ever happen again. So happy you and David had the opportunity to get away and go to one of your favorite places. Hugs and love, Janet

    • I wish you and Tom could go to your happy place – Tortola is a dream spot and SOOOOOOOO different than “life here”…..plus you guys love it there. Maine is our Tortola I guess…..it was just as wonderful this time around as it has ALWAYS been.

  5. So true. Mom and Dad have been getting to some of the grands’ football and baseball games. We had such a nice weekend of good weather that they really enjoyed the change. And WE are happy to say we are really enjoying the cooler temps:)

  6. Yes, yes, yes..take a break and see what you make, maybe bake a cake, give your brain a little shake, pull up a stake, you’ll be so awake if you just take that break! So glad you relaxed and had a lovely few days.

    • It was totally fabulous……….maybe because it’s our “special place”….but also because getting a break from routine is invigorating – something that lasts a long time if you let it!

  7. We like your Spark. During our break from normal, we’ve decided there was a lot more stress we allowed into our lives than we really needed to do. In adjusting to our new normal, we’re working hard to make it much stress reduced.

  8. There is another expression: A change is as good as a vacation.
And sometimes at my work, just leaving the area for a few moments to chat with someone about not work is a big help, it refreshes your brain cells to tackle the job(s) you still need to do in difficult times/situations.

Very slowly…but surely we shall get there; there may be bumps along the road, BUT we WILL arrive to whatever we consider normal…at least I sure hope so!
