Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday everyone……………Brian is the host of THANKFUL THURSDAY and if you’d like to share what you’re thankful for this week, just click the badge and link up with him like we have.

Thursday is also Poetic Thursday with my Angel brother Sammy.    He gives us all a photo and we use it to inspire a poem which we have a week to write and share with each other on Thursday.

First though is THANKFULS – I’m thankful that my Mom and Dad have put up with my lack of cooperation getting my ear medication for a couple of weeks – my vet wants to see me tomorrow for a re-check.   Let’s hope I don’t have to continue with the ear stuff because I am not a happy boy when I get those drops.    I’m also THANKFUL that Mom and Dad got my nails trimmed without me hardly noticing – we were all out on the picnic table (I love to lie on top of it) and Mom whipped out my nail scissors and had me trimmed before I had time to SCREAM!

As for the poetry side of Thursday…………….here’s the email I got from Angel Sammy with his poem AND a new photo for NEXT week’s poem day.

Greetings from the Rainbow Bridge!

Hello friends – ready for some poetry exchange?   I hope you wrote one to share.   Remember to give us your link in our comments so we can read what you wrote.    If you didn’t write one – WHY NOT?   Just kidding but like I’ve said many times before, anyone can write a poem.   Poetry often doesn’t even RHYME – it tells a story in many different kinds of forms.     I thought it might be fun for me to give you a photo one week – then give you a week to write a poem inspired from that photo – then share it the following Thursday so HERE WE ARE!

Here’s last week’s photo and MY poem to go with that photo:

“Sweet Treat for the Sweet”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©August 25, 2021

Mama Mia would you just look at this array!

So many choices I don’t know what to say!

Flavors in abundance from A to Z

Just reading the list of flavors sets my imagination free!

Even only a little taste of each one would be fun

Imagine standing at the counter and trying to pick ONE

While the line behind you grows longer as you pick and choose

Then finally you hold your cherished cone – and drop it on your shoes!

HAHA………sorry about that………I simply could NOT resist that ending.    My Mom says she remembers in the very old days when the ice cream man would come down their street sometimes she’d get an ice cream cone and while running back home with her treat dropping it and crying her heart out that her Mom wouldn’t let her eat it off the sidewalk.   Poor Mom.

SO – I have a photograph for all of you who will have a whole week to come up with the poem to go with this photo – are you up for the challenge?   Oh come on – give it a try.

Uhoh….windy days and kilts are not a good combination!

This ought to be a fun one for a poem………………………I hope you will share your poem with us for this photo NEXT Thursday right here.    I’ll share mine too.     Meanwhile, have a happy and healthy week………….

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Heavenly Hugs, Angel Sammy

Oh Angel Sammy that ice cream looks SOOOOOOOOOOO good.    Mom let me have a taste of ice cream once and it was TOO COLD.    Not much you can do about that right?   HAHA    I’ll see you next week but feel free to visit me in my dreams whenever you can.

WAITING FOR YOUR VISIT!  Love, Teddy

  1. That kilt dressed up dude chose the wrong day…LOL! And in such a public place as the station…oopsie! He needs weights on the hem…

    Ice Cream!
    Such abundance great…
    Tantalizing choices…
    For my tastebuds a dream…
Oh MY! I can hardly wait!

A scoop of each please…Thanks! Oh wait, its not the Ms Dingleberry Cafeteria??

I remember when I was about 6 or 7, dad took my sister and I to a parade downtown, and afterwards treated us to a scooped cone…which for both of us ended with a cooled sidewalk and no tastebuds rejoicing. Phooey. So Dad had two unhappy gals on each hand…LOL! The sidewalk had one pink plop and one white one…tee-hee. The moral is, never give ice cream cones to kids who are walking with you on a warm summer’s day.

  2. Great poem Angel Sammy! It reminds me of one of the times our friends were staying and we had taken them to an old fishing village. We told them to be careful of the thieving seagulls. Next thing one swooped down and grabbed Barrie’s ice cream in it’s claws and left him with an almost empty cone!

  3. So is there anyone who doesn’t love ice cream? Our love of it is in our poem over at Zoolatry …
(oh, and always wondering just what is under those kilts? maybe next week some poet will do the
    big reveal?)

    • “Big reveal” – HAHA. Actually we had a tour guide in Scotland who wore his kilt up on a windy hill and was just a bit sorry he did! We will check out your poem today Miss Ann!

    • We loved your poem today – and when Mom and Dad were in Scotland she bought herself a kilt with a special kilt pen and whenever she sees it in her closet she thinks of the guy who conducted their tour of Edinburgh Castle and the BREEZY DAY they had. LOL

  8. Teddy, we hope your ear problem clears up soon. Be a good boy and let Mom do those drops.

We are all drooling here after reading all the super poems and seeing all those delicious flavors of ice cream on so many blogs. We think we each need a big bowl to celebrate.

  9. My prayer is that you won’t need any more drops. Maybe next time an ointment would be better, it’s not so cold going into the ears and it tends to stay better than drops.

Excellent poem! That ending made me laugh, although it wouldn’t be funny when it happened, only after in the telling.

    My poem is over here.

  10. I too am thankful that you did not notice your nails getting cut…there could have been some scratching and yewolling! And Sammy, your poem about the ice cream bar is purrfect! And we may write a poem about the guy in a kilt. Mom was at the Scottish Games in Chilliwack when a windstorm came up…it was, ummmm, interesting…(BTW our human brother Alex has 2 kilts).

  11. That is so awesome that your mama can snip your nails before you even have time to freak out. That is something to be thankful for. Nails are an ordeal around here. On the upside, I get some treats when I am finished.

    • Poet Binky you did a GREAT job with your poem for the ice cream photograph we used this week. BRAVO! My ears are better – my doctor guy said it was OK for Mom to stop with the drops (thank heavens). I left a comment on your blog saying I was glad your company was gone so you could enjoy some peace and quiet.

Hugs and thanks for being poetic with us!

  14. OMC, Sammy, what an incredible poem. Mom was laughing out loud at that last line. You know our mom wrote a poem, but she figures at this point, no one will come back here to find the link. Just know that, as always, we absolutely loved your poem. Next week’s photo looks like fun!
