SPARK on Monday

Standard

“SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when her blog was hacked some time ago.  It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it.    Sometimes we need a little “spark” in our lives and these posts were meant to at least be a PART of that effort.   Please feel free to post a SPARK of your own on your blog and let everyone know you have…….we get energy from each other that way!

I spent a whole lot of time with our cat Teddy this weekend.    He has been loving the weather lately and even if it’s been fairly miserable for US, he’s happy with heat and humidity.   Anyway, he’s always happy to have us with him out in the yard.   He will come up to us both from wherever he’s exploring in the yard and give our legs big hugs…..then back to his spot for more napping or exploring.   It’s like he’s “touching base”.    That’s what we call it.    I think he just appreciates that we’re there in case he needs us.    But I also think it’s because he really does enjoy spending time with us like we enjoy spending time with him.    Unconditional love…………it’s great isn’t it?    We seem to get that from our pets even if sometimes it’s in short supply from humans!!!

Just one reason why my life has always been happier when I’ve had a pet!

Hugs, Pam

  1. Oh, we agree with all of this. And sleeping with cats was one of the answers a friend gave to mama when mama asked what are your favorite things in life: I love sleeping with mama and papa but lately I have moved to another bed in the middle of the night. Who knows why? Then I return before they wake up. Teddy, YOU are our Monday spark!

    • Awwwww…..thanks Loulou! I occasionally hop up on Mom’s side of the bed and put my head on her pillow – I only stay for maybe 5-10 minutes but it’s just my way of letting her know I’m watching over her. Sometimes I try to eat her hair too (hahahahahaha) and she doesn’t seem to like that part!

  2. That is a wonderful and so true spark!!
Dalton ‘loves’ me so much that when I am crouching to weed or pick something up in the yard or in the house, he wants to kiss me and cuddle. LOL!! Such good timing…and since he is relatively small at 18 pounds, he sometimes comes and curls up behind me on the chair I am sitting on at my desk.
I used to not like that, but it seems its his little way of showing love.

Benji will come up and decide its time to ‘get in my face from the side of my desk chair…

Now if only Dalton would be that way with the hubby…

Pets?? We need them as much or more than I can begin to describe!

    • I totally agree………they fill the “empty spots” – they make us laugh when we really do need to – they show affection in an incredibly wide range of ways – and they are ALWAYS “there” when we need them. It’s hard to describe what they “bring” to our relationships with them but each one is so special.

  3. Like Dianna, I too love your Monday spark. I read the other comments because they are always so spot on. It, the spark, frequently could be my own. Why I unfailingly respond to it. Yes, pets give us the love we need just as we ourselves give them that love in return. And why when they leave us it is so sharp a pain in our hearts.

  6. You’ve got the hots at your house, have you? We DID have ’em, and other parts of Canada have ’em, too, but my house? MOUSES! It’s damp and raw and I’m tellin’ ya, I’m gonna have to haul out the heavy blankies ’round here. Well haul ’em off the bed, that is, so that I can snuggle up in ’em and keep warm. Don’t know what the peeps will do. MOUSES!

    • WOW! So it’s cool there? What I’d give for some COOL! It’s almost too hot to be outside but I persevere because it’s what I do! Can’t wait for Fall even though it seems like yesterday I couldn’t wait for Summer! Hugs, Teddy

    • You’re right – Teddy is always aware when we have entered the garage (the beep of the security system) and waits inside the kitchen door for us – EVERY TIME! That’s love (or hunger??!!)
