Friendly Friday Fill-In Hop

Standard

Happy Friday everybody – time to fill in the blanks.   Our co-hosts have given us four sentences and we will in the blanks they leave for us to “personalize”.   Such fun to do that and if you want to join in, click the badge above and look for the LINK to link up with us.

Here are this week’s sentences.    If my Mom filled in the blank – the words are in BLUE and if it was ME filling them in, the words are in ORANGE.

1. I am overdue to get my eyes checked BUT made an appointment today – earliest appointment was in July!
2. I am so sick of chasing but never catching chipmunks and squirrels – they are too fast for me!
3. Dried cranberries is a strange snack I like to eat.
4. My toy basket is one of the most random things I own.   (it’s filled with all kinds of random toys because if Mom sees something she thinks I’d like – she gets it – I rarely like it!)

And that is that!     Another week of words and filling in the blanks.    Sure is fun getting to know all my friends better.    See you same time next week everyone!

  1. We are way overdue to for eye appointments so I booked up the other day and we both go in on Monday. Parking is so difficult in Plymouth so we decided to take the Park and Ride bus. It will be the first time we have been on public transport since before the pandemic started.

    • Smart idea to take the bus though – and so glad you were able to get appointments that quickly – I have to wait a month but I just feel a lot better knowing I HAVE an appointment period!

  2. Eyes?? Yup, I need to get that done too, and several other kinds of checkups.
Petcretary dries her own cranberries, that way there is NO added sugar. They really don’t even need it that much. They are tart, but its a good tart!!
I have doggy toys here tat just gather dust. LOL!

    • Made my appointment YESTERDAY for eyes – first available appointment in July – everyone is “catching up” with checkups now! I love cranberries – never thought of drying my own though!

  3. Don’t worry about not catching the chipmunks and squirrels. The fun is in the chase! And I think you might regret it if you caught a squirrel – that fluffy tail makes them look cute but they’re rats in disguise! 😀

  4. Frankie caught a squirrel once so there is hope for you, Teddy. I had an eye exam recently because my dry eyes were causing me to see double but I have not been tested for glasses in a long time. I am overdue for that but since I just need reading glasses I am in no hurry. I have read glasses actually weaken your eyes over time. Since I need glasses to function I just ordered lenses one step weaker than what I need. I figure I will make due until I can’t reasonably function anymore and then I will be reevaluated.

    • Well I’ve worn glasses since I was a little girl – got my eyesight from my Dad I guess who wore glasses his whole life. I will need cataract surgery too as soon as they are ready for that and have early glaucoma (my Mom had that) so I have some medical stuff that I need to get checked. I’ve never been told glasses weaken your eyes over time but I did have an eye doctor tell me once many years ago “your eyes will get worse but you’ll probably (!) never go blind”………gee…………that sure made me feel good………..NOT!

      • Your eyes need to exercise and glasses basically allow them to be lazy. The real problem is reading and working on the computer. We need to remember to stop reading and focus on something far away for at least a minute every fifteen minutes or so. My father’s mother was nearly blind with macular degeneration. It is hereditary but so far I don’t have that problem.

  5. MY mom just had to go to the eye Dr. yet again. She had her annual eye exam last late Dec., but immediately after the covid shot in April, her eyes went out of focus until the next day. Scary. And lately she developed an odd tiny something or other in the line of vision a few days ago. So they took her right away here last week. He said he has had patients with that side effect of out of focus vision for awhile with the shot, and the other thing that just showed up= is just a pain to deal with, and it should fade in time. Good grief! I just wrote a blog!

    • Oh Katie I’m glad your Mom had the “thing” checked out – eyes are so important aren’t they. My Mom has things going on with her eyes too but hopefully nothing that can’t be fixed somehow. She knows she has early cataracts and early glaucoma but that’s important to keep on top of. We must take care of our Moms right? They seem to NOT take very good care of themselves sometimes!!!!!! I hope your Mom’s eyeballs will be JUST FINE.

    • I feel like I give the critters outside a good run for their money – they keep in shape thanks to me chasing them and I might (might) lose an ounce or two chasing them myself. Mom is very happy to have an appointment for her eyes – she knows she needs new glasses but needs to check on progress of her cataracts AND early glaucoma too.

  6. My cats don’t play with “bought” toys except for the feather wand. They play with the cheap catnip mouse from the vet but if I buy one, they won’t touch it. Boxes, twisties and ribbon. Nothing bought.

    • Good for you! I’ve worn glasses since I was a little girl so am used to them……….now I have “old eyes” problems so need to stay on top of that. Probably will eventually need cataract surgery.

    • I try to ignore those squirrels but they TEASE me – waving their tails around and chattering at me…..daring me to climb the tree – they know I’m TOO BIG to do that!

  7. Thank you both for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. We had the same for #1. I called in March and our appointment is next week so you did better than us. I like dried cranberries in chicken and turkey salad and cookies. Teddy, you don’t want to catch them, they could bite you. My niece’s dog longs for a squirrel, but when they hear the door open for her to go out, they run. I try to open it very quietly for her, but no luck. Have a wonderful weekend. XO

    • Squirrels seem to have a second sense about where cats are….plus no matter how fast a cat is, a squirrel seems to be FASTER! LOL Teddy knows he can’t catch one but loves the chase! Good for you getting your eyes checked next week – what would we do without our eyesight?!

    • I think WE have a different idea of what’s fun for them than THEY do! LOL I feel better now that I’ve got an appointment scheduled for my eyes – I think sometimes we forget how important our eyes are!!! 🙂

    • I know I need new glasses so that’s what got me off my rear to make an appointment. Also I was tired of driving to another city for eye checks and needed someone local – took me a while to find someone but I’m hoping it all works out! Our eyes are SO important – I feel bad that I neglected them for so long BUT the pandemic froze me in time and place!

    • They do – our humans see things/toys they think are just adorable and we’d just LOVE LOVE LOVE them, but most of the time we have no clue. HAHAHA I’m interested in stuff I find on the desk or outside like a nice juicy STICK! HAHAHAHA

    • My new eye doctor’s office said they are swamped with people wanting to catch up on eye appointments after being isolated for so long with the pandemic – I kind of think we were lucky to get an appointment in July! Teddy is EXTREMELY picky about toys. But that’s OK – he didn’t really know what toys were when we adopted him. 11 months as a feral I imagine his only “toys” were things he caught to eat!

    • Good question. My Mom says she hopes I wouldn’t bring it to HER…..but if I caught something I probably wouldn’t have any idea what to do with it!!! On the other hand I was a feral kitty for 11 months and maybe I WOULD know what to do with it…… 🙂

    • Yeah my Mom rarely gets a toy for me – she put a bunch of my toys in a big bag in the basement a year ago and left them there – then got them out at Christmas and I loved them all over again. Absence makes the heart grow fonder maybe?????

  11. Mom fell asleep before we got finished commenting yesterday! We LOVE your Fill-Ins! Your Mom’s #3 Dried cranberries are one of Mom’s favorites too! She likes the fresh ones too. We lived right beside the Ocean Spray cranberry fields in Richmond and not only was it terrific to watch tehm grow but to buy the just picked ones at the farm market (and pick some on the Cinnamon walks too!). And our toy box is also a bottomless pit of seldom played with toys! Our Mr Chirpy still languishes in the recesses of the box!

  12. Our toy box has oodles of random things, but Kizmet, being a kitten, likes them all and pulls out tons everyday. The rest of us not so much! Teddy, as much as we know you want to catch one of those cute, little rodents, we sure hope you don’t. • That’s a good way to put it – Mom THINKS I would like this or that and I appreciate that she tries…..but our ideas aren’t always the same – some of us would rather have a piece of string than a $20 cat toy!!

  13. Teddy, you and your mom filled in these fill-ins purrfectly! Your toy box sounds a lot like ours. There are lots of random toys and this and that in there, but that’s what makes it fun. After all, variety is the spice of life, is it not? Purrs!
