Teaser Tell All

Standard

We’re BAAAAACK – with the scoop on the Teaser!

Hi students…….were you thrown off by the different type of Teaser this week?    Well, next week it’s back to “WHERE IS THIS” instead of “WHAT IS THIS AND WHO IS THIS” so back in your comfort zone for sure.

“I just wanna say……Don’t be cruel…..thankew – thankew very mush”

We won’t be cruel like that again I can promise you.

First up though let’s talk about FIRST COMMENTER(S) shall we?     We had THREE yesterday and that didn’t throw the Cheer Team too much of a curve ball – they managed to squeeze out a cheer for them AND for our FIRST RIGHT GUESSER.

FIRST COMMENTERS WERE (drumroll pullleeeeeze)

Sharon, Ingrid, and Timmy

WOO HOO WINNERS!

Your badge – each of you gets one…………..

THREE First Commenters in Teaser class on May 18, 2021 and I was one of them!!!!

Well done Firsties!

I’m so upset I’m going to eat this fake tree!

I was here early but somebody pushed me out of line!

Sorry gang…..we’ll have our Security Team at the front door next week so nobody gets pushed out of line!!!!!

In the meantime let’s talk about the Teaser yesterday…………………….here’s the photo one more time:

Everyone found this to be a totally unattractive sculpture – and your job yesterday was to identify the person who was depicted in this (pardon the expression) WORK OF ART.    Perhaps we can answer that by showing you this photo:

Left: The bronze sculpture of Lucille Ball by Dave Poulin, seen at the Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celoron, N.Y.. in Aug. 2012; Right the bronze sculpture of Lucille Ball by Carolyn D. Palmer, unveiled at the Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celeron, N.Y., on Aug. 6, 2016

Here’s what Time Magazine said about the statues:

A new Lucille Ball statue was unveiled in the late actress’ New York hometown on Saturday, officially replacing the one dubbed “Scary Lucy” that went viral last year after locals claimed it didn’t quite look like her.  Hundreds of fans chanted “Lucy!” as Celoron Mayor Scott Schrecengost and sculptor Carolyn Palmer revealed the replacement life-size statue of the beloved I Love Lucy star during a ceremony on what would have been her 105th birthday, CNN and the Associated Press reported.   Locals had started a Facebook group in the hopes of getting rid of the statue sculpted by Dave Poulin at the time calling it a “nightmare.” The new bronze statue depicts Ball in a polka-dot dress.   “Well, it’s been quite a ride,” Schrecengost said at the ceremony, according to the AP. “A little over a year ago, we got beat up pretty good.”

We thought it would be a lot of fun and it was……….although we had a WINNER fairly quickly – our FIRST RIGHT GUESSER WAS:

KATTY AND THE WEIMS!

BRAVO!!!!!!!!!

AND here is your badge of glory:

I guessed the Teaser photo on the post of May 18, 2021 BEFORE anyone else did! I was FIRST – WOO HOO!

If you also guessed it was Lucille Ball you get one of these badges:

I was RIGHT with my guess on the Teaser of May 18, 2021 BUT I was not FIRST……!!

AND if you were WRONG with your guess – you get a badge too – one of these of your very own:

BOO HOO…..I was WRONG with my guess on the Teaser post of May 18, 2021.

You all get a GREAT BIG HAND – it was a hilarious Teaser and a lot of fun…………………..next week – back to geography test!!     Cheer Team?    What do you have to say to our students today??

I Love Lucy but not that original sculpture
Looking at that was pure unadulterated torture!
We had THREE First Commenters at the start of yesterday’s class
Ingrid, Sharon and Timmy were all three full of sass
Then we waited to see who would recognize Lucille Ball
It was Katty and the Weimaraners who came to call!
That was quite a strange Teaser if you ask us
No wonder Lucy’s adoring fans put up quite a fuss!!

Thanks ladies – you covered that nicely.    Now I think all that’s left us for us to get ourselves to the cafeteria for lunch!!    Come and join us before you head to the pub for the liquid part of your lunch!

Here we are ready to serve your lunch!   Bring your tray up and we’ll fill it with your choices!

Lunch Goodies:

See you students next week for another geography type Teaser!!

  6. We are drowning our sorrows in milkshakes and cupcakes. Our mom was so brain dead yesterday morning, she thought the picnic table area was the Teaser photo. That original Lucy sculpture was horrendous. The new one is perfection. Glad they replaced it. Hugs all around. • Maybe one day we’ll have a “WHERE IS THIS PICNIC AREA LOCATED?” Teaser (just kidding…..) probably would be impossible at best. Anyway, no biggie – next week we’ll go back to the usual kind of Teaser!

    • Glad you made it to class in time for lunch! 🙂 The photo was tough to figure out who the heck it was – if we’d showed the ‘replacement’ sculpture everyone would have recognized Lucy! It was fun – next week we go back to guessing places! Enjoy your snack!

      Hugs, Teddy

  9. Concatulations to the winners! We rousted Mom out of bed at 4 am to log in and you were not up yet, so she let Kozmo out and came back and refreshed there she was LATE! we will have to try again next week. David Poulin’s statue does not look like Ms Ball as we would expect, but it was a private commission and a particular scene from the I Love Lucy show to be recreated. And as an artist, you know that commissions can be difficult. The second is more like we would expect for public art. It was fun to have a statue to find!
