Happy Thursday! Thankful and Poetic Day around here. First up – THANKFULS. Still remaining very thankful that Mom and Dad had both vaccinations and while they’re still masking up and distancing they just plain FEEL more comfortable knowing they are protected. I’m also thankful that my Mom was finally “discharged” formally from oncology services at the Cancer Center. Her oncologist followed her for an EXTRA long time after her recurrent melanoma in 2007 because Mom’s “pattern” had been ten years between bouts. Well Mom passed ten years with no further recurrence by SEVERAL years and never minded the yearly checkups and blood work. It’s now thought she’s “safely” beyond the window of opportunity for a recurrence. Anyway, we’re celebrating that.
The second thing we do on Thursdays is enjoy a poem from Angel Sammy – my brother I never met – as he transmits his poem to me via email from the Bridge and I share it with you. He also sent a photo for NEXT week’s poetic inspiration. Let’s see…………..
♥♥♥
Another Thursday! Let’s Get Poetic!
Hi everybody. Hope you enjoyed coming up with a poem for the photo I gave you to work with this week to share for today’s get-together. You all did a WONDERFUL job last week with your “HOMEGROWN” fruit and vegetable stand poems. All of them were spectacular.
Here’s the photo I gave you last week – AND my poem inspired by it:
“Snow White and The Seven Ducks”
Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell ©April 28, 2021
The leader of this pack is a “tufted” duck
Perhaps her little “hat” brings her lots of luck
Her escorts behind her as she leads the way
On their way to the pond for a swimming day
The third duck in line has a darker beak
The last duck in line looks like a bit of a sneak!
The line moves slowly as the ducks move along
Perhaps they are singing Snow White’s favorite song?
“Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it’s off to the pond we go
They may not be seven dwarfs but they put on quite a show!
Oh I just couldn’t resist – the face they were white ducks and there were a total of EIGHT of them – too tough to pass up a chance for a giggle. I hope you all had fun writing a poem for this photo. So many things came to mind – and honestly until I saw sitting here starting to write this poem this particular idea had NOT come to mind!
Anyway, I have a photo for you to use for NEXT week’s photo poem fun……..ready?
WOW………this should make for some interesting poetry………sure makes an interesting PHOTOGRAPH. Biggest Secretarial Pool in the world??? Have fun with it – I’m sure you will. We’ll meet next week same place and SHARE!
Have a wonderful and safe week…………………..life is short enough – don’t make it shorter by taking chances – get your vaccinations everyone!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!
Love Always, Angel Sammy
♥♥♥
Angel Sammy I loved your poem today. I can’t wait to read what everyone else came up with too! Thank you for making Thursdays so much fun. I’ll see you next week here but in my dreams every single night.

Thanks for the card (says Mom) and we love that first duck – never knew there is a type of duck that has those pompoms!!!!

We loved the poem, Angel Sammy! It’s perfect for the picture. Gosh, I wonder if that is a typing competition going on there. Everyone seems to be waiting to begin. Have a happy day you and mom and dad. And that is the best of news about your mom and being discharged at last by her oncologist. XO

Excellent, Cancer is gone and she is no longer the oncologist’s patient. Triple backflips. The greatest of news.’
That was the best poem I’ve heard since last week. Your mom has a gift cause when the poem is said it is so relaxed and natural and funny that saying it out loud just rolls off my tongue.

I know that feeling as well. MY cancer was from July 2006…and last year I begged to not have to go way up there every year, too. (50 miles or so from here…) So I was released into the care/overseer of my Primary Care MD. At first when they get you to 6 monthly checks and then to a year is a strange feeling, after you have been there so often, kind of like a second home…I still get the 6 monthly blood work checks done…but at least that can be done here in my own town. Then a few days ago, I got a phone call from *them*! What?? Oh yes, it was one of the clinical staff there…she wanted to know how I was doing, since I am still technically on the clinical study I got on all those years ago.
Your duck poetry was so cute and what a spin it took, LOL! I shall be singing that tune on my way to work, later…
Next week’s pic made me think of the time when we were all in a a huge stadium; the venue to write my RN exams…but we didn’t have typewriters, just pencils and then we got huge packets of papers…of the pre-computer days:)
Maybe since it looks like a gymnasium, those people are reporters for some famous speaker?? Nah, they are all the same age sort of…and back then there were not so many ladies doing reporting…maybe the ARE doing some kind of an exam.

So glad you’re in the “so far so good” category with your cancer….I tried to get in a clinical trial after my diagnosis but National Institutes of Health wouldn’t take me because of my heart valve issue. I thought that was my last chance but I found an oncologist who told me about something that MIGHT work and referred me to an oncologist in my town. She was fabulous and encouraged me through all those years. I only did the treatment for a year (which felt like forever) but then it was “fingers crossed it works” and it apparently DID. Lucky – oh YES. That photo for next week IS an exam. A Civil Service Typing Exam back in the 30s! Cool photo though isn’t it. Will be fun to do a poem for that one!

That was a fun poem, it did remind me of Heigh-Ho, it’s to the pond we go. In fact, i started to write that in my poem and decided not to, i don’t want to get in trouble with the lawyers at Disney, haha.
My poem is over here.
