SPARK on Monday

Standard

Happy Monday.   Hope everyone had a great Easter or Passover……………..it’s time for a Monday thought – a little something to get us through another week.  Everyone is invited to participate by posting their OWN thoughts – SPARKS inspire all of us!   “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when her blog was hacked some time ago.  It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it.    Sometimes we need a little “spark” in our lives and these posts were meant to at least be a PART of that effort.    Those of us who enjoyed sharing a SPARK with Annie have continued doing so on Mondays – and we hope one day soon Annie will be back blogging with us again.    Please feel free to post a SPARK of your own and let everyone know you have…….we get energy from each other that way!

I found another little gem…………from one of my favorite Winnie The Pooh characters.    You don’t have to be BIG to be wise.   Piglet knows what he’s talking about!

Those little things that perhaps someone does for you unexpectedly – just a simple thing – small even – but makes your heart just want to burst with “happy”.     A good example is something I can recall from my “babysitting” days.    This was many years ago – I was 12 I think and babysitting two little kids that lived next door to us.   Their Mom had a fast errand to do and I was just watching the 3 year old and the 2 year old was napping.     The three year old came over to me with a HUGE smile on her face holding a dandelion in her little fist – found out she’d picked it for her Mom earlier in the day and it was in a glass of water in the kitchen.    She handed me the dandelion and said “I love you”…….can you imagine how that made me feel?   A half dead little flower but she gave it to me (of course I put it back in the water for her Mom) and said she loved me.    Little thing but HUGE at the time and still HUGE enough that I think about it once in a while.

Bet you can think of things like that if you just think about it!    Piglet knows the best stuff doesn’t he????    Have a great week.

Hugs and Dandelions, Pam

  1. Oh, Pam, what a moment. I guess one of those was mama’s: she had made a risotto and her little grand-daughter, 3, was throwing a tantrum for her mother’s benefit about not eating risotto for dinner (she loved risotto) and mama said, “Ignore her, she’ll wear out” and so they left her alone and a few minutes later, the little one came to the table, sat down, took a bite and with her little finger, pushed it into her cheek and twisted, which means in Italian, DELICIOUS. Mama got teary…..

  3. Very true, Pam – and thanks for the wonderful example. I’m offering a spin on your theme – Doing the little things makes a difference to others. Let’s take going to the grocery store. Take a cart from the parking lot. Smile at fellow shoppers when making eye contact (or in mask era, say something nice). Offer someone with very few items to go ahead of you at checkout. The list of little things in life we can do for others is endless. Have a good week.

  4. My day is sweeter with this blog today. Your experience is the thing that brought me to say that. I love Piglet and what he said is infinitely tru. My life is made of those moments. They are blessings really. Your own story spoke to me, as it were.

    • I’m so happy you enjoyed my little tale……I’ve never told a soul that – not even my Mom. It was just one of those things you keep in your heart and I guess when I was writing SPARKS yesterday I felt like it was the RIGHT time to finally share it!

    • Pooh speaks the truth and let’s face it – it’s tough to find that these days! Piglet is special – I’ve always thought so……..That was something I’ve never told a soul – what possessed me to share it on SPARK who knows….maybe I just NEEDED to.

      Love ya, Pam

  5. Here Here x 87 on that quote and what a beautiful story about the 3 year old.
I tell you when we win the hearts and love of babes and critters…that says a lot about our personalities.
Pam I hope your 2nd vaccine went well.

    • Hi “C”………the shot DID go well and I felt not a thing UNTIL this morning. LOL Sore arm like someone punched me – and a bit achey especially around my knees/joints. BUT that’s pretty much worn off by now. Interesting the kinds of reactions people have from NOTHING to TOTALLY WEIRD! I’m just glad it’s done!!

  6. Great Spark Pam and great remembrance! Dandelions bring me good memories. I was looking at the dandelions in the back yard yesterday. They have just started to bloom and I was transported back to when I was small and lying on the lawn among the dandelions and blowing their heads in the breeze. Thanks YOU and I hope you have a marvellously happy day!

    • I used to love when they went to seed too – those fluffy “adventurers” heading off in the breeze to find a spot in the dirt to call home and perpetuate the yellow flowers in our lawns!!

  7. Mom experienced that Spark today. Our dryer has been out of operation for a few days because the vent was blocked – big fire risk. So Mom has been lugging the towels and other laundry to our human sister’s house to use their dryer. Today she popped a big load of towels in the dryer and planned to go back later to grab the dried load. When she got back, that sweet girl twin grand had folded a ton of towels, underwear, and socks, and had everything neatly packed in the basket. Just a little thing to do (unasked) that really warmed Grandma’s heart.

  8. This was beautiful and immediately made me think of all the special kitties that are now angels and permanently residing in my heart. Loved your sweet memory, Pam. Thank you! Love and hugs, Janet

    • So many Angels we’ve known……..we’re never really “prepared” to have to say goodbye but you’d think with all the losses we’ve had (especially you) it wouldn’t be so devastating every time but it IS and always will be. Little things mean a lot don’t they.
