Huh? What is this contest we speak of? Well for some years now we have been loyal followers of Evil Squirrel’s blog. Always wacky, always fun, and for several years he has had a writing contest he calls the “Contest of Whatever”……….this is the 8th year for said contest and we have participated in and entered several of them. Interested in hearing the background on this contest? CLICK HERE.
The theme is always a challenge…………this year the theme is “X” – yes – that’s the theme – what does that mean? Well I suppose anything you want it to. I thought about this for WEEKS before this morning being struck by an idea – weird indeed but an idea nonetheless. I therefore present my official entry which some of you won’t be surprised to learn is a poem!
“X” Challenge from Evil Squirrel, March, 2021 from Pam at onespoiledcat.wordpress.com
THE EXORCIST
The Exorcist’s job is quite a messy one
Green slime, rotating heads, just plain aren’t fun
Dealing with the devil is not for the faint of heart
Casting evil out of the possessed is quite an art!
Levitating bodies, foul language and smells
Knocking on the doors of the entrance to hell
Over time I should think it takes quite a toll
Most would seek early retirement from this dangerous role
I wonder if the Exorcist after years of his craft
Needs to be exorcized himself so he doesn’t go daft
Being an Exorcist’s Exorcist – now that boggles the mind
I wonder if getting a life insurance carrier is tough to find???
Evil Squirrel – thanks for continuing with this contest every year – it’s always a challenge but always fun.
Oh well done! You are a winner! Is there voting over at the Evil Squirrel nest?

Well now. There’s something I never imagined. Oh no … a blogging contest around X is predictable … but here’s my biggest surprise – Teddy the Levitator. … PS: Creative approach to the contest. Thumbs up, Pam!

Hahahaha! Well done! The photo is a work of art. I’d love to know how the X hit you this morning. I vote for your poem… I can still remember standing in line with SSNS to watch The Exorcist.

I lived in Virginia at the time the movie originally came out – we saw it in Washington, DC though where it was premiering here and immediately following the movie a LOT of people (including us) went over to the exact spot where that scene down the stone steps was filmed in D.C. and just stared down the stairs…..it was eerie…..it was midnight……it was quiet and dark and we all scared ourselves SILLY. Glad you liked my bit of CRAZY for Evil Squirrel’s contest this year. It was all I could come up with – I had recently read they are REMAKING The Exorcist!

Kudos for ‘pawticipainge’ in this contest. The “X” set off all kinds of alarms for me, the kind that said: “nope, nada, not-happening.” Admittedly, I’m a coward but just couldn’t think of anything in the “X” genre to submit. Well done!

I saw here and thought of all the words I could think of with an X (many of which I had alarms about too!) then remembered I’d read recently that “The Exorcist” was being remade this year…….VOILA!

THANKS! It was fun but strangely I put off doing something for this contest even though Evil announced it weeks ago – I guess I just had to THINK about it – it was tempting to make it X-rated though (hahahaha…not!).

Oooh, nice and spooky just in time for Halloween! Oh wait, Halloween can be whenever you want when it comes to the Contest of Whatever! Thank you for a nice poem that made me spit up my pea soup everywhere! This is only the second entry, but they’ve both been poems so far! Perhaps there’s a secret theme to this CoW that even I wasn’t aware of! Good luck!

Pea soup – I could have used some of that in my poem…….(or spewing out of Teddy’s mouth)……….HAHAHAHA

What an Xcellent poem, Pam! I am not sure hat Teddy thinks about levitating though, just as long as his head doesn’t start spinning.

I know – I had though about making his head facing down but it would have scared me to see that. LOL Thanks for the comments though – that contest is always a toughie!

OMCs….I think I might need a double dose of X-traction of squirrels. We have a new one in town who obviously did not get the memo stating all squirrels back away from the yard.
LOL Love the poem
