Friday and time for filling in the blanks with our co-hosts for this fun Hop. Want to join us? Just click the badge above and look for the LINK and join in the fun we have every Friday. This is a great way to tell everyone more about ourselves – how we think – what we’re up to – etc . So let’s go! I let my Mom have a little treat this week since she’s trying to get back to “normal” (whatever that is) after her surgery and I let her do ALLLL the fill-ins. Her words are in GREEN.
1. So far 2021 is great – new President – new hope for the future – brand new right hip!.
2. A book (movie or song) title that best describes my life is “When You Wish Upon A Star” – when I first heard that song as a kid watching Walt Disney Show I decided to start wishing on the brightest star in the sky every night and so many of my wishes have come true…….I’ve been lucky.
3. Having so little snow yet this Winter (although I know that can change!) was a pleasant surprise.
4. I learned that having my hubby do the laundry on his own without supervision is a recipe for disaster. (David had to fill in for a lot of things that I normally do while I spent my first two weeks after hip replacement surgery in bed/off my feet……bless him……he had no idea where anything went, what gets washed with what or even how to use the washer and dryer!!)
About #4 Mom says she is very proud that Dad DID learn about laundry and the appliances in the house and what goes where and when something needs to be done but he also (we think) has a bigger appreciation for all the things that SEEM to happen “seamlessly” around here thanks to Mom!
Everyone have a warm and safe week……………..we’ll be back with more filling in next week.
we hear you for the laundry…boys can wash a car but no shirt LOL and we felt the same about this song… it was the song like life should be… a life were miracles happen every day ;O)

HA! You’re right – cars they can wash but clothes forget about it. I often sing “Wish Upon A Star” when I’m doing housework. Keeps my spirits up!!

Great fill ins!
LOL about the laundry, etc.
Mine did k now that stuff, having been a bachelor for several years before he met me…he still sometimes does hiss own shirts. and pants. He irons them too!!
He can cook, too, but his skills end there cause the messes he makes in cooking are too enormous!
Drives me crazy when I have to clean up after the menfolk here…but then I have to bite my tongue, else they wouldn’t do any of it anymore, LOL!

David had been a bachelor for over 10 years when I met him too but then so much has changed in the intervening 30 years with how to operate ovens, vacuums, washers, etc. He really was clueless. LOL I wonder how much of this past couple of weeks of “training” he will retain though! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The answer is clear! Make some lists for him and let him keep doing it till he gets it right, while you nap. 😀

Great fill ins, Pam. I hear you on #4! I had to write detailed instructions for everything. While I was in hospital the first time I even had to put up a big notice reminding him to take his pills! By the second time he had at least remembered that.

Oh I imagine had I not been at the house all this time there would have been a lot more training to be done than there was this time around! They just don’t realize how “subtly” we manage everything until we’re not there to do it!

Good to hear you’re doing well with your new hip. Mom would nod til her head fell off in agreement with your #4 answer, but dad would beg to differ. He did laundry for eons, but then there’s mom’s way of doing things. Oh sure, left to his own defenses he’d get it done, but if it’s not done mom’s way it’s not done right. I think dad’s learned over nearly 10 years of marriage and almost 15 years together to just let things be as they may.

Some things are worth arguing about but some things are better to “let lie”….MOST things are worked out on their own. It was just funny that some pretty basic stuff was “all news” to my Dad…..HAHA

You are right Teddy. The men in the house have no idea what happens while they are gone or doing other things. A LOT, they find out the hard way if the Lady of the house is under the weather,

I do think a lot of our partners are so used to all the things we do that they really don’t really realize we do SO MUCH – it’s expected or it’s just always there – until it isn’t…..then it’s a big challenge to figure out how to do it. It’s good that David knows though because there are so many things he would have to “figure out” that he now knows all about!

Cheers to the new right hip. Hopefully, you have seen improvement since last Friday! Meanwhile, Hubby’s laundry knowledge will improve. Training, Training, Training … no … make that good training!

Pam my friend Hip Hip Hooray on 2 week anniversary with your new right hip!!
Your # 4 reminded me of something Marlu once said. I had to travel for work once when Marlu was about 6 or 7 (mind you I was a stay at home mom til she was 5). As I was preparing her for my trip she was worried sick about 2 days w/o me and how would they manage.
When I returned home the first thing she said to me was,”guess what Mommy Daddy knows how to pour milk”. And she spilled the beans about Snoppy Hogs for lunch several days. Out of the mouths of babes

Several years ago I fractured my kneecap and couldn’t do the grocery shopping. I would write my husband a list that said milk, bread, etc. thinking that was enough. Although he had been using these things for years, he came home with wrong brands, gigantic sizes that would go bad before we used them and generally not the stuff we need. From then on it was a list with both the brand name and the size and anything else specific like color of label. Took me a long time to write out the list but he did much better after that.

HA! That’s what I had to do after the first shop – I even gave directions as to which shelf and aisle things could be found! He did SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better with specifics!

Isn’t it amazing that males can put together a complete car engine, go to the moon and other surprising achievements but show then a washer and dryer with spelled out instructions for light, medium, heavy, silk, cotton, etc and they are baffled beyond belief!
Here’s to your hip, hip hip hooray again. And soon.

I have been doing laundry for years. My wife used to complain but not anymore. I still wash colors with whites, mostly because the loads would be too small otherwise, but the end result is just fine.

We LOVE the fill-ins! About #4, Mom is ever so happy that our house mate is our human brother. He was taught how to do everything by her and he does do most of them. But he does drag his feet as he knows that “Mom will get tired of waiting and do it”. We are so very happy your Mom is feeling better and the new hip is too! Have a marvellously Happy Day!
