Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Double duty post day……we first are Thankful with Brian then Poetic with Angel Sammy!    Most important of the two is being thankful.    We certainly are too.   Thankful to all be healthy still in these unsettled times and thankful we are together.    We’re thankful that Brian has given everyone a HOP to express how thankful we are too and if you’d like to join – click his badge above and link up with us.

Then there’s the chance to spread our wings and do some poetry with Angel Sammy – he gives us a photo to use as inspiration for a poem – then the following week we share what we’ve written.    So let’s see what he’s sent to us for today?!

Hello Earthly Friends – here we are again sharing poems!

Did you write one for last week’s photo I gave you?     If so, make sure you tell us you did in our comments here.     As long as you are enjoying writing poetry every week to share then we’ll continue providing photographic inspiration!

I know that everyone has more “weighty” things on their mind these days then poetry but it’s also a great stress reliever to stretch your mind and do something different – express yourself with a poem.    I hope you give it a try or if you already do this with us every Thursday – KEEP IT UP!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week to use as inspiration for your poem THIS week……..followed by my poem.

“Jewels of Nature”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©November 4, 2020

Mother Nature reminds us each and every Fall

She knows how to brighten life better than us all

The sun sets and rises and provides the brightest hues

From golden sun and orange leaves to endless sky of blue

Some trees are ancient warriors surviving nature’s wrath

Wind and fires destroy and leave an ashen path

When at last the fires are gone and the seeds have burrowed in

The years will pass, the forests grow and the cycle begins again.

When I chose this photo last week for us to use, I thought two things when I looked deeply at it……..the absolutely beauty of Fall, of leaves of every color shining brightly in the sun but I also was reminded of the horrible fires that ravage these incredible places we enjoy and love and how incredibly sad it is that this happens AT ALL.     The forest has renewed itself almost since time began but can we continue to ask that of it ?

So, here’s the photo that I found for us all to use for next week’s poem – I hope you like it!

I really like this photo a LOT.   It says SO MUCH!    Let’s see if we can put words to those feelings and share them next week shall we?

Meanwhile, please continue to take care of yourselves – stay safe – we are a long way from seeing the end of the pandemic so do NOT let down your guard.    We Rainbow Angels are working as hard as we can to keep you safe but we can’t do it alone!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Light, Angel Sammy

I like your poem today Angel Sammy and I promise to continue to take care of our Mom and Dad…………….I’m doing my very best I promise!

  1. Oh, Teddy, you are a perfect caregiver and and snuggler, I’m sure of that. Tabbies, for mama, are so high on her list of MARVELOUS kitties, since her first kitty was a golden tabby….so long ago. Cross fingers for a bright future for us all, and a vaccine for sure. Make music, laugh alot, and snuggle that Teddy every time you get a chance. We are SO thankful for you and yours and yes, that’s a wonderful photo.
    Here is a haiku:

Leaves like gold coins spent by autumn’s trees form a footpath leading to winter.

    • What a BEAUTIFUL haiku!!!! Truly. I’m glad your Mama enjoyed a tabby in her life but in fact all of us – whatever kind of kitty we are – are special aren’t we Loulou……we try to take care of our humans as best we can with hugs, snuggles, sweet looks, loving meows, and more. Thanks for sharing that gorgeous haiku with us today!

      Love, Teddy ❤

    • Thanks for being a poetic Thursday fan with us – we read your poem and love it as always! The photo for next week is rather special as is the relationship between the two wheelchair-bound friends. There is much to see in this photo and much to write about – will be super to read poems next Thursday we think!!

      Hugs, Pam and Teddy

    • Yes………that’s a perfect example of hope too – we all have lots of things to hope for these days but I’m a major tree hugger too and it’s been so heartbreaking to see the trees and animals who live in and around them suffering and dying and disappearing. Renewal of the forests will be SOOO welcome. Then the cycle will begin again which is SO SAD.

      Hugs, Pam

  2. Excellent poem, Angel Sammy never disappoints. I love fall, it seems to go by quicker than all the other seasons though. Stay safe and have a great day. XO

  3. Sammy, wow … I’m impressed with both your poetry and photography. Someone recently told me that they thought Autumn is the most reliable of the four seasons. What do you think?

Hey Teddy – sorry I missed you yesterday … just one of those days.

    • Not sure about Autumn being the most reliable…..when I was Earthbound we had had Autumns that seemed to last a week; a very brief period of time between blistering hot and hard frost/sleet but we also had Autumns that were slow and extra beautiful as the leaves SLOWLY changed. Very unpredictible and unreliable!! My Mom says Winter in Virginia is most reliable – it will be hot and muggy PERIOD. HAHAHA At the Rainbow Bridge it’s PERFECT every day and I have no complaints!!

      Hugs, Angel Sammy

  4. Your poem is beautiful Angel Sammy. 🤩 We think the photo would make a great wall hanging for the living room. We love fall too. We are having beautiful weather this week, in the 60’s – 70’s.
We’re thankful for the weather NOW. It will soon bring snow I’m told. We’re also glad we are staying healthy. We are taking all the precautions but so many do not around here. The Covid-19 is hitting our rural area hard.
    Have a great day 😻

    • Glad you like the poem! That photo was found by Mom online and Mom said the same thing about it – what a gorgeous photo to make a wall hanging….it actually is (apparently) a screensaver! Same here on the beautiful weather but we’re thinking it just CAN’T last forever……..late Fall and frosts and BRRRRRRRRRR are just around the corner!!! Glad you’re staying healthy – us too – nowhere is truly SAFE unless you do the right thing and many aren’t!

      Hugs, Teddy

    • Hey gang that’s a majorly GREAT poem you wrote – trees are very cool – and they do a whole lot beyond lookin’ good. The mighty redwoods have been around forever but with climate change and stuff we have to wonder just how much longer we can enjoy their awesomeness. We hope FOREVER AND EVER. Thanks for coming by and you should stop in any old time – please stay SAFE.

Love, Ted O Nator and the Mom O Nator

  6. Forest of the Angels

    The forest is aglow
    with all the light
    of heavenly angels…
    we do not have them
    in our sight…
    We feel them
    beside us…
    Yes, our angels there
    Are very bright.

    As we walk through
    and vales of tears,
    We might
    feel fears,
    Angelic wings
    hold us tight,
    To bring us to
    zones of peace…
And comfort in the darkness of night.
