Friendly Fill-Ins

Standard

YAY! Friday’s here! Let’s do some filling in of blanks in sentences shall we? We always learn lots of cool stuff about each other don’t we. Our co-hosts at 15andmeowing and Four-Legged Furballs each provide us with TWO sentences that have blanks and all we do is fill ’em in! EASY PEASY. So let’s get to it – oh – if you wanna play along – just click the badge above then find the place where you can LINK UP!

Here are the four sentences we got for today’s fun.  You know how sometimes I ALLOW (haha) my Mom to do the filling in instead of doing them all by myself?   Well this is one of those weeks – I let Mom fill in ALL of the blanks and her words are in RED.

1. I might not decorate for Halloween this year – trick or treating is “strongly discouraged” in our area!

2. I want to visit Skyline Drive (mountains 30 minutes from here) to have a picnic before fall is over.

3. If my house were haunted, I wouldn’t mind if it was Casper the Friendly Ghost!!!! .

4. Getting cancer  is the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me.

So there you have it – my Mom’s confessions this week with NO help from me!     See?   She can do it if I let her.   Next week I’ll be back at the helm I bet and maybe – just maybe – I’ll share the duty with Mom……two sentences for me and two for her?

Have a super Friday and weekend……………….and THANKS to our co-hosts for another fun Friday.

Happy Friday!  Hugs, Teddy

  1. A picnic in the mountains sounds like a lovely thing to do. Enjoy the weekend!

Our clocks change this weekend, so the evenings will be much darker and it will feel as though winter has arrived.

  2. I love that photo of you Teddy. Thanks to your mom for participating in the fill-ins, great answers-except I am sorry you had cancer. I am glad you are healthy now though. I hope you get to visit Skyline Drive soon. XO

  3. Great Fill-ins! We think #4 had to be super scary and are so happy your Mom is healthy now.
Believe it or not, they are going ahead with Trick or Treat here. Mom is debating whether she will give our treats or not.

    • Yeah I think you can do trick or treat safely but we won’t be answering the door – just have a basket on the front porch with individual packages of goodies for kids to take………..someone else around here is stringing a clothesline across the bottom of their driveway and clothespinning baggies of treats to it for kids to take. It’s not a good year for trick or treating PERIOD!

  4. We did a bit of Skyline Drive when we lived in Virginia. It was beautiful. We didn’t do it during peak colors. I haven’t decorated for Halloween in years and won’t be doing it this year. BUT, I may buy a big pumpkin and put it on the front porch table. I am sorry you had cancer but you are a survivor and I am so very thankful for that. My life has been filled with more joy and happiness with you as a friend. My Mom’s and SSNS cancer diagnoses were the scariest thing that have happened to me. Casper the Ghost would be very interesting to have around the house but I think we have had enough surprises with the Casa… Hahaha!

    • Howdy! I think everyone who lives anywhere near Skyline visits it at least once…..I think right now they may be beyond peak for leaves but we go up there in the dead of winter even when all the water leaching out of the soil freezes and it’s magical. Every season has pluses I guess. We love the lodge outside eating area with that breathtaking view. The view with a car picnic will be nice too since there are a lot of overlooks with great views and so many picnic areas. A couple of years ago we stopped getting “real” pumpkins because the critters would come up at night and eat it. HAHAHA I have a big electric pumpkin I put out there these days. Cancer is in my past and while it helped make me what and who I am today, it’s STAYING in the past. It didn’t and doesn’t define me – it just brought my life into focus. I’m sorry anyone has to carry the burden of cancer EVER and of course that goes for your Mom and SSNS. I think Casper would be fun…………..maybe. LOL

      • I don’t think we could do a real pumpkin now that you mention the critters. We have a bunch of critters and we have someBODY digging under a bush in the front. We have two otters that play in the drain going into the preserve between our house and Ken’s. I have tried to get a photo but they are very shy.

        • Otters? Oh I just love them….I might not love them if they were destructive but they are just so darn adorable to watch when they play. I think the chipmunks here do most of the digging – they do have elaborate underground tunnels and Ted has found most of the “doors” and will park his big butt there and wait……….so far they have outsmarted him!

  5. Mom hates Halloween. Except for dressing me up in ridiculous costumes every year, she would let it pass unnoticed. At our apartment complex they are not allowing trick or treating this year, even though the governor says it’s OK.

  6. I had to look up Skyline Drive and it looks like a beautiful place to visit. It is a little over four hours from our new home in WV so it might be worth the trip some day, especially since my wife will be going to Lynchburg occasionally.

    • Skyline Drive is definitely worth a 4 hour drive. There are cabins up there, a lodge with a motel, two restaurants and endless overlook spots and picnic areas. It is gorgeous during every season. We were up there last winter when all the spots where water comes out of the woods freezes so there are millions of frozen “mini-waterfalls” along the road. It’s really one of my favorite places to be. Hope all is going well on your plans for the move!!

  7. Teddy, your mom did a great job on the fill-ins, even without your help. But we must address that photo of you. Just unbelievably adorable. You certainly have made yourself comfy! You look as if you are just waiting to be waited on and hand fed. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

    • HA! That’s the way to go……..back in my younger days a bunch of us would ride up to Skyline on motorcycles and have a big picnic in a clearing up there – talk about FABULOUS – great memories. It would also be wonderful in a convertible of course………!

    • Skyline is an amazingly gorgeous place……….there’s a lodge up there which has outdoor dining so if we don’t take a picnic maybe we’ll eat there. I love taking a picnic basket though and there are lots of overlooks, picnic areas, etc.

  8. Great fill ins today. We hope you get to enjoy your drive. It looks beautiful. It’s been cold here and there are was a warning for blizzard coming this weekend. Filled up the pantry today.

  9. We’re hoping there are no trick-or-treaters this year. It will be safer if people stay home especially given the increased numbers of cases in our area. Glad you were able to get out for a picnic before autumn turns into winter. 🍁

  10. Oh man, I remember Daddy and me in the old Ford driving from down from up in Yankee territory as he drove back home to Roanoke. And Skyline Drive was usually reached late late at night. Daddy knew of a spring there along side the road and unerringly found it even at night. He’d wake me up as I lay asleep in the back seat- so I could drink spring water. Once, when we got to Roanoke (home) we discovered my shoes were left there at the spring since they fell out as I got out of the car.

    • You know that spring has been there for YEARS and YEARS and we used to stop there to fill up jugs of water to take to our cabin (in my other life!) for our weekend trips up there. They closed that spring down a few years ago…..not entirely sure why but maybe it became polluted or caused a bad traffic jam. Anyway, Skyline is a wonderful spot and we are only about a half hour away……….LOVE IT!

    • The newspaper here gave a few suggestions for die-hard trick or treaters and those providing treats. NOT handing out anything……put treats in individual bags and leave a big basket/cooler full of bags on your porch OR at the bottom of your driveway so kids can take their own. Some have said they will string a line across the bottom of their driveway and hang bags of treats by clothespins so kids can take one (assuming someone doesn’t just take ALL of them!). Anyway, I guess some “sporadic” treating will be done around here.
