Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Woo Hoo!   Thursday already – time for us to be thankful “out loud” and also time to see what Angel Sammy has sent us for his Thursday Poetic Thursday post.    If you’d like to join in Brian’s Thankful Hop – click his badge above and link up.

Our thankfulness continues with Mom and Dad still feeling fine.    They are grateful that they ARE fine considering how widespread and “growing” the pandemic is.    Mom and Dad are doing all the right things though so hopefully they will stay safe until the day finally arrives that we are FREE of the worry.

We’re thankful as always too that Angel Sammy – who we know keeps an eye on us and always will – has sent us his weekly email containing his latest poem and a new photo for all of us to write a poem for NEXT week!!

♥♥♥

“Happy Poetic Thursday!”

Here we are on another Thursday to talk poetry.    I hope you aren’t tired of the whole exercise of writing a poem a week based on a photo………I think it’s fun myself to have a “theme” for writing a poem.    I’ll continue doing it as long as some of you play along and enjoy writing a poem.    I love reading your poems!

Here’s the photo I gave you LAST Thursday to use for THIS Thursday’s poem…………with my poem following:

“Tempting Treats”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell        ©September 30, 2020

Oh my goodness an endless array of tempting treats

Who wouldn’t want to raid the shelves for something yummy to eat!

Chocolate, fruit, icing, filling and more

I wish my house was right next door!

Who could look at this display and not start to pant?

I can resist most temptations but this one I sure can’t!

Alright – confession time – I allowed my Mom to “influence” this poem as she has a very difficult time walking by something like dessert tray in a restaurant or a bakery without letting her eyes take in every little details and morsel…………and while MOST of the time she does “just walk on by” she sometimes allows herself a sinful little treasure to take home and enjoy.   Does she share with Dad?   Nope!    HAHAHA

Now – did you write a poem?   If you did, let us know – this was a fun one to put words to so I hope you wrote something even if it’s short and SWEET (haha) like mine is!

Here’s your photo inspiration for NEXT Thursday’s poem…………hope you will join in the fun even if you haven’t ever written a poem before!

Yes indeed – it happens – all the time too.   Pups and cats getting along famously.     But there’s a lot of messages in a photo like this and it’s our job as poets to interpret the messages in poetic form – give it a whirl !!!

Until next Thursday when we share poems again – stay positive – stay healthy – and stay STRONG…………………

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love from Angel Sammy at the Rainbow Bridge

Thanks Angel Sammy……..I like that poem and I am SURE that if I had a chance to meet a puppy up close we could be BEST BUDDIES!

Hugs to everyone, Teddy

    • My Mom definitely as a weakness for delicious desserts BUT she rarely makes them at home – since she and Dad aren’t going out to eat she hasn’t had a sinful dessert since their “Anniversary Getaway” a few weeks ago. She’s suffering from dessert withdrawal!

  1. Well, the “cropper” doesn’t seem to want to crop my photo so I just let it put whatever it sees in the Hop! We are all thankful that positive messages keep us from going bananas in this very strange political time. And we are thankful we can VOTE to end this madness, hope, hope, hope.

  2. Boy, mom tries not to even LOOK at the desserts now. But on her birthday, she had a BIG piece of N.Y. cheesecake. It came with some caramel sauce. I am not a fan of adulterating cheesecake with anything, so I left THAT luscious topping in it’s cup. But OH! It was one of the largest servings of cheesecake I have every had! As large as a standard piece of birthday cake. It was high too…not a inch and a half or so- as you sometimes see. I have been dieting since May, and so I split it with my teacher son who came to see me for my birthday. OH…heavenly. Worth the calories.
    Happy Thursday!

    • I love good cheesecake too but I can’t eat much – it’s SOOOOO filling. I like it with fruit rather than toppings (with the exception of chocolate – I’ll eat that on anything….well….almost!)

  3. Well done Angel Sammy and Mom what a ‘sweet’ photo. Sometimes I think my middle name should be Chocolate…as always a great photo this week and OMCs next week. I must try to write about my 3 Nephews

    • Hi Timmy! I don’t get down here very often anymore. I’m sure your own Angels have told you how busy we are there – trying to keep all of you safe and healthy and trying to find homes for homeless animals and SO many other things. I thought we’d all just lie around on soft clouds and nap up here but it’s busy – but a very GOOD kind of busy. Doing good things for man and beast! Glad you liked my poem this week. You take care of your family dear boy. I miss you……

  4. Good Morning 🌞 We’re always thankful you’re here with a poem. Unfortunately this week our son and DIL contracted COVID-19. DIL is asymptomatic but our son is sick 🤒 We haven’t seen them since August so we weren’t ever exposed. But now I have to worry about him. They probably caught it at church.

  6. Cute poem, Angel Sammy. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but one thing I can’t resist is a Victoria sponge cake with fresh cream filling! Oh, and chocolate!
Next week’s photo is very sweet.

  7. Mom wishes she could just eat dessert and forget the rest. Funny thing is, she didn’t even like sweets when she was younger. She did write a poem. Here is the link: https://thecatonmyhead.com/a-delicious-display-thankfuls/
Next week’s photo is so precious. Mom is looking forward to writing that poem. Love and hugs to all. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

    • We agree about next week’s photo – AND my Mom wasn’t used to desserts growing up because her Dad didn’t like sweets so her Mom never made them. It was a BIG HUGE TREAT to get something for dessert and once a month when her Mom would take her and her brother to the base commissary they’d have a treat at the cafeteria and she ALWAYS got a slice of “chocolate pie”. But she didn’t even know about other desserts!

  8. Staying healthy during the virus days can be tough. I am glad your Mom and Dad have done just that! We have had some oopsies but we are trying. We are on our last countdown. Love the sweet treats poem. Looks like Croissant and Co,. I can pass on the sweets but can’t pass on any kind of tater or pasta dish!

    • I adore potatoes too but pastries “do me in” every time. Not so much with cakes but almost every other kind of dessert I get swoony over. Funny but I rarely order dessert or make dessert but I do appreciate tasty treats like that once in a great while. We all have our vices huh? TEE HEE
