Thankful and Poetic Thursday

HERE WE ARE!  Better late than never!    Mom accidentally published our Friday Friendly Fill-Ins THIS MORNING instead of Thankful/Poetic Thursday.    OOPS…………anyway, let’s get going on our THURSDAY post.    First off, thanks to Brian for hosting this fun HOP – if you want to join us – just click the badge above and link up.

We are thankful that even though Mom makes the occasional “whoopseeeeee” she really is fine and so is my Dad.   We are pretty isolated up here on our hill and don’t go anywhere unless we HAVE to.    Our property is big enough that all of us have room to roam and enjoy the great outdoors together.    Mostly being healthy is our BIGGEST thankful.

We got Angel Sammy’s Poetic Thursday post too………….here it is!

Hello from the Rainbow Bridge!!

Always good to spend time with my friends who are earthbound – sharing some fun poetry every week.    It’s fun to use a photograph as our inspiration and it gives our poetry some focus that we can share.   One photo – lots of different ideas in our poems.

I hope you will join in if you haven’t before and if you DO join us every week – KEEP IT UP!

Here’s the photo we all used for our poems today:

“Fearsome”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©September 24, 2020

In days of old when pirates plundered

The skies went dark and rumbled with thunder

The mission was clear – conquer the foe

Cannonballs flew as the ships moved slow

Destruction on the seas was the goal of the crew

The coffers of treasure below grew and grew

The Captain of the ship was a task master so cruel

But those who were loyal got double servings of gruel!

Lives were lost, ships were sunk, and destruction ruled the sea

Walking the plank was the fate of many despite their pitiful pleas

Fearsome pirates came and went until the seas were quiet

But stories will forever be told of the cruel and fearsome pirate.

Many movies have been made and stories told of the life of the pirate – sometimes they were depicted as comical characters which they certainly weren’t!    They destroyed, pillaged and plundered their way into tales of daring and danger which entertained humans for decades.    But they did exist and still do in some areas of the world.    All for one and one for all still is practiced believe it or not!

Here at One Spoiled Cat we are ALL FOR ONE and ONE FOR ALL – especially on poetry day!    We hope you have written a poem for this pirate photo and will share it with us – let us know in comments so we can visit your blog and read it!

Ready for next week’s photo?  You have a whole week to write a poem to go with this photo to share next Thursday.    Enjoy the challenge!

Oh boy.   My Mom would sure like to be at this place – just look at all those delicious goodies!    Should make for a DELICIOUS pile of poems next week right?    Let’s hope so – I’ll be here with my poem and hope to see you all here!

Meanwhile, please stay safe – and HAPPY.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

With Love From The Bridge, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy!   I like your poem for this pirate – we had such fun in the blogosphere on Meow Like A Pirate Day!     Mom still has photos of you in pirate gear from Cat Scouts and the blog for Pirate Day celebrations.    Wonderful memories.

Hugs, Teddy

  1. You had me confused this morning! I was sure it was Thursday because it is the day my groceries are delivered. Your mom is right, every day is Blursday now.
That pirate looks very fearsome and I wouldn’t have liked living in those times. The Westcountry was well known for pirates with one even being called Avery born only a few miles from us. I wonder if Ivor is a relative???
