Friendly Fill-Ins

Standard

Happy Friday!   Time to fill in the blanks with our co-hosts Four-Legged Furballs and 15andMeowing.     You may click the badge above to link up with Four-Legged Furballs if you’ d like to fill some blanks in yourself!

Here are the four sentences we got from our co-hosts for this week.     Mom and I sort of shared the fill-in duties this week.   If I answered it’s BLUE if she provided the word it’s RED!

1. To have an extra helping of something or not to be a pig? Is a questions I ask myself.    (There are a FEW things I find it hard not to have seconds of – potato salad is one of them!)
2. I wish Mom and Dad would let me stay outside longer.
3. I’m on the fence about eating inside a restaurant – we haven’t even gone to a restaurant that serves OUTSIDE since the start of the pandemic.
4.  If you don’t ask, you won’t ever know the answer!.

There you have it – another stirring fill-in session.   Mom and I are a good team.     Hope you all have a grand Friday……………..and weekend to come.

    • We haven’t even gone through a drive-in! Even though I want to stay as safe as possible I told David we need to head to the mountains for a picnic or something…..next week we celebrate our 30th anniversary and are breaking our OWN rules and staying one night in a very beautiful Inn not far from our home – they are taking all steps for safety there.

  1. It’s a potato salad kinda weekend! We have eaten inside a restaurant twice. Same restaurant and we feel safe there. We have done drive-thru and take-home… so far so good. We haven’t eaten anywhere downtown on the island. Too many people. Venice now has a mask mandate but we don’t feel safe… TOO MANY PEOPLE! The cases for our county have fallen dramatically but that will change after Labor Day weekend. I have been more worried about all the worker dudes! I am sure all will be fine for your 30th Anniversary!

    • Teddy I am going to do my Fill-Ins here this week, okays?
      1. To grill or not to grill? ALL Labor Day weekend is a question I ask myself.
      2. I wish SSNS would make potato salad. Pretty sure I will get my wish if I help.
      3. I’m on the fence about the Prolia shot for osteoporosis. I have had 1.
      4. If you don’t practice mindfulness, you won’t find peace in your life.

      • Love your #4……I see the commercials for Prolia – maybe since you’ve only had one you don’t really know yet if it works or doesn’t work? I hope it works!!!!! I bet if you did the potato whacking up SSNS would do the rest! I bet!

    • We hope so – the Inn is on 38 acres and very spread out – our room is in the Inn itself with dining room downstairs. They are doing all the right things there and it’s lots of fresh air and peace and quiet – a good way to spend our anniversary!

  2. It’s hard to not make a pig of oneself when there’s good food on the table or in your case, bowl. I don’t like being outdoors too long in the summer. I’m surprised one who wears a fur coat would enjoy being outside during the warmer months. I think…I know I would rather to stay inside where it’s cooler. We haven’t eaten inside a restaurant or gotten take out since the Pandemic, either. DH has vacation time to use so in October we’ll do things around town and in our area but haven’t decided yet about restaurants. We might get some to-go orders for home which is always fun but if that doesn’t work then I’ll fix up some fun meals for us to enjoy while we binge watch movies or TV series. The last fill-in is totally accurate about asking. Y’all have a good day. Stay safe and be well. Have a funtastic weekend!

    • I really don’t enjoy eating in the heat…..OR in the sun. I like comfort when I eat and GENERALLY that’s inside. If it’s nice and I can be in the shade then I love being at a picnic table, etc. We just haven’t gone to any of the restaurants in town that have outdoor eating now. I love to cook so that’s probably the REAL reason!!!!

  3. Mom has eaten in a restaurant once this week. She felt pretty safe. That’s it though.
Teddy, I know that you would love being outside for hours…BUT your mom and dad have to be there too to keep you safe from harm. They have other things they have to do as well and they are grateful that you understand. Tell your Mom that well made tater salad is like ambrosia to my mommy! So are raw veggies and dill dip. XO

    • Yep – Mom just finished making ‘tater salad for dinner tonight – she’s making chicken BBQ sammmmmiches. I bet she offers me some chicken but I just NEVER EVER eat people stuff. I’m weird.

  4. I love your number 4, Teddy. You certainly are a wise kitty! 😉 And I agree with your mom’s #1. Btw, my wife would agree to that about 200%! 😀
Have a wonderful weekend, and stay healthy,

P.S.: we haven’t been to any restaurant – inside or outside – either. But we got ourselves a wonderful anniversary dinner from our favourite restaurant here in Fritztown https://wp.me/p4uPk8-2HK%5B%5D. It was so easy: order and pay online, and get outside of the restaurant 15 minutes later.

    • We have done that once during this period of time – on Mother’s Day we ordered and did a pickup of a SUPER meal. It’s good to think outside the box (and eat outside the box) if you can.

  5. You always do great with the fill-ins. We bet as this summer heat starts to die away, your folks will allow you more outside time, Teddy. It is almost impossible not to have seconds of a favorite food, unless you are a cat and you have to depend on the humans for your food. Sending hugs all around, Janet

  6. Thank you both for your fantastic fill-ins! I relate to your #1 so much. I love food, potato salad included. Teddy, we hope you get lots and lots and lots of time outside! Purrs!

    • The outdoor dining here is actually very WELL thought out – probably 15 feet between tables – they’ve blocked off side streets in our town (which is small) to traffic and that’s where tables are. It’s quiet, it’s in the shade and we have some good restaurants here….we’ve just not DONE IT. Hard to think differently than “stay home – stay safe”!

    • We have some outdoor restaurants in town now but we’ve not been – we’re talking about doing it though – the tables are VERY well spaced and it’s totally out in the open – they close off the downtown streets to cars on Friday and Saturday night too.

  7. Teddy, we like to stay outside a lot too, but not when it is HOT. Once fall arrives, we just love to sit outside in the grass.

Mom and Dad aren’t doing any restaurants either, inside, outside, or takeout. We are all hoping for things to get a lot better soon.

    • Oh Fall is going to be soooooooooooo nice. I think once it cools off my Mom and Dad will be happier when they take me out in the yard. I don’t mind the heat even with my fur coat on but they seem to WILT!

  8. I am afraid to do take out too except I do buy cooked food from the convience store I work at. No one has been sick at my store. And also at the Walmart Deli my son works at. Guess I feel safer cause I know what is happening there. Another nice day. Rain coming Sunday and next week. Enjoy your afternoon/evening.

  9. We haven’t been to a restaurant or a takeaway since the pandemic started either. I don’t feel confident about it yet. We have been out a few times, but always to somewhere quiet and take our own picnic with us.
We are thinking about having a few days away in October for our anniversary but it will have to be self catering. We will take our own food. I will probably cook extra in the weeks beforehand and freeze it so I don’t spend too much time cooking while we are there.
Of course we will also take our antiviral sprays and wipes too and give everything a good going over on arrival.

    • We have a little bag with all our anti-viral equipment and even though the Inn says they will have disinfected and prepped our room top to bottom we’ll do it too. They have outdoor dining……we plan to try and walk around the property because they have beautiful spots on the 38 acres. Hoping the weather cooperates – next few days here are to be gorgeous but there’s a slight chance of rain on Wednesday when we arrive at the Inn – it’s only about 40 minutes from here but a WORLD AWAY when it comes to facilities. I hope you and Ivor do get away next month for a break for your anniversary – they should be celebrated in some special way.

  10. Hi Guys! Great Answers! And Mom and Alex has been to 2 local restaurants. Both places they ate outside – one was on a deck right over the Kettle River and the other was a great patio.
    Wes send loads of Purrs!

  11. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. For #1 , I am that way with smart food, but the answer is always be a pig 🙂 These are scary times- better to use caution. Have a nice weekend. Xo

  12. Fun Fill-Ins, you two. Mom is also on the fence about indoor dining. It just started yesterday, so she will stay outdoors as long as possible (sometimes I get to go along) and then MAYBE be ready to try it. She hasn’t even been in a store, yet…. #notready

    • My Mom has been doing online shopping and hasn’t been in a store except the grocery store. Couldn’t get on a schedule with the local grocery stores unfortunately for home delivery or curbside pickup. BUT she goes at the crack of dawn and is usually the first and only shopper. Indoor eating is – well – not on the table (haha).

    • I know Teddy would be outside ALL the time – while we don’t know what his first 11 months was like before we adopted him at the shelter, we really think he was feral or a barn cat used to being outside. He loves it. We just can’t let him to his own devices out there. He has MOSTLY accepted that fact! MOSTLY!
