Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Hello Thursday!    Here we are – gathered together to remember what we’re thankful for.    I continue to be thankful we are healthy here – Mom and Dad are in that “danger zone” age-wise but have been so good about where they go and how they go that so far – so good.    I’m always good – except the past two days when it’s been too hot outside (heat index 108-109) I have only asked to go outside for SHORT periods of time.   Mom and Dad are happy about that since they go with me.    Even in the shade it was just too much – yesterday I asked to come back in after 15 minutes and Mom said “THANK YOU TEDDY!” when I asked for her to come inside with me.

Angel Sammy is keeping cool at the Bridge and no problem sending me his weekly email containing his poem for this week.    Shall we take a peek?

Hi friends………… we are again.   Thursday and poetry to be shared!     I hope you wrote one this week- if you did, let us know so we can read it!   We want to see how you did coming up with something for the photo prompt last week.

Here’s what I did!

“No Teeth?  No Problem!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©July 22, 2020

Watermelon is so very refreshing and cool

Best part is that eating it requires no “tools”!

The pulp and juice just require your mouth

While it drips onto your shirt and heads south!

Such concentration this little guy shows as he gets all sticky

But nothing tastes better on a day that’s hot and icky!

Haha – this little kid really has his work cut out for him – but he looks up for it.   What kid doesn’t enjoy a slice of cold watermelon in the summertime?    I thought just about everyone would have an easy time coming up with a poem long or short (and mine is unusually short!) for this photo.    I hope you will feel that way about the photo I found for NEXT Thursday!

uhoh – this one will be fun won’t it?!?!?!

I guess that wraps things up in the poetry department for another week.    If you haven’t participated in poetry challenge – you should.   I know you can do it – and it’s really fun.  You have lots of poetry forms you can use including non-rhyming AND short haiku.     I’ll see you next week to see what you come up with for the photo.

Meanwhile please stay safe………………….we are watching out for you as much as we can.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

  Love and Hugs, Angel Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy……………I promise to take good care of Mom and Dad with your help……………………..see you  next week!

Happy Thursday Poets!    Hugs, Teddy

  1. Oh that took me back. Both pictures. Loved Angel Sammy’s poem. I always do. And that one by the road side..that could be me standing there seeing the change of tire, including the form of dress. XO Happened once upon a time.

    • Glad you liked Sammy’s poem – we’ve been doing a lot of nostalgic photos but they seem to be fun for EVERYONE – not just people who remember but people who enjoy seeing the past!

      Happy Thursday!
      Hugs, Teddy

  2. That was such a cute photo to inspire us this week!! Great poem as always, Angel Sammy. And I LOVE the photo for next week! It reminds me of the photos I have of my older sisters, who were teenagers in the 50’s. I’ll probably start on that poem right away! Thanks, Pam, Angel Sammy and Teddy. Stay safe and cool!

    • That little kid sure is enjoying what probably is his first “go” at watermelon. I loved it when I first saw it – that’s what happens when I’m looking – I’ll see THE ONE and stop looking after that. Glad you like next week’s too…..I wasn’t a teen in the 50s but I DO remember the prom and knowing girls whose boyfriends had flat tires on the way to and from the prom. Thanks for being part of our poetic Thursday fun!

      Hugs, Pam

  3. That is a fun poem from Angel Sammy. We have been enjoying watermelon daily. Next week’s photo will be fun too. Thank you to your mom for always finding us great inspiration. Have a wonderful day! XO

    • I had no idea Wabbits could write poetry! I guess they kind of made it clear that they have no intention of giving up eating their way through everyone’s garden huh? Well, I know how frustrating that must be – Mom won’t let me chase those things either!

Stay safe and well…….we send you “air hugs” from Virginia
Love, Ted O Nator and Mom

  7. That was such a fun photo, and you turned it into a fun poem. We bet that little boy has lots of chuckles now that he is older and looks back at that memory:)

  8. That was a sweet poem from you, Angel Sammy.
I hope the weather soon cools down for you Teddy. It is cool and showery here, about 62- 63F.

  9. Meowza! It’s been in the mid 80’s here in our neck of the woods and The Female Human is griping and hissing about how hot it is! She’d never make it at your house.,
    Purrs & Head Bonks,

  10. Great poem Angel Sammy! We love watermelon and no teeth needed indeed.

We hope the weather cools down and we’re glad your parents are staying healthy and not getting a yucky virus.

  11. Teething hurts
    Watermelon cools!

That next picture reminds me of one of our first outings as an engaged couple…we went to a concert and when we got out, in the dark…the truck had a flat tire…oops. Fun to change a tire when you have good clothes on…and it happened another time on the highway when the whole family was coming back from church…all in Sunday best of course, MOL, MOL!!

  12. Teddy, we are so glad you’re all still remaining safe and healthy. We do hope it cools down for you, though, so that you can go back to having enjoyable strolls outside. Angel Sammy, this is a purrfect poem for a scrumptious fruit! And the newest prompt is equally fun and immediately brought an idea to my mind. Purrs!

    • Mom has let me go outside with her SUPER EARLY in the morning these days – it’s nice and cool so I can get my exploring done before it feels like we’re walking on the Sun! Angel Sammy sure gets good photos doesn’t he?

      Hugs, Teddy
