SPARK on Monday

Standard

Happy Monday!   Let’s share some SPARKS.  What exactly IS this Monday SPARK thing we do?   Well, most of you know that Annie of McGuffy’s Reader – who started SPARKS – was hacked and has been on an extended break from blogging although her idea to spread some inspiration on Monday of every week goes on.   Many of us who participated in her SPARKS Blog Hop and found value in sharing a thought on Monday continue doing that to hopefully give each other a “Monday boost” – perhaps something to think about to inspire us in the week ahead OR help us deal with something that’s on our mind.    Why not join us by sharing something that SPARKS you?   It might just start a spark in us too.

Have been thinking a lot about the changes that we are living through due to the virus and all the various parts of our lives that are effected by it.    If you THINK about it, it’s wide ranging and touches us in all sorts of ways.     We need to learn to be flexible about the future I think……….don’t you?

There will be a whole lot of things that we can’t change even if we really want to…………..we do have some control though – it’s recognizing the things that we CAN’T effect vs. the things we CAN.    No sense bashing your head against a wall that isn’t going anywhere……………I feel like this is one of those moments in time where we must go along with what we’re told for everyone’s sake.   I have heard from many people that they “hate” the way things have changed but change is sometimes NECESSARY.

I wish everyone a good Monday AND rest of the week too!    Don’t resist change – if you can’t do anything to make things different then give up and don’t let yourself go nuts trying to FIX something that’s unfixable.

Hugs, Pam

(don’t forget tomorrow is Teaser Tuesday!)

  1. Yup, a good FU, or the other fun word that we hear petcrtary mumbloing sometimes…if you can’t beat em, then join em!

    Same at work, we cannot change who the residents are, let alone what they are doing, we can only sigh and then just try to carry on. No sense arguing to try and reason with them either…we can’t do anything else but try to adapt to them…

    We can change!
    Like when in a marriage, the wife cannot change what her hubby does, but She can change to accept what is and then carry on, in peace, cause that keeps arguing out.

  2. Oops! My error! Your spark reminded me of the serenity prayer:
    God grant me the serenity
    to accept the things I cannot change;
    courage to change the things I can;
    and wisdom to know the difference.

  3. That applies to many many things that our minds go back to over and over, through time trying to wish away something or somehow change the outcome.

    • I think as others have said, this SPARK makes perfect sense but it’s not that easy to let things go – I think our nature is to want things to be the way we WANT them to be. Recognizing we can’t change EVERYTHING to make it right for us is tough…..but we CAN do it. It’s just not all that simple to do because humans want to have things JUST RIGHT – and the world just doesn’t operate like that (unfortunately!). 🙂

  4. It is easy to wish our life away….I wish, my hair was fuller, my skin was bump free, my legs could carry me further….You get the idea. Things are what they are…..so we must learn to deal with what we have. What we have makes us unique….there’s no one else like us out there. Grin and get on with the important things in life.

  5. “Purrfect” SPARK Pam!! I REALLY needed to read this today…For the past few weeks I;ve been trying to change certain situations & things…I now realize I can ONLY change how I react to the situations & things. And I totally realize I cna;t change anyoen else’s behaviours. I can change my response (or lack thereof tho’!!)
    Thank you again!

    • IT sure is “freeing” once we recognize and practice this – we will never be able to change everything around us especially people but we sure can change (and are in total control of) how we deal with them!

  6. Mom is always telling Dad that very thing. If it is out of your control, then there is no point in worrying about it. Have a great week.
