Thankful and Poetic Thursday

It’s Thursday again – seems like just yesterday we had one of those doesn’t it?   Thursdays are coming around quickly these days but then most days are a blur.    I know we will all be glad when the virus is not “driving” our schedules and feelings.     I will be MORE than thankful for that when it happens.     Meanwhile I’m staying very thankful for the fact my Mom and Dad are healthy and doing all the things they need to do to STAY that way.

I got Angel Sammy’s post in time to share with you – those of you who are fans of poetry hopefully enjoy spending some time on Thursdays sharing your poems and reading other poetry from other friends – we sure do!    Here’s Sammy’s poem AND a new photo for inspiration for NEXT Thursday when we meet again!

Hello from the Bridge poetry fans!

Here we are again on a Thursday – I hope you’ve written a poem inspired by the photo I gave you last week……………it’s a sweet photo really – a little plant taken root in a crack – surviving in what might not be the best of places!      Here’s the photo followed by my poem to go with the image:

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©July 1, 2020

A tiny plant thrives in an unlikely place

Yet I see happiness in his upturned face

Fern like foliage and blossom of yellow

I see great persistence in the stem of this fellow!

The dirt under the pavement is enough to survive

As long as nothing crushes it, it might stay alive

It’s surroundings most certainly are quite crude

But you’ve got to admit – it’s got GREAT attitude !

That little flower sure has a lot of challenges ahead………..but don’t we all?    We get through a lot in life if we just BELIEVE WE CAN.

So did you write a poem this week?   If you did please let us know in the comments – you can give us your link or even write your poem in the comment box!     Share – let us know you had fun with this photo inspiration.    I enjoy finding photo inspiration for all of us – and I do hope you enjoy giving writing poetry a try.    Here’s the photo for NEXT Thursday:

Beautiful colors…………………almost magical………….what does this photo make you think of?    How does it make you feel and what do YOU see in it?    Share all of that with us NEXT week when we get together again!!

Until then – keep safe – take care of yourselves…………………………..and be KIND to one another……………….please.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love forever, Angel Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy………………I sure did like your poem this week.    Reminds me to STAY STRONG and keep watching out for Mom and Dad to make sure they stay STRONG like that little yellow flower!

Hugs to everyone, Teddy

    • I think that little flower wouldn’t have minded going to a good cause like cheering up a Mom! I hope it didn’t get crushed too…..but even if it did, it still had a successful “life” – sprouting in a “desert” of pavement and flowering…….that’s a huge accomplishment!!

      Hugs, Pam

  1. Oh Angel Sammy, I recall a man who worked in the next building who was slated for serious surgery. He used to come out and look at a flower blooming in a crack, just like this one. I used to take my breaks outside and he did too. But just to see that plant He told me once the he saw it as an inspiration. He got thru his heart surgery. But he did cling to that little flower like this one. XOX

    • It is very inspiring – in a cold and not very welcoming world this little seed took hold and “made it”… about meeting a challenge…..I hope it was able to go to seed at some point and spread some more of that “determination” – the world needs more of that!

  2. That’s a terrific Angels Sammy poem and darn good thankfuls too Teddy. We’re ready for that crazy virus to get the heck outta town. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  7. Love your poem and pretty photo to go with it. Another hot and humid one here till next week so far. I am so tired of this weather. Give me 60’s any day. Have a great afternoon.

  8. Lovely poem for the little flower. I often get a flower or too flowering in odd places, usually cracks in the concrete. Ivor says they look untidy but I tell him to let them be. They made the effort to grow so deserve to survive and I water them when I water the other flowers.

    • I do that too – we had two dicentra pop up WELL away from the garden where they are – down in the woods in front in fact. They really popped in the otherwise dismal looking landscape – HOPE…..SURVIVAL…..big messages for today!

      Hugs, Pam

  9. The days all seem the same here. Mom and Dad keep wondering where June went:)

We hope you keep all your poems, you need to put a book together. Your poems are always so good, just like this one.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

    • So happy to hear that you liked the poem today – we REALLY read a lot of amazing poems for this little simple photo……people all have the right idea – survival under less than perfect conditions – GREAT MESSAGE!

      Hugs, Teddy and Pam

  10. That was a beautiful poem. Everyone needs hope. I wrote a poem, but not sure if you saw it as my notices seemed to stop sending. Hope you had a great day. XO

    • No – I didn’t get a notice but I SHOULD have remembered to stop by anyway! I’m on my way now to read your poem!! UPDATE: Love the poem and I hope that Cadillac is delivered to your house ASAP! HAHA

      Love, Pam

  11. Teddy, we’re so glad you and your mom and dad are staying safe and healthy, but we also hope this all ends soon so that life can back to some semblance of normal. Won’t that be nice when it happens? And Angel Sammy, this image and your poem are beautiful. They’re also, as your poem says, filled with a sense of hope! The new prompt is lovely, and it immediately brought an idea to my mind. Purrs!

    • I think everyone is ready for some uplifting news about the virus…..sadly we in the US seems to be going BACKWARDS instead of FORWARD……it’s our own fault. Glad you like the photo Angel Sammy chose for next week – we think it’s absolutely gorgeous!!!! Keep on HOPING…………

      Hugs, Teddy
