Happy Thursday……….well, I hope it’s a happy one anyway. I know right now a lot of us are worried and wondering what will be next in this world that has changed significantly for us in the last few weeks but I believe like many people that there is a light at the end of this tunnel. We just need to follow the guidance, stay safe, try to stay healthy, and hope for the best. Hope. Got it? Good! As for being THANKFUL, we are thankful at my house that right now we’re all healthy. We’re following guidelines and Mom and Dad are only leaving the house for ESSENTIAL purposes. I’m leaving the house just about whenever I want to because my Mom and Dad are taking me outside so ALL of us can get some fresh air from time to time! Please everyone, follow the instructions we’re being given because if we do, we’ll get rid of this awful illness FASTER and hopefully FOREVER.
Now – what else am I thankful for? I’m thankful that from his cloud at the Rainbow Bridge, Angel Sammy sent me his weekly poem…………and his invitation for you to join him in writing a poem every week based on the photos he gives you for inspiration. Here’s this week’s email/poem:
♥♥♥
Poetry Time!
It’s Thursday again and time for us to share poetry. You know the deal – I give you a photo one week and the next week you share with us the poem you wrote based on the photo. Easy right? Well, it really is easy because writing a poem is NOT hard to do. Give it a try – you’ll see what I mean. A lot of you have humans who are having to stay home because of the virus and work restrictions so tell them to consider writing a poem as something NEW to do.
Here’s the photo from last week and my poem to go with it – if you wrote one, let us know in comments and give us your link – we’ll visit!!
“Best Buddies”
Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell ©March 25, 2020
Nothing’s as precious as having a best friend
The one you can trust until the bitter end
When everyone else lets one of us down
We can count on each other to stick around!
Down life’s road we’ll travel together
Sunshine, wind, or stormy weather
Brothers and pals we’ll always be
‘Til death do us part and our souls fly free………
We all need a best friend…………my best friends when I was alive were my Mom and Dad. The odd stray cat would come in and out of our lives through the 17 years I was alive, and I always made friends with them, but I have to say I kind of wished that I’d had a playmate when I was growing up. Mom would have happily adopted TWO kitties back when my parents got me from the shelter but Dad said “only one”. I didn’t mind being the “only”…….but it might have been fun to have someone to chase, sleep with, get into trouble with (!), and get comfort from. Don’t get me wrong – my Mom and Dad were the BEST and I loved them fiercely like they loved me……but a kitty buddy would have been different. Anyway, when my Dad recently lost his twin brother it got me to thinking how wonderful it would have been to grow up with another cat in the house like my Dad and his brother grew up together and stayed each others’ best buddy for 75 years and that’s where I got the idea for my poem this week.
Would you like to see next week’s photo?
You have a whole week to come up with a poem to go with this photo. Can you do it? You certainly can! We’ll share poems next week OK? Meanwhile, please do your best to stay healthy and even though it’s tough times for some of you right now – do what’s best for you AND those around you. Sometimes a smile is the very best medicine.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!
Love, Angel Sammy
♥♥♥
Thank you Angel Sammy…………..know what? I wish we’d had some time together too before you left for the Bridge…………..and I think Mom and Dad would have enjoyed the two of us playing together and having fun. Sending you hugs Angel brother………………….
Hugs, Teddy

True friends are far more precious than gold or fine gemstones…and somehow they are rather about as rare…so when you have one you for sure are very blessed.
That sure looks like a sad little house….wonder what kinds of memories it holds behind that door?

You’re right – friends are most valuable – they keep our hearts and lives happy and when things are “not right” they are the light in our lives…………..Stay safe!

Everyone needs a best friend. I found mine when we were 5 years old at primary school. We stayed friends over the years, through her 3 marriages, moving away and returning to Plymouth, keeping in touch by letter, then phone and later email if we couldn’t see each other. She died last May from metastatic cancer one week before her birthday. We had been friends for 63 years.
I am sorry, Angel Sammy, I didn’t mean this to be such a depressing comment but it just brought everything back to me.

I absolutely DO like your poem dear Binky – I think we all have people or friends waiting for us on the other side of this life. I know Angel Sammy will be there for me and I know you will have a host of family and friends waiting for you too. But we ALL shouldn’t be in a big hurry to leave – our lives now are happy and our “forever family and friends” will truly ALWAYS be there waiting. For now – let’s enjoy what we have here and now.
Love and big Hugs,
Teddy

We thought along the same lines as Angel Sammy for today’s poem. LOVE the photo for next week; reminds me of my grandmother’s little country store that I visited everyday during my childhood. That will be a fun poem to write! Here’s the link to my poem on my blog today: https://thesedaysofmine.com/2020/03/26/poetic-thursday-friends/

We just love your poem! It’s exactly what we “saw” when we found that photo – there’s something special happening in that photo just like when we meet someone we CLICK WITH, we feel like these two little boys do. HEAVY hearts weigh less when the burden is shared with a true friend.

Good morning Darling Sammy and Teddy and Mom and Friends. Friendship means so much to mom; I know for sure. She has at least one such friend who is like family and means the world. And probably another as well. I too wish I had a sibling. I get all the attention yes, but if I had a brother or sister we would BOTH get all the attention. She was doubtful about doing that, because her Admiral had just passed away after a very difficult time. If Admiral hadn’t led her straight to me and then me showing that I was to be hers, she would not have adopted anyone for fear of more heartache.

That’s EXACTLY what my Mom went through after Angel Sammy – she and Dad didn’t know what to do until Sammy led them back to the shelter where he was from to find me waiting for them. I guess I’ll always wonder what it would have been like to have a buddy and pal but then I’ve been so lucky to have ANYONE take care of me, I should just be happy with that right Katie? Friendship is super important – and I think blogging brings many more friends than some people might have otherwise. There’s a special closeness to being far apart (I know that makes no sense but it does to my MOM!). We are lucky aren’t we Katie………..

Teddy and Sammy, you always make my day with your positive attitude during these hard days. Sammy, I have been thinking just the same thoughts as you being the only cat, it is great, but I like other cats too.
Many hugs,

Well Kosmo I suppose as “onlies” we should be happy that all the toys, treats, snacks, and LOVE are ours alone and we don’t have to share with another kitty but I think it would be fun to have another kitty to play with and maybe nap with. Sharing would be hard to get used to though!!!!
Hugs to you,
Teddy

Right Teddy! I have that neighbor’s cat visiting, but she just eats and sleeps. She doesn’t know how to play, if have tried many times. So I just stay near her.

Angel Sammy misses Scouts I know….but he’s pretty busy at the Bridge – he teaches classes to the new Angels and helps those getting ready to go back for another life (we have nine of those after all!) to adjust back to life with humans rather than life with angels. He does miss everyone a LOT though. Just like we miss him.

Sammy, your poem is total perfection, and we know it truly represents how your dad and his brother felt about each other. We know you and Teddy would have been besties. Sometimes one or more of us wishes we were just one instead of many, but it is comforting to have a best pal. Our mom is so happy to have your mom as her friend! Our mom wrote a poem very similar to yours. https://thecatonmyhead.com/friends-are-precious/

Beautiful poem, Angel Teddy. It brought back many memories to Mom about the good times she had with her big brother, who sadly left us at the very young age of 27. Ah, those memories were so good.

I think up at the Rainbow Bridge where there is no virus, no emergencies, no scary stuff, no bad weather, it’s easier to write poetry than down here! 🙂 Sorry about Rose’s foot – hopefully she didn’t break a bone? Maybe heat or cold or elevating the foot???

We have been icing it, wrapping it, elevating it. I keep hoping a good nights sleep will help but not so far. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. On a side note, I went to the Chiropractor today and they were taking everyone’s temperature as they came in.

YES – they did that at the hospital when we were there last week with my husband having an outpatient test. Hand sanitizer and temp before you even went in the building AND I couldn’t go in with him – I had to stay outside on a bench – NO VISITORS.
