Happy Poetic Thursday !
Another week passes by and it’s time for us already to get together and share some poetic fun. Writing poetry doesn’t have to be a “chore” – it should be tons of fun because you can write whatever you FEEL – my photos that I give you are just meant to inspire you a little – give you something to study and find some words to express what the photo is “telling you”. Tons of fun and if you’ve never done it, let this be your first time. I’ll give you a photo a little later that you can use for NEXT Thursday’s get-together OK?
Here’s the photo from LAST Thursday along with my poem to share with you all:
“Attic Treasure”
Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell ©March 4, 2020
In my attic resides a slice of my life
Memories have homes there along with the mice!
I’ve saved things that reminded me of some part of my past
Seeing them from time to time allows memories to last
When I’m up in the attic I cry – laugh – and smile
I slip into the past where I stay for a while
Important reminders of times long gone by
So many years I have lived – in the blink of an eye
When I want to remember how lucky I’ve been
I just go to the attic, sit down, and remember when…………..
I guess you can tell that this was more written for my Mom than it was written for me. For one thing, I would never have gone up into the attic at my house – you had to get there by ladder and ladders were NOT my thing! In fact, my parents have an unfinished attic whereas the attic in the photo is very “homey” and has a FLOOR………….I would have enjoyed that attic I think. My Mom has a large box of treasures from her past though and once in a while she’ll get it down from the closet in her office and go through them with a box of kleenex at the ready. A box full of memories……………..
So would you like to see what photo we’ll write about for next Thursday’s get-together?????
That ought to get your imaginations going! We’ll see how we all did NEXT Thursday. Thanks for participating in my Poetic Thursdays. If you wrote a poem for this past week you’d like to share with us, tell us in comments and give us your link. If you didn’t write one maybe the photo above will inspire you to write one to share NEXT week??

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!
I’m Proud of all of you Poets out there…………and of my little brother Teddy who turned FOUR yesterday!
Love, Angel Sammy

A most excellent poem Angel Sammy! Too HOT up in the attic here. We have never had an attic that was accessible. As a kid our houses had attics but I wouldn’t go up in them. My Mom had Christmas stuff stored up there, I remember that! Good Morning!

Yes – always Christmas stuff in the attic…..! Mom says she remembers some very HOT attics and in fact the attic in this house gets VERY hot. No stairs up to our attic here though so I can’t go play up there!!

when I was 9 and 10, we lived in an apartment for awhile. The attic belonged to the owners. I didn’t know all that, and I used to love going up there and looking at all the things there.

There are always neat things in an attic…..they all have a certain “aroma” too…..old musty things in beat up boxes but so much fun to poke around in!!

We have never had a ‘usable’ attic, not my parents…but pawppy’s did, and it was like that too, filled with many treasures.
There is even an armchair there, Teddy, did you see it! Just the right kind for an hour or two of reminiscing:)
Now that next picture…a door to a secret treasure trove, no doubt!
Glad you had a super Birthday!

My Mom says she doesn’t remember any house they lived in with an attic either……..my Dad lived in a very old house in Washington, DC and it had an “off limits” attic. I think this particular attic in the photo looks like the kind of attic that’s PERFECT – nice place to have peace and quiet and look at all the memories!

Same here………….my Mom loved seeing that photo and all the things that were THERE that she had in her life all these years. Still has some of them – old records for instance. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing – the more years you have behind you the more memories you have and the more “stuff” in your attic!

That was a nice poem from Sammy. The attic can hold lots of treasures. Unless you’re like our mom and have a garage sale and sell them all! MOL!

Well, when you move or have a “clear out” a lot of the old stuff doesn’t make the cut to STAY…..letting go of things is part of moving on but SOME things just belong in an attic forever!

That was a wonderful poem – and you’re right – what happens when that attic no longer is in an OCCUPIED home? We’ll have to pack it all up and move the memories somewhere else for safekeeping I guess – can’t EVER let go of those for sure! Well done…………..
