Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Thankful Thursday is a hop hosted by our friend Brian – we get together and tell everyone what we’ve been thankful for in the past week or so since we last got together.    This week I want to thank my Mom and Dad for helping me to take care of the little “outside kitty” who seems to have adopted our front porch and in particular our heated cat house at night.     In the morning I let Mom know he’s here (Dad named him Timothy) and ready for breakfast.    I can see him asleep inside the heated house and when he hears me at the window by the door he comes out, stretches, and thanks my Mom who hands him a big bowl of food to eat.   I’ve mentioned we call the house out there “Teddy’s B&B” and Timothy is my regular occupant.    Well, we are just happy to offer him a warm bed and a meal when he needs it and while I’ve been THANKFUL for that before, I’m THANKFUL for that again today!

Also I’m thankful that Angel Sammy sent me his poem based on the photo he gave everyone last Thursday.    I’m anxious to see what he wrote – are you?

♥♥♥

Hello Poetic Friends!   Let’s share!!

Did you write a poem for last week’s photo?   I did…………..and if you didn’t do one this week – I’ll be giving you another photo in a little while for you to use as inspiration for next Thursday so why not join us?

Here’s the poem I gave you last week…………………..AND my poem follows:

“Tripping The Light Fantastic”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell        ©February 26, 2020

Put on those dancing shoes

Let’s dance away the blues!

Jitterburg, tango or samba

Or we’ll join a line in a conga!

It’s my excuse to get up close

Cheek to cheek and toes to toes

But my favorite dance to do

Is up close, cheek to cheek with you!

A shorter than usual poem………………..but my Mom and Dad were talking last week about how much dancing has evolved………..Mom remembers when her older sister taught her how to Jitterbug to Elvis records.    Mom also remembers the first time her Dad tried to teach her how to “slow dance”……..and how she never QUITE got the hang of letting the guy lead!    She danced with my Dad at their wedding and didn’t trip him AND she danced with her Dad too and didn’t trip him so I guess she finally got the hang of it.

Did you write a poem?  Good – let us know in comments and give us your link OR write your poem IN the comments – we can read it there too!    I’ve also found a great photo for all of us to use for NEXT week’s poetry get-together…………..here it is:

Oh my……….attics full of forgotten treasures………………there HAVE to be some good poems for this one right?

You have a whole week to come up with one to share with us next Thursday……………..are you up for the challenge?     I know you are!     GO FOR IT!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love Forever and Ever, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Angel Sammy you are my favorite poet…………of course you’re my big brother too so maybe I’m a little biased??????    Anyway, I’ll look forward to seeing you next week……….and always.

Love, Teddy

    • I think I can still remember how to do the jitterbug but wouldn’t dare try or I might pull a muscle. HAHAHAHA Isn’t that attic photo cool? I’d love to rummage around there and I bet there will be some great poems next week!

    • Loved your poem today – and in fact if you visit the others who did one you’ll see a lot of wonderful poetry for those two dancers……next week’s will be so much fun – everyone is thinking that so we will have a good “crop” of poetry again. Thanks for being part of our weekly FUN!

      Hugs, Teddy and Mom too

      • Oh good – glad you found it and all is well. I have no idea what goes on in “cyberspace” but lots of people say they did NOT change their blogs but their blogs changed themselves so either they are HAUNTED or POSSESSED by gremlins OR somehow these programs have a mind of their own once in a while!!! 🙂

  1. Teddy well done on the poem…it was such a delightful photo from Angel Sammy too.
I also recall trying to learn not to lead in slow dancing. Aunty Carol was a great teacher to your Mom.
Oh boy is next week’s photo gonna be a fun time

  2. Sammy, you did wonderfully well with your poem dear boy. And mommy and I are so proud of your B&B, Teddy! Timmy is a lucky boy. So glad he saw your neon sign blinking in the night once upon a time and stopped by.

    • We’re happy to help – my B&B has served the wandering community well through the years even before I arrived on the scene. I think before me, it was called “Sammy’s Snooze-atorium” !!!

    • Mom told Dad that she thinks the kitty should have a name since he’s a frequent flyer. Dad said he liked the name “Timothy” for him so that’s it. We may have to change it to “Timorella” if HE is a SHE but we’ll worry about that if and when we find that out! HAHAHAHAHA

  3. We love that your B&B has a regular visitor. Timothy knows quality accommodations!

Great poem. Mom remembers learning to dance in school but she hasn’t danced in years since Dad wasn’t much of a dancer.

    • My Dad isn’t a dancer either…..he did manage to squeeze in a dance for their wedding but it was more of a “shuffle” than a dance (which actually was better for my Mom who has THREE left feet!!!!!).

    • Our basement is the “catch all” here…..and I’d describe it as “orderly chaos” because at least I keep neat PILES of stuff. HAHAHAHAHA Clutter advice column? Not a bad idea!

    • Mom hasn’t tried to “check him out” yet in the altering department – she said to Dad for all she knows he’s a she. HAHAHA Either way we’re happy to help Timothy (or maybe Timarella…haha).

  4. That is so kind of you to take care of the outside kitty. I feel bad for him and hope he has a family. Great poem, as always. Next week’s looks fun- I want to explore that attic. Have a nice day! XO

    • We hope Timothy has a family too. Since we only see him in the dark we think he must have either someone else who lets him in the house or a family and just comes by here because he WANTS to!

  5. Good Morning ☀️ Another great poem to enjoy. I loved dancing but don’t have that swing anymore. Like hearing how Timothy is doing. Our Rafter is good too. I haven’t seen him yet.

  6. Timothy is so lucky to have you all to take care of him. Maybe Mom Pam could get a photo to share with all of us. Our Mom agrees, cheek to cheek is the best kind of dancing. She did write a poem, and this is the link: https://thecatonmyhead.com/dream-of-dancing/
Next week’s photo looks like fun! XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

    • My Mom will try to get a photo of Timothy. Generally we only see him in the dark at 4AM on the front porch but Mom says she doesn’t think her flashy would bother Timothy – he’s just HUNGRY and only cares about food not flashies! We’ll give it a whirl. Your poem was FABULOUS……….we knew there would be some good poems this week and expect next week to be a banner week too with the attic!

  7. That was a great poem, Angel Sammy, but your poems are always great, they’re full of inspiration, so I can see the dancers moving while reading😸 Granny is the dancer in this family, she likes all kind of dances, but she prefurrs the Cha Cha Cha and Jive from the ballroom stuff. Me and my Grandpaw only watch…MOL…We’re Thankful that you take care of Timothy, he must feel so at home with you, Teddy and I’m sure Angel Sammy is watching over him too. Pawkisses for a Happy Thursday to all of you🐾😽💞 https://angelswhisper2011.com/2020/02/27/a-poetic-thankful-thursday-5/

    • My Mom loves to WATCH dancing more than she likes to do dancing. Her Mom made her take tap dancing as a kid and she did like that – you could just dance like you feel and have fun instead of doing certain poses or movements. Mom is more “free form” than “do it this way”. Anyway, I’m glad your Granny enjoys letting loose with dancing – everyone needs SOMETHING like that in their lives right Binky?
