Hello Fans of Bacon! Welcome to the King of Bacon’s kitchen! It’s time to MAKE SOMETHING!
Yes we gather in my kitchen here at Castle Baconia on Saturdays to allow me to share a recipe with you that has our beloved BACON in it. It can be anything – a dessert, a main course, a veg, a treat, a snack………as long as it has BACON!
This is a yummy Southern recipe and if you like cabbage, you’ll like this one……………..if you don’t like cabbage then sorry about that but cabbage is delish AND good for you! Try it!
Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion and Garlic
Ingredients
- 6 slices bacon, chopped (or more bacon of course….!!)
- 1 large onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large head cabbage, cored and sliced
- 1 tablespoon salt, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon paprika
Directions
- Place the bacon in a large stockpot and cook over medium-high heat until crispy, about 10 minutes. Add the onion and garlic; cook and stir until the onion caramelizes; about 10 minutes. Immediately stir in the cabbage and continue to cook and stir another 10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes more.
MMMMMM…..good!
I haven’t done a vegetable dish in like FOREVER with bacon so thought I’d switch things up a bit this Saturday. I hope you approve………………………remember like all recipes you can add or subtract ingredients – as long as you don’t leave out the BACON!
Enjoy this recipe – it’s dy-no-mite
Happy Saturday – King Teddy
I’ll have the bacon and my bipeds can have the cabbage! 😀

I do like cabbage, but that recipe is not going to be the same without bacon! Another one for me to drool over and think what I am missing.
The bacon was piled high at the breakfast buffet in the hotel, but every morning I walked past and stuck with cheese and mushroom omelettes or smoked salmon and avocado on a bagel. They were delicious alternatives though!

Those were delicious alternatives but it had to be hard to walk by that bacon! The cabbage really is good without bacon but better with of course……SORRY! 😦

Mmmmm…. I make this often (minus the garlic). Motor Man doesn’t care for it, but I do! My mother boiled cabbage, but fried is so much better.

Well garlic is really good for you – my Dad especially loves it……Mom not so much….but it’s good in this recipe with the bacon and everything………..

I like cabbage but it doesn’t like me! I think using pasta would work! Just add some butter and olive oil and you have a great excuse to eat BACON! Some tomatoes, too??? Now I have completely wrecked your recipe, Teddy! Sorry!!!
LikeLike
No you haven’t wrecked the recipe – you made a “sister” recipe to ours and your version sounds REALLY good! Go for it……….let us know how it turns out!

I love cabbage-as long as it is cooked, I don’t like coleslaw. This looks great. Thanks for the recipe. Have a great day! XO

It’s really delicious especially adding the bacon………we have cabbage frequently too but usually it’s just steamed and buttered – this is an interesting and delicious alternative! 🙂

My Mom made this (minus the bacon sadly) with noodles for a meatless Friday meal during lent. It’s better with bacon but isn’t everything?
LikeLike
True……bacon is like the icing on the cake (or the cherry on top of the sundae!!).

Good Morning ☀️ Another recipe to try. We had your roasted vegetables last night and it was so good. We have a new great granddaughter. She was born yesterday. We went to the hospital last night and held her. So cute and tiny but almost 8 lbs. Have a great day.

We already made cabbage with bacon, and it’s de-li-cious ! We don’t use onion or garlic powder, only cloves and “real” onions. Purrs

Oh yes! Stir fried in a wok is PERFECT…….my Mom does the same only in the fry pan and says it’s way way better than the old boiling thing!
