Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Here we go again – it’s THURSDAY and time for us to share our Thankfuls on Brian’s Hop (click above to visit and link up) AND then we’ll share some poetry that we wrote this past week based on Angel Sammy’s photo that he provided for our inspiration!

Thankful this past week for the fact that even though we got snow – 2 or 3 inches of it – Mom and Dad did NOT have to go anywhere so we all stayed home together and had a big fire in the fireplace and just relaxed instead of trying to get out and about.    Not many people did since they closed school and local businesses here.    I kept Mom and Dad company as much as I could between my OWN naps.    It was just nice family time.    I’m always thankful for that!

Now we’ll share the email we got from Angel Sammy with his poem AND another photo for NEXT week!

♥♥♥

Hi Friends!  It’s me – from the Bridge!

Here we are on another Thursday sharing poetry.    Last week’s photo that I gave to you seemed to stir a lot of emotion in everyone – that guy climbing up that girder in the stratosphere (!) gave everyone a case of the dizzies but let’s see how it did to inspire some poetry shall we?

Those of you who are new to Poetic Thursday need to know that we get together and share a poem based on a photo I’ve given you for inspiration – we have a whole week to write a poem then we share them and get a NEW photo from ME for the following Thursday.   Yep – a whole week to write something.   I think I give very reasonable deadlines unlike some editors do!  HAHAHA

So, here’s the photo from last week that I gave you followed by MY poem – if you wrote one let us know you did in our comments (or you can write the poem IN comments!) and tell us the link where we can read your poetry.

“Only Birds”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©January 9, 2020

Up in the clouds high above the city

Falling from up there would NOT be pretty

Only birds should be up that high

Or satellites or planes in the sky

Imagine being up there doing some work

Hopefully good life insurance is one of his perks!

I know some people like to live on the edge

But don’t ask ME to go out on a ledge.

It’s not that I’m afraid of heights

Up in a high rise wouldn’t give me “the frights”

But hanging on a girder while working away

Would certainly cause me to pray, pray, pray!!

That photo kind of makes my Mom dizzy just looking at it……………I hear ya Mom………….when I was a little kitten I  know you and Dad remember that I was outside with you and a big dog came running into our back yard and chased me up a tree – I went WAY UP the tree and you tried to talk me into coming down while Dad put the big dog in our garage long enough to come out, get a ladder and climb up to SAVE ME!   He tucked me in his jacket and came down.    That was my last “UP IN THE SKY” adventure.    Teddy likes climbing up to the top of his cat tree but that’s not really HIGH.    I think it’s best that we kitties and pups stay “ground-bound” !!!

How about next week’s photo?    We will have a week to write a poem using this one then meet next Thursday to see how we did……….ready?

The little boy seems to totally not recognize who that little baby with the grownup haircut is in the mirror – or maybe it’s his first mirror experience PERIOD???    Anyway, I love this photo – let’s see what we can all do with it shall we!

Hope you have started your 2020 off with a bang.   Things are popping here at the Rainbow Bridge……………..we still have time to keep a close eye on all of you down there though……..you are missed…………….

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

I’ll look forward to seeing you here next week!!!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

Thanks for visiting Angel Sammy……I miss you too!   Love, Teddy

Before we go today we want to say we lost a sweet and dear friend yesterday – Prancie – beloved kitty at 15andMeowing who had serious health issues, decided yesterday was her day to make the journey to the Rainbow Bridge.   Her Mom and Dad are very sad of course and won’t be blogging for a few days but you could visit and leave words of support if you want to HERE.   Safe journey Prancie – you spent your life with great love and left it with great love.

  2. Sammy, Mom would be categorically unable to do that thing of being in the air as that man is. All the fall protection in the world would not convince me to do that. Teddy, I swear, every time I see you in the picture with your little orange bow tie…I just swoon! XXOO Katie Isabella

    • Crazy photo wasn’t it? Imagine having a job like that – obviously this guy is used to it and we know he’s got a safety harness on but still – WOW. Yes, Prancie is an Angel and will certainly be watching over her family forever – it’s just so tough since they recently lost another kitty and have another one who is critically ill too.

    • Hello Miss Pix!! I’m sure Angel Sammy gave Angel Prancie a big welcome hug and party when she arrived to distract her a little from missing her Mom and Dad and siblings. Prancie left in love just as she lived in love.

  4. Angel Sammy it is always fun to see you visiting with your fun poem. We like climbing but that is a bit too much for us. It sure is nice to have a warm home isnt it.
We will visit our friends and give our condolences. We loved Prancie too

  5. Angel Sammy, your poem stands alone! It is a very scary picture and we don’t want to be anywhere near that high. Shoko says she only gets as high as the fence and there is no way she’ll be up mingling with folk on top of buildings.

  6. Sorry about Pracie. Sending prayers for her family. Love your poem. That photo makes me dizzy. And I want to know how they got that baby to sit there in the next photo. LOL. Have a great evening.

  7. My grandma is afraid of heights, but she likes holiday decorating so much that she’s willing to climb up a ladder to hang a wreath.

Prancie’s family must be so-very heartbroken. Hugs and purrs of sympathy for them.

    • Heights are dangerous – my Mom has said as she’s gotten older she gets dizzy easier….so I keep an extra close eye on her! Miss Ellen and Mr. David are very sad about losing their Prancie but they know she’s an Angel now and will watch over them from the Bridge always and forever.

  8. We liked your poem, but that photo makes Mom very dizzy too:) As for the next photo, she remembers her own Mom telling how mad her husband (Mom’s Dad) was when she cut all the curls off their two year old son:) At least she brought the curls home in an envelope.

  9. Any bird can go there and I will not try to chase it at all!

I feel queasy just thinking about that high up dangerous job. Is he working on a bridge?? Shudder…only the few and the brave to steal a motto:)

My brother had a session with a barber when he was a wee bit less than two…he told the barber…don’t cut my ears off! MOL!

That sure is a cute vintage photo.

    • I think that photo shows a guy working on a high rise building – something to do with cable installation – He’s 45 years old and obviously has no problem with SUPER HEIGHTS…..unlike me………!! Cute story about your brother and the barber. The photos we found when looking were SO CUTE.

  10. Our purrs, thoughts, and prayers are with Ellen after the loss of her sweet Prancie. Angel Sammy, we know you’re looking after her at the Rainbow Bridge now.

Teddy, spending the day by the fireplace with your mom and dad sounds like purrfection! How warm and cozy that must have been. Angel Sammy, your poem fits this image so well. This here human would be absolutely petrified to be at such a height. Yikes! And next week’s image will be so fun to work with, as always! Purrs!

  11. That was a fabulous poem. Our mom DOES NOT like heights; though, she’d like to take a hot air balloon ride. Mom is mad, as she forgot to mention in our thankfuls that she was one of four first commenters along with Mom Sharon. She let Stinky write our poem this week. Here’s the link. https://www.thecatonmyhead.com/Stinkys-solo-adventure-thankfuls/.
