SPARK on Monday and a Reminder

It’s Monday again!    Time to SPARK your week ahead with a thought…………… What exactly IS this Monday SPARK thing we do?   Well, most of you know that Annie of McGuffy’s Reader – who started SPARKS – was hacked and has been on an extended break from blogging although her idea to spread some inspiration on Monday of every week goes on.   Many of us who participated in her SPARKS Blog Hop and found value in sharing a thought on Monday continue doing that to hopefully give each other a “Monday boost” – perhaps something to think about to inspire us in the week ahead OR help us deal with something that’s on our mind.    Why not join us by sharing something that SPARKS you?   It might just start a spark in us too.

It’s Thanksgiving week and I guess we all focus on what we’re thankful for…………I talk about that all the time – and let people know when it’s THEM who have caused me to be thankful so today’s SPARK for me is just a little different…………it’s something I saw that struck me as SO TRUE but I’d never really thought about.    I hear other people say “I wish I could be just like so and so” or “I wish I could be more like her” but know what?   We need to be OURSELVES – our genuine – imperfect selves!    Why?

YES – we are what we are and who we are………..and that really is GENUINE.    We really shouldn’t try to be LIKE someone else………..we are what we are.    Did it take me over 70 years to realize this?   Maybe………….although I had it staring me in the face more than once in my life.  Now though is when I BELIEVE IT.    And I will be ME until the end.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving if you celebrate it – and if you don’t have a wonderful week anyway!

Love, Pam

Professor Teddy asked me to remind those of you who are Tuesday Teaser class fans that class is in session tomorrow at a surprise time so be purrrpared!

Sunday Selfie Blog Hop

Hello Sunday and Hello Visitors to my blog!    Today is Selfie Hop day with The Cat On My Head and YOU can join in if you’d like – it’s easy – just click their badge above and LINK UP on the LINKY form.

Mom caught me napping on the guest room bed – AGAIN…………seems that’s where I spend most of my snooze time so naturally she captures me there trying to mind my own business, peacefully and quietly until I hear that FLASHIE THING she calls a camera.    I will admit it was only a temporary interruption though  because I am the KING OF NAPS (although my Dad seems to think HE is!) and a brief interruption doesn’t bother me at all.   I immediately went right back to sleep.    No problem.

Then of course she proceeded to “ARTIFY” me with Lunapic – one of their “new” art filters called VanVogh5 – which resulted in this:

And may I just say that I totally approve of this filter – it makes me look quite dreamy and orangey and cuddly and oh so much like a wonderful watercolor painting!   Then Mom did her usual PUZZLE thing for those of you who like to do puzzles……………

Click this MINI-ME photo and you can agonize over the jigsaw puzzle……..Have Fun!

Happy Sunday From Big Orange (aka Teddy)

Bakin’ With Bacon And The King!

Happy Almost Thanksgiving!

Hello everybody!   Welcome to the Kitchen at Castle Baconia where your King of Bacon (yours truly) whips up some kind of bacon delight every Saturday for your EATING pleasure!    Today I’m doing a wonderful and tasty Thanksgiving-ish cheeseball for a GREAT appetizer when you have your Thanksgiving meal this coming week.    This has so many great ingredients in it you just can’t go wrong.   In my case, my Mom – oops – I mean The Royal Mom – says this cheeseball has a lot of her favorite things all together; bacon, cranberries (she uses “Craisins”) and almonds.    Ready?

Cranberry-Almond-Bacon Cheeseball

  • 8 oz. cream cheese softened
  • 8 oz. white cheddar (or feta, goat cheese or gorgonzola – just a nice white cheese)
  • 1/2 c. bacon cooked and crumbled (yep as usual you can use more bacon if you like)
  • 1/2 c. dried cranberries (Craisins work great!)
  • 1 Tbsp. cilantro finely chopped  (as far as I’m concerned this is optional!)
  • 1 tsp. worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 c. almonds chopped

  • Whip softened cream cheese in a medium size bowl until it is creamy with no lumps.
  • Add white cheddar, bacon, cranberries, cilantro, and Worcestershire sauce and blend everything together.
  • Spoon mixture out onto a large piece of plastic wrap on the counter. Bring corners together and form mixture into a large ball. Place in a bowl and refrigerate for at least 3 hours until cheese ball becomes firm.
  • Once the cheese ball has set up, roll it in the chopped almonds until thoroughly coated.
  • Serve with sliced baguette bread or your favorite crackers.

EASY PEASY and oh so good!

What a great treat to serve your guests before the MAIN EVENT this week – the turkey or ham or WHATEVER dinner.    And while I’m at it, I wish all of you a very wonderful Thanksgiving celebration and if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving – have a super week ANYWAY (and try this recipe!).

It’s good to be King………!

Hugs, King Teddy

Friendly Fill-Ins

It’s Friday!  Can you believe it?   Amazing that time flies like it does……………and it’s time to do the fill-ins with our cohosts Four-Legged Furballs and 15andMeowing!     You know I like to switch things up with Mom – sometimes I let HER fill in and other times I do it myself……….or we might split the duty!    This is a great way to get to know each other more don’t you think????

Here are the sentences they gave us with blanks for this week and know what?   I let Mom do THREE and I did ONE!    My ONE is BLUE and her THREE are GREEN!!!!!

1. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into turkey and stuffing on Thanksgiving.   (my favorite things!)
2. I will pass on NOTHING on Thanksgiving.
3. I wish DELECTIBLES SQUEEZE-UPS (tuna!) was served at holiday gatherings.   (Mom says they WILL be on MY Thanksgiving plate – not hers!)
4. I will always be thankful for the life I have – I’ve been very fortunate.

Okee Dokee Mom – I’m going to hold you to your promise about those squeeze-ups……….I know you and Dad won’t be here for Thanksgiving dinner but if you leave me my squeeze-ups I’ll be happy as can be (oh and bring me back some turkey too please!).

The Thankful Duo of Mom and Teddy……………

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Hello Thursday and Hello Thankful Hop fans……………it’s the day of the week when we share our “thankful fors” with each other.    I’m super thankful that Brian hosts this Hop for all of us aren’t you?    I’m also thankful that Mom and Dad are starting to have nice cozy fires in the fireplace now that the weather has settled into cold most days.   I haven’t really appreciated the fireplace that much in my past two winters but this year – I enjoy staring into it and feeling the WARM on my face.

I’m also always thankful that Angel Sammy’s Poetic Thursday poem got here in time for today.    He transmits it from the Rainbow Bridge every Thursday and I share it with all of you.   Hopefully YOU share YOUR poem with all of us!

Hello Poetic Friends!

Greetings from the Rainbow Bridge………..I know I speak for all of us here when I say “WE MISS YOU” !!      Anyway, it’s Thursday and that’s the day we share poetry with each other.  Did you write one to go with the photo I gave you last week?   Good!  Let us know you wrote a poem in our comments so we can visit you and read it OK?    I have a lot of fun finding what I think are fun photos for you to use as inspiration for your poetry.    Shall we start?

Here’s the photo I gave you LAST Thursday…………..and the poem that I wrote to go with it…………………

“Be Bop and Hop”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©November 19, 2019

Humans express themselves in so many ways

They write books, and songs, and even write plays!

But they also come up with some amazing dances

Which can lead to bruises, sore muscles and sometimes – romances!

In eras past some dances were so “athletic”

My Mom says her attempts at those were quite pathetic!

She liked the slow dances – being close – holding on tight

Not performing gymnastic maneuvers that were quite a sight!

Jive, jitterbug, moon walk, polka, hip hop or twist

I could go on forever with a mighty long list

But one style remains and romance still survives

The “close to each other” slow dance beats out that jive!

Mom says all the dance crazes through the years she grew up in were fun but she remembers the slow dances most of all when the guys she would dance with could whisper in her ear, or pull her closer and she felt a lot more special than when she was dancing three feet away from someone hoping they wouldn’t trip her accidentally with a flailing arm or leg!   HAHAHA     What a picture that is.   I’m glad I am a cat and not expected to do any of that kind of stuff – I just sleep, eat and play peacefully!

So how about you?  Did you write a poem?   Good!   If you didn’t – give it a try next week why don’t you……………’s next week’s photo:

Interesting?  Yeah I thought so too……………..let’s have some fun with this one shall we?    We’ll meet here again – same time and day only NEXT week OK?

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Hugs from the Rainbow Bridge……………..Angel Sammy

Thank you for visiting us Angel Sammy………………….I like your poem………..I’m glad I don’t have to see Mom and Dad dancing like that around the living room but I admit once or twice they have “slow danced” in there……………I think it’s SWEET!

Hugs, Teddy
