Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday everyone – our day to be both Thankful and Poetic.    Thankful always comes first – it’s much more important anyway that we give thanks for all we have.   If you would like to join in the gang who gets thankful every week at Brian’s blog, please just click the badge above and link up with us.   Easy.    Share what you’re thankful for.   I know for us at my house, yesterday’s 9/11 remembrances reminded us again to be thankful for being safe and secure.   We hope nothing like the 9/11 tragedy ever happens again and are thankful that so very many people contributed to the rescue, rebuilding, and memorial efforts at all three locations that were devastated on that terrible day.   I say “people” but I actually should say “people and animals” because so many dogs helped find the living and the dead.

The Poetic part of today is thanks to Angel Sammy.    He always loved writing poetry (usually with Mom!) and even after he went to the Bridge he decided to carry on thanks to his wifi connection at the Rainbow Bridge by sending us an email containing his poem of the week based on the photos he gives everyone.   He tries to find some cool photos to spark everyone’s imagination then on Thursday everyone SHARES their poetry!    Here’s his email from last night:

Happy Thursday my Poetic Friends!

Time to gather together and share our poetry.    I look forward to Thursday every week because it’s so much fun to read what you’ve come up with based on the photos I give you; sometimes silly, sometimes serious, sometimes thought-provoking but I do try to mix things up and make it something for you to look forward to.

Which reminds me – just a little note about the photo that I will be giving you today for NEXT Thursday.    Next Thursday is a big day for pet bloggers because it’s “TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY”………there are always blog parties and costumes and lots of fun so I found a very cool “pirate themed” photo which will be your inspiration for NEXT Thursday’s poem.   I bet you all can come up with something interesting based on the photo I’ll give you AFTER I show you last week’s photo and my poem!   Ready?

“What The Heck IS That?”

poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©September 11, 2019

You say it’s called a velomobile?

Are you positively sure that it’s for real?

Recumbent bike with a cover on top

I guess you can’t speed and get stopped by a cop!

If it rains I suppose you won’t get all wet

But just imagine the strange looks you’ll get!

If you want to ride your bike in rain, sleet or snow

Just pop on the top and away you go!

You can make your own cover or buy one it seems

For gas-free transportation – the ride of your dreams!

For getting around in your neighborhood or small town

I suppose it’s the cheapest transport around!

No worries about maintenance, gas or oil

Your feet and legs get a workout as they toil!

My only question – which I hope you don’t hate…..

Is how the heck do you use this if you go out on a date?????

HAHAHA.   OK – I got silly but it was fun to write a poem about such a clever thing.   My Mom exercises on a recumbent bike at the gym where she belongs and loves it better than riding an actual bike.   She also said than when she and my Dad have been in Europe they saw quite a few of these – you could rent them for the day to get around on your own and they saw people riding them in the parks, streets, on the sidewalks.    So if you wrote a poem about this funny little “machine” – let us know you did in COMMENTS here so we can find your poem and enjoy what you thought as you look at the photograph!

Now here’s the photo for NEXT Thursday which as I said is “TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY”………………

Oh boy – this guy looks like a SERIOUS pirate doesn’t he.   I would not want to run into him on the high seas!   Let’s see what you do with this one……………………..

In the meantime, have a good week ahead………………I’ll look forward to seeing you next Thursday – same time, same place, same poetic fun.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Remember, love is forever…………..

Hugs, Angel Teddy

Thank you Angel Sammy!  I’ll look forward to hearing from you again next Thursday unless of course you visit me in my dreams!

Love, Teddy

  1. That certainly is a funny little vehicle. One thing is for sure, if I managed to get in I would never manage to get out again.

    • Your poem was totally fabulous…..the velomobile is a pretty cool bike isn’t it? As we said, Mom and Dad saw lots of them in Europe. I think maybe the electric scooters have taken over from the bikes though!

    • Thanks for the poetic compliments. I love Poetry Day – so many great poems being written and what fun it is to tie them to a photo. I have as much fun finding photos as I do writing poetry! Nice to see you!

  5. That’s a superb poem, Angel Sammy. We are going to show the velomobile to our neighbor. He has a recumbent bike, and we want him to make it into a velomobile – his two boys would love it.

  6. Teddy, we also pray that nothing like 9/11 ever happens again, but we are grateful for all those who worked so hard in rescue and memorial efforts. Angel Sammy, your poem is so clever for this image! I had no idea this was a velomobile, or what that was, but now I know and I’m incredibly intrigued. I also love that you chose a pirate image for next week. I can’t wait to write a poem for Talk Like a Pirate Day!

    • Talk Like A Pirate Day is a fun day in blogville…..There’s always some special event to dress up like a pirate for. Ellen of 15andmeowing send us the velomobile photo – she sees it in her neighborhood. They are pretty interesting and it’s amazing how fancy some of the “enclosures” are. Have a super weekend!
