WOW. Is it really Thursday already? This last week really flew by like crazy. Mom says time is doing that for her these days – flying. At any rate, we’re here to be thankful and then to share Angel Sammy’s poem this week and see yours too!
I don’t really have a “specific” thankful thing this week – I am just generally thankful. I have a comfy home, great big yard with lots of interesting woods to explore, and parents who love me. What more could I possibly want? I guess we all could come up with things that we WANT but as far as what I need – – – – I’ve got it!
Thanks to you too Brian for being our HOP-MASTER!
Now, onward to poetry………………here’s the email Angel Sammy sent me last night…………
♥♥♥
Ready for some poetry?
Happy Poetic Thursday everybody. I hope we might have some new poets out there who decided to give writing a poem a try. Those of you who DID, please let us know you wrote one in our comments and give us your link – we’ll HOP on over there and read it. I’m sure it will be fun – this week’s photo is definitely INTERESTING don’t you think?
Here’s my poem from the photo I gave you, and the photo again for those of you who see this post and decide “WHAT THE HECK – I’LL WRITE A POEM NOW!” – if you do, come back and tell us you did OK?
“Hairmagination”
Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell August 7, 2019
Imagine if I’d cut this hair long long ago
Then I wouldn’t be stepping on it with my toe!
Imagine if you can trying to wash this hair to keep it clean
Too bad I can’t take it off and toss it in the washing machine!
Imagine how hard it is to fix it in the morning
Or even move from room to room without sounding out a warning!
Imagine sitting on a bus and needing an extra seat for your hair
Or seeing a bald man in front of a wig store realizing that you have hair to spare!
Some might think this hair is beautiful and wish they had it on their head
But I’ve always wished that I was part cat so all this hair I could SHED!
I just can’t imagine what it would be like to have so much hair………..apparently in the Victorian age, many women did not EVER cut their hair. I’m sure they would braid it up and wrap it round and round their head so it wasn’t as “ungainly” as it looks in this photo but still……………….. HAD to be a pain to take care of it. You’d need to hire a person to carry your hair like a train on a fancy dress behind you. Or maybe take a baby carriage with you everywhere and rest your wad of hair in it to push along as you walked. All I know is that even though my Mom gets depressed sometimes that her hair is thin and straight and she’s lost a lot of it through the years, she would NEVER EVER wish she had hair like this – in her wildest “HAIRMAGINATION” !!!
Here’s next week’s poetic inspirational photo………………..have fun with it!
This photo ought to be a gem to write a poem about! I hope you’ll consider giving poetry a try. I think you’ll have more fun than you THINK you will……………………I’ll look forward to reading your poems next week. Meanwhile, have a good week everyone……………..remember your Angels are watching out for you……………24/7 !
Love Forever, Angel Sammy

Angel Sammy you sure made me giggle with your poem this week. When you showed this photo to us last week I just knew you’d have something FUN to say in your poem. Maybe one day I will give poetry a try.
Hugs, Teddy
It’s a bit crowded in next week’s photo. I was going for mild understatement there! 😀

Hmmmm…. are you sure that isn’t next week’s teaser photo? Looks like one of those overcrowded prisons I keep hearing about. What better way to keep inmates from escaping than to have so many people inside that they literally can’t move…

HA! Probably would have been a good Teaser photo…..I have to wonder if it’s SAFER or LESS SAFE if you were in a prison that’s this crowded……a little too close for comfort but not enough room for any unauthorized “soap” accidents or activities…..right?

If you dropped the soap there, I think it’s just going to stay on the ground…

Fun poem for that “hairy” photo, Angel Sammy! And, yes, Teddy, we DO have so much to be thankful for. I’m thankful that my pawrents returned home safely yesterday from a 2-day trip. AND, I’m thankful they were here with me when that horrible, scary storm came through. Yikes!
Wow, I wouldn’t want to be part of that crowd in the pic for next week’s poem…..

I know you were happy to have your Mom and Dad home – especially with a bad storm around. I always count on my parents to reassure me when I go flying to the basement for cover with a storm. Next week’s photo is SCARY isn’t it? All those humans in one place!

I know who’s gonna love next week’s poem…..and he’s probably playing with his trains as we speak! A Roomba would have a nervous breakdown trying to keep a house clean if the occupant had all that hair!! Mom and I loved your poem today. Bravo!

Teddy, your bow tie would be perfect in football season here in TN. AND you’d be covered up with compliments n how totally perfect you look! (and are)!
That poem is just right Angel Sammy. I kitty wonders why the women liked to grow their hair like that…what use it was to them.

Well Katie Mom tells me that back in Victorian times ladies used to do “hair embroidery” and make all sorts of fanciful things out of hair. I think it’s kind of yucky but maybe that’s part of why they did it. I bet we could google and find out but actually all we think is that it must have been a pain in the neck to take care of!!!!

I totally agree………I think I’d go into instant meltdown if I saw something like that. Actually I DID see something similar – the day we TRIED to come home from Paris after 9/11 – the airport was mobbed – everyone wanted to go home including us. We could NOT MOVE – waiting for word whether planes were flying or not – three days in a row of that crowd (with our suitcases in tow) only to find out NO PLANES YET. The day we finally DID get on a plane for home the airport was just as crowded but we didn’t care. Not one bit!

Long hair these days is beautiful – nobody would want to have hair like this lady’s these days I shouldn’t think – if it was straight and shiny and kept up most of the time and as long as hers maybe but curly, out of control, puffed up stuff would be TOUGH TO LIVE WITH!

That lady has beautiful and well-maintained hair, but Mom says all that weight must have given her lots of headaches. We bet it took her all day to get even one side of it brushed.

What a great title for your poem. We see you managed to work a cat into yours as well. Mom had a good laugh over the thought of this lady piling her hair in a baby carriage and pushing it along with her. Mom did write a poem. Here’s the link: https://thecatonmyhead.com/a-poem-thankfuls/

Teddy, we’re also so thankful that you have your parents and a purrfect home. You being happy makes us happy! And Angel Sammy, this image and your poem are both so fascinating! I can’t imagine trying to maintain that much hair. If mine grows much past my shoulders, I start getting frustrated with it. Purrs!

I guess Victorian ladies liked all that hair but remember too that “hair sculpture” and using hair like embroidery thread was very popular then. Maybe this lady was in to that?!
