Friendly Friday Fill-Ins

Standard

WOO HOO it’s FRIDAY!     The Blog Hop for today is Friendly Fill-Ins and our co-hosts, 15andMeowing and Four-Legged Furballs have provided us with FOUR sentences (two each) full of holes and we must fill those holes in.   Yep – that’s how it works.     It’s a great way to get to know more about your friends or make new ones – just click the badge above and go to 15andMeowing and link up with us.

Here are this week’s sentences and this week Mom and I BOTH filled in – – – her answers are RED and mine are BLUE…………

1. I could use some suggestions for how to climb a tree.   (Note:  Sometimes I chase something in my backyard like a chipmunk or a squirrel for instance and when they run UP a tree to get away, I can go about two feet up then plop back down on the ground…..not very graceful!)
2. I never refuse chocolate chip cookies.
3. I hope my freedom never changes. (Note:  I am lucky to go outside on a leash/harness and since I love outside so much, I’m hoping to always be able to spend some of my day out in the fresh air with Mom or Dad)
4. I would rate my happiness level a 10 out of 10.   (Note:  I feel blessed to be almost 72 and in reasonable shape – and to have a sweet husband and the most adorable cat EVER…..)
OK Mom…….I think we did pretty darn good.    As for me and tree climbing – it’s OK that I can’t go up further than 2 feet really because I’m afraid once I  would get up a tree, I couldn’t get back down again.    You told me once Angel Sammy did that – up he went but he couldn’t get down and Dad had to pry him off a tree up high, tuck him in his coat, and climb back down.    I’m afraid Dad wouldn’t be able to handle that these days.     That incident was 20 years ago when Sammy was a little baby!    EEEEK!    I’m happy to have four feet on the ground.

Happy Friday!

Hugs, Teddy and Mom

  1. Squirrels are sneaky like that! They always run up a tree.

I’ll tell you something else you may not know – seagulls always fly away when you almost reach the spot on the beach where they’re hanging out! It’s fun to make them fly though! 😀

    • Oh Clowie I’ve seen some videos of pups having a blast chasing seagulls….they seem to be pretty darn smart about how they handle it too. Now if we could FLY like them, they’d better hope they fly FASTER! HAHAHA

  2. I enjoyed the joint effort of the Fill-Ins today. I used to climb trees when I was a little kid… drove my Mom crazy. I think you should keep your four feet planted on the ground so you don’t find yourself up a tree with no way to get down! Agree with your Mom’s #2 and I think my happiness level is close to a 10… 🙂 Good Morning!

    • I used to climb trees too – never fell from one but then I wouldn’t go WAY UP high and probably would have survived a fall from the height that I preferred – no sense trying that out though right? I got in trouble only ONCE for tree-climbing….I was all of about five years old and I climbed a cherry (small one) tree in the backyard in Germany…..sat on a limb and ate cherries until she got sick. Lesson learned. LOL I’m glad that you are close to a ten in the happy department – we deserve that and THEN some!

      GOOD MORNING FLORIDAAAAAAADEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  3. I’m inside only and I’d be like you Teddy, I’d never make it back down I know. My mom said one of our cats, Robin, a svelte 7 pinup Tortie would go up them fairly often…maybe 20 or so feet, and after some hesitations sometimes, she’d back her way down. I recall Mom said she didn’t panic as she assumed Robin would make it back down. Bless her heart! You know what they say about “assume”.

    • I think it’s pretty cool that some cats are GREAT up in the trees – like Eric and Flynn used to be – they were “tree acrobats” !! We have it in our DNA I guess. Mom thinks either (a) I don’t go any further because I know the squirrels are WAY faster and more agile than I am, or (2) my big butt weighs me down so much I can’t go any further. I say it’s a combination of those things…..MAYBE. I’m not committing to anything yet – one thing Mom has taught me well is “NEVER SAY NEVER” !!! Good for Robin – she at least knew how to get back down safely.

  4. Teddy tell your mom I never ever NO never refuse anything with chocolate in it.
I can hardly walk and chew gum at the same time so needless to say I have no experience climbing trees!!

  5. Good morning, Teddy,
I totally agree with your Mom on #4! I feel the same. As to being outside: our kitties enjoy our yard without a harness – which, in turn, makes us somewhat nervous sometimes, especially my wife. But we’re reasonably sure they don’t leave the property. As to climbing trees: our two lazy males [well, half-male if you know what I mean] don’t really do that, but Savannah and Sister Fidelma do. They even go up onto the roof. And by now they’ve learned how to get down. Before, I had to get up a ladder quite a few times to get them down.
    Have a wonderful day,

  6. Thank you both for these great fill-in answers. Give up in the tree climbing though, you are safer on the ground. I like chocolate chip cookies too, but I have refused some I thought were pot laced 🙂
Now that is it legal in Mass. it is a concern. Have a wonderful weekend! XO

  7. I always try to climb trees, T. No luck. My happiest times are when storms come and some tree limbs fall down. I sniff them to death and it feels like I’m right up there in the treetops!! Woot!

        • Hi BellaDharma…..you know pain – especially constant pain – is very hard to deal with and it ages you from the inside out. Your LadyMew does not show her pain in her photos – she looks pretty! I am sure that because she has you, she lets that joy in her heart shine through in her photos too. You know it wouldn’t surprise me if you’re right about Siddhartha – he might have gone up that tree just so he’d get extra hugs!!!!

  9. Flynn was a very good tree climber and could come down as fast as he went up. Eric could go up all right, but was like a camel trying to get back down. Several times I had to help him. That usually entailed getting a dustbin lid then climbing up to the V in the tree, only about 6 feet up but plenty high enough when you are in your mid 50s! I would balance myself then hold the lid above my head for him to jump onto. That was no easy feat holding it as 23 pounds of ginger fur landed in it, and several times I got quite a bop on the head as he landed.
The next thing was persuading him that he didn’t want to sit in the lid but should get on the tree so we could both get back down.

    • Yikes! Now that sounds just a little scary (!) but very clever…..I can imagine 23 lbs. of cat landing on your head (essentially) was quite a whack! Poor Eric (and poor you)………so very smart of you to figure out how to give him a platform to get down on but OUCH! LOL Six feet high is plenty high I should think even though for Flynn it probably was a “piece of cake”. Some cats are just more agile than others up in the trees I guess. Sammy never did it again after his first time as a baby and David having to rescue him. Teddy doesn’t realize what he’s doing when he does it – I think that’s why he leaps on the tree then immediately pops back down. “WHOOPS! WHAT HAVE I DONE??!!”……………LOL

  10. We think your fill-ins get an A+ this week. Our dad feels the same way about Chocolate chip cookies. We think it is super that Mom Pam gives her happiness rating as 10 out of 10. Not too many people feel that way. Teddy. Mau and Misty May and some of our now angel fursibs used to climb trees all the time. Now that M and MM are older, they can’t be bothered. Seems you get enough excitement at ground level. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

    • I actually do have plenty to do DOWN HERE instead of UP THERE……I am positive that while I might make it UP a tree there’s no way I could get down unless I sprouted wings and even at that it would be a ROUGH LANDING!

  11. You and your mom filled in these fill-ins fantastically, Teddy! We’ll ask our neighbor kitty what suggestions he has for climbing a tree, Teddy, because he’s always climbing the trees in our yard. And I find it so inspiring to hear someone say that they would rate their happiness a 10 out of 10. What a wonderful outlook on life!

    • I was happy my Mom rated her happiness a 10 because I try to keep her happy (along with my Dad) all the time. She says life has a whole lot of HIGHS and LOWS but if you’re in the middle most of the time, that should be a HAPPY thing.
