Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Hello Friends!   Thursday is here – time to be THANKFUL on Brians’ Hop and time for Angel Sammy’s Poetic Thursday too.    First of all we will be thankful though – AND tell you that if you would like to join the Hop, click the badge above and link in with us.

This week we had a horrendous hailstorm – it was absolutely the worst (and noisiest!) thing we’ve had through here in ages.   It continued for a good 30 minutes too – with pea to quarter sized hail.   Totally covered our back deck and front sidewalk.   No trees down but lots and LOTS of leaves and of course Mom’s deck plants were ripped up pretty good.    THANKFULLY both our cars were in the garage but we just KNOW some people whose cars were parked outside and not inside had some dents.   YEEKS!

The bad weather didn’t keep Angel Sammy’s email to me from getting through though and I’m sharing it with all of you below.

♥♥♥

Here we are on a Thursday for some poetic fun!

Welcome to my little part of Teddy’s Thursday post every week.    We share some poetry together – poems we’ve written which have been inspired by photos that I give you every week.   Amazing what things come to mind when you look at a photo isn’t it?    IF you’ve written a poem for our photo from last week, let us know in Teddy’s comments will you?   We want to read your work!!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week followed by my poem:

“Noooooooooooooooo!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell     June 5, 2019©

Oh my goodness – no no no!

Pretty please don’t make me go!

I know I said I could be a BIG guy

But all I wanna do now is scream and cry!

This is scary and I wanna be strong

But going this fast has gotta be wrong!

I promise I’ll be good for the rest of the day

If once we’re off this thing we get FAR AWAY!

That little boy looks like he’s ever so sorry he got on that ride OR that he allowed his big sister to talk him into it in the first place………….AND I bet if we could see the face of the little person sitting in the seat behind him – it would look just like this little guy’s face OR WORSE!!!    Still, somehow it is still a cute photo – makes you wonder whether this little guy will ever get on a roller coaster again………I bet he does……..in the front seat with his girlfriend next to him and HE’s holding HER hand instead of his big sister’s.    Right?

I have a photo for you for next week………………and here it is!

Are these two cute or what?   Identical twins……so who will be the troublemaker and who will be the perfect little kid?   Hard to tell isn’t it.   I just think it’s an adorable photo.   Teddy knows that our Dad is a twin – not identical twin but twin nonetheless.   He and his brother, my Uncle, are close and while they are alike in many ways they are absolutely NOT alike in other ways.    I know we just had a photo with a kid in it (today’s!) but this was too cute to pass up – let’s see what we can do with it when we write a poem for NEXT week.

Until we meet again, be good to each other – and please always remember that your Angels – human and animal alike – are with you ALWAYS.   If you want to need someone to talk to – we’re THERE OK?    Forever.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Hugs, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

I like the photo for next week Angel Sammy……………………you pick the best photos for everyone!    I wish you and I had been identical twins – imagine the fun we would have given our Mom and Dad!!

Love, Teddy the Garden Cat

Five minutes is a long time for a couple of crazy Weims!!! I bet your eyes would be like saucers if you rode that thing – actually I bet your Mom and Dad’s eyes would be too!!!!!

OH, those poor squirrels! I hope they found a safe place to hide from the half hour hailstorm! I think the last hail I remember was when I was at a ballgame and couldn’t quite get underneath anything due to the crowd. Ouch… I’m glad it was only small hail…

I actually worried about all the squirrels with this hailstorm – their nests up in the trees are rather vulnerable and all that ice falling down HAS to rip parts of the nests down. I didn’t see any FALLEN nests though so that was good. I worry about ANYTHING stuck out in a hailstorm – it just went ON and ON and ON. We couldn’t believe it.

Another great poem, Angel Sammy! I used to love roller coasters when I was young, but no amount of money would persuade me onto one now.
That is a cute photo of the twins. It looks like one is a talker and the other is the listener, and they have been putting the world to rights.

  5. We’re glad you survived the hailstorm without much damage. Mom’s friend had $8,000 worth of damage on her new car when we had a hail storm a few months ago.

Yes indeed – it can do a WHOLE LOT of damage. When the hail here became LARGER we said that if it got any larger than a quarter it would definitely do some paint removal and denting on cars but it didn’t get that large. It just lasted FOREVER!

  6. I rode a roller coaster… once. Hail is awful. It has ruined a couple of our cars and resulted in a new roof a year before we sold our house. I am so sorry about your Mom’s plants and flowers Teddy. You have found a very nice place to spend some outside time!

Once is as much as many people ride those things – you just have no way of knowing just how out of control you feel until you DO. LOL I think if the hail had been just a bit larger there would have been a lot of damaged cars but everyone we know whose cars were OUT in it, said no damage. Whew!

That would be a purrrrrfect excuse to NOT ride those things – in fact, I’m surprised this little guy in the photo was tall enough for that ride…..actually when we googled “scared people on rollercoasters” some of the photos showed some adults in various stages of horror and disbelief too. I can find dirt to roll in no matter WHERE I go in our yard. Mulch is also good for rolling. Mom gets a little upset when I roll because whatever I’m rolling in sticks to the Velcro closures on my harness. HAHAHAHAHAHA

Have a super duper Friday and week-o-end!

My Mom did ride them when she was too young to know better (hahahahaha) – actually as long as she wasn’t in the front car she did well. We remembered you have twin grands – I’m sure they will be best friends forever. My Dad and his brother sure are besties.

  16. Saw this on Four-Legged Furballs, and a poem just popped right out of me! So i have followed your blog, and will try to write a poem for next week with the twins (my Sweetie and his Brother are identical twins).

Meanwhile, it’s too late for me to post this on my blog this week, but the poem your picture demanded i write was this:

Been waiting for this since I don’t know when,
We got into line at a quarter to ten,
She held me so tight, like a mother hen,
Sister, please, can we go again!

Oh I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this! It totally fits the inspirational photo too and it occurred to me that the little boy might be screaming with EXCITEMENT rather than fear. I love that photo though and next week’s is a cutie as well. Glad you will take a whack at Angel Sammy’s Poetry every week – it’s a lot of fun finding photos AND writing poems. You get an A+ and thanks for joining in the fun.

  17. Jeesh, T. The cars were the first things I thought of in the hailstorm story. Thank goodness they were safe and sound. Plants are much easier to replace than cars!

Oh yes they sure as heck are Cupcake…..Mom and Dad even decided that the battered plants will just come back more determined to grow so they are still in. We’ll always use our garage for cars – we use our basement and attic for STUFF. So many people use the garage for everything BUT cars.

Teddy, you look ever so content in your garden. We love your poem. We think it is funny that the little boy in your poem promised to be good for a day, and the one in ours, promised to be good for his whole life. Our kid must have been more frightened than yours. Mom’s grandmother (her dad’s mom) was a fraternal twin. Mom never met her twin brother. He died when he was young. Next week’s photo is going to be fun. We did write a poem. Mom’s on the iPad and doesn’t have the link. She’s pretty useless sometimes. We really loved your Mom’s poem this week – in fact this was a fabulous week for poetry as everyone seemed to have fun with that photo. We’re sorry that your Mom didn’t get to spend her life with her twin….that’s very sad. We look forward to seeing what you do with this cute twin photo though!

All of us here quite dislike those nasty hailstorms, too, Teddy. They’re just so loud and destructive. We’re glad your cars and trees are all safe! Angel Teddy, this image and your poem are exactly how I feel about roller coasters. They’re just a tad bit terrifying, if you ask me! Purrs, and we can’t wait to work with the new photo prompt!

Hail is so unpredictable….rain is rain but hail can be any size and shape and oh boy can it ruin a paint job, roof, siding and outdoor landscaping!!! As for roller coasters – they are “SCARYX2” !!!!!!
