Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Hello Hoppers!   Time to hook up with the Thankful Hop at Brian’s and all you need to do is click his badge above and link up – tell us what you’re thankful for!    Then after we do that, we can read the poem that Angel Sammy sent via his laptop at the Rainbow Bridge for us to read for his Poetic Thursday post.

What am I thankful for this week?   I’m thankful that this Sunday I will be celebrating how much I love my Mom and how much she and Dad have given to me since they adopted me.   I am loved…..I am spoiled, I am VERY HAPPY.    I am also not living in a shelter any longer like so many who would love to find their forever home.    Trust me – I am VERY thankful!

Here’s the email message I got last night from Angel Sammy – I’m also thankful for that!

Hello Poetry Fans and Friends!

It’s me – the Angel Poet – back again with a poem and another challenge for all of you for NEXT Thursday’s Poetic Thursday.     Your mission is to write a poem based on the photo I will give you later and to let us know in comments you wrote one so we can go read it on your blog!    Now I hope you’ve done that THIS WEEK too – have you?    Good – we’d love to read it so let us know.

Here’s the photo I gave you for inspiration LAST Thursday – with my poem – then I’ll give you a photo for next Thursday.

“Splash”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell       ©May 8, 2019

Leisure ride in a raft anyone?

Lazy river and having fun?

Don’t choose falls rafting if that’s your thing

Frightened rafters screams will make your ears ring!

Stretches of calm water will allow you to rest

Before the next falls where you MUST do your best!

Keeping the raft upright with all hands in the raft

It’s a real challenge so you must learn the craft

If you know what you’re doing and you’re prepared for the thrill

Then climb aboard for the time of your life – is screaming a “skill” ????

Mom says you will never find her aboard a white water raft – not even when she was younger – old truck inner tube floating down the river like I told you last week – that was her thrill in “her day” !!   I know that many people enjoy rafting and if the water was nice and calm and you could have a leisurely float with no rough water, then she MIGHT hop on board a raft.   MIGHT!

So, here’s what I have for you for next week’s poetry inspiration………………..I think it’s another one with great possibilities don’t you?

This will be a fun one don’t you think?     Well, let’s make a date then to get together again next Thursday and we’ll share what we’ve written that’s been conjured up in our creative heads for this photo shall we?

In the meantime, remember LOVE MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND………….it also makes the RAINBOW BRIDGE GO ROUND!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Angel Hugs, Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy for visiting with us – you may be far away but I feel you near me all the time…………………………..

Love, Teddy

  1. Great poem, Angel Sammy! I went white water rafting with my mum when I was a child (about 12 I think) and I loved it. Time dulls the memory but I don’t remember having a paddle. I think it was army commandos in charge and they were taking passengers down the rapids. I do remember getting soaked though and wanting to do it again. It’s definitely not for me now!

    • Oh Clowie…..of course you wanted to rescue – that’s the way you would think and I’m sure your biped appreciated the thought – good thing you resisted the temptation though!

  3. Teddy darling, I know how happy you are in your home and I sure know how happy your mom and dad are that you are there. Angel Sammy made the best poem today, didn’t he? Mom said she never earned to swim so she’d be a poor candidate to try that fun on a raft. 🙀

    • Oh my – definitely your Mommy should NOT NOT NOT do the rapids thing even with a lift jacket on – it would be too scary. My Mom swims and SHE wouldn’t do it either! EEEEEEEK!

  4. You are blessed to have a wonderful mom and dad Teddy. Excellent poem from Angel Sammy. You would never see me on a raft like that either. Have a wonderful day! XO

    • Floating on a quiet river would be wonderful – I love being on the water – but the white water rafting probably would give me a heart attack…..LOL…….maybe it’s because you really can easily lose control if you don’t know what you’re doing (which is often the case with ME!).

    • We know some too – I bet we could fill up one of those gigantic rafts with those peeps or even better how about one of those gigantic 10 story cruise ships – wouldn’t that be cool to watch – “LOOK OUT BELOOOOOOWWWWWWW!” right over the Falls!

  6. Angel Sammy we sure like your poem and Dad says that a good yell or scream adds to the fun of adventures. We are not so sure. Great thankful Teddy. We are all glad to have love and a wonderful forever home. Purrs till next week. Dad oversleeped today so we did not post a Thankfur.

    • I think the kid in front of that raft in the photo is following your Dad’s advice! He’s right though – a little squeal or scream or MEOWOW adds a little something extra.

  7. White water river rafting is definitely not something our Mom would ever do. But we are daredevils – always looking for a new adventure:0

  8. Maybe I’ll be able to tell you about my experiences in rafting after I’m back from Alaska. “Ms. Pit” and I will celebrate our 10th anniversary in Alaska [Denali] in August and we’ll do rafting there, too – among other things.Maybe I need to learn your poem by heart so that I can quote it. 😉

    • Oh what FUN you have Mr. Pit. Have a wonderful time in Alaska for your anniversary!! My Mom and Dad will take a trip NEXT year for their 30th anniversary – maybe to Holland on a river cruise. No rafting though!

      • We are really looking forward to that trip very much. 🙂 And after that, I’ll certainly blog about it. And I’m sure that your Mom and Dad are already looking forward to their anniversary trip. I never did a river cruise in Holland, but a lot of sailing. Oh these memories! 🙂
        Have a wonderful weekend y’alls,

  9. Another great poem, Sammy. We cats deftly would never take up rafting as a hobby. Mom opted for a haiku this week. Mom says she thinks floating in an inner tube does sound relaxing; though, she’s never had the opportunity to try it. Here’s the link to our post: https://thecatonmyhead.com/we-were-first/

    • Your Mom’s haiku was purrfect and again we thank you for always playing with poetry along with us every week. It’s a lot of fun isn’t it. The tube floating thing was a whole lot of fun back in those days Mom said – and once in a while they would see a manatee under the river water too. I’m sure nobody is allowed to do tubing on that river any longer though.

  10. Teddy, you and your mom and dad are all so blessed to have each other. You are such a purrfect family! Angel Sammy, your poem is also purrfect! This here human took lessons in the past on kayaking and canoeing, but white water rafting seems so scary. Oh, and this here human is a huge fan of anything Western, so the new photo prompt has me extra excited!
