Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Happy Thursday!    Thankful one too……and we are always thankful just to arrive at another Thursday.   Time moves so quickly – my Mom and Dad said so!!    I’m thankful that SO FAR when they say “snow” it hasn’t – BUT I think that my luck is running out because we could get 6-9 inches of it this weekend.   EEEK.   I’ll try to be thankful for how pretty it is when it falls though.    It’s the least I can do.     If you’d like to share your THANKFULS on Brian’s Hop, just click his badge above and join us!

Now, one more bit of business to conduct THEN I’ll show you the poem Angel Sammy emailed me last night from the Rainbow Bridge.    Yesterday’s TUESDAY TEASER TELL ALL we missed out on a cheer from the School Cheer Team – why?   Because they always have a tough time with a cheer when there are a BUNCH of winners.   We had FOUR FIRST COMMENTERS and – well – they were writing a cheer but fell asleep in their hot tub.   SHAME ON THEM – so we didn’t have their cheer in time for class.    Here’s the cheer they came up with.

This is tough writing about FOUR Firsties!
Good thing we’ve got a refrigerator cuz writing makes us thirsty!
Sharon, Carole, Charles and Jackie
If there’s been any more we would have gone wacky.
Congrats to you guys for being so FAST
You all got in before sixty seconds passed!
Bravo, woo hoo, and a great big yippy
Now pass us a brewski so we can have a big sippy!

Gosh, I’m not sure this particular cheer was WORTH waiting for!

Now onward to the second half of today’s blog which is sharing Angel Sammy’s THOROUGHLY POETIC THURSDAY poetry.

Happy Poetry Day Everyone!

Did you write one this week?  Oh I hope you did!    It’s a pretty funny photo and hopefully it inspired some of you to write a poem – maybe for the first time or maybe not but at least I hope you had fun with it.    Every Thursday I give you a photo to inspire you to write a poem – – – and at the end of my poem today you’ll get another photo for NEXT Thursday!     If you’ve written a poem this week, let us know in Comments and we’ll come visit you to read it.

“Poor Pitiful Me”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell     January 9, 2019

I can’t believe this is the only costume they had

I wouldn’t be in this fix if I’d listened to my Dad!

He told me to go pick a costume up way before the party

But as usual I ignored him thinking I was such a smarty.

Now here I sit on the sidewalk while people laugh and stare

I might as well be sitting here in my underwear!

I’m gonna be late for the party now and my girlfriend’s gonna fuss

Because my costume was too big and they couldn’t push me into the bus!!!

HAHA…….I know it’s shorter than usual but I couldn’t resist……… just “came to me”…………….this guy looks just so darn miserable doesn’t he?   Maybe it’s summer and he can’t breath inside that thing so he’s taking a break from some kind of job where he has to wear that “Big Scrat” costume…..WHATEVER is going on it’s not good.   But it did make for a fun photo to use to write a poem about.

So here’s your photo for NEXT week – let’s see what we can all do with this one shall we??

Yep – I think I’ve found another goodie for us to play around with right???   Right!     So, put your best poetry ideas to paper inspired by this photo and share with us next Thursday.   C’mon – you can do it.  If I can, you can.

Meanwhile, hope you all are well and happy.    All is well at the Rainbow Bridge – that should be no surprise to you – things are always perfect here!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Hugs and Love to You All !    Angel Sammy

I like this one Angel Sammy……..that guy in the costume is totally NOT happy but it sure makes for a fun poem.    I’ll look forward to hearing from you  next week my Angel Brother.

Hugs, Teddy

  1. How can anyone be sad wearing a squirrel costume? It would be great for trick or treating. Walk up to the door and ring the doorbell… have the owner of the house tap on the window and tell you to GO AWAY, they only give out candy to the birds. Move along to the next house where that owner chases you off of their lawn with a BB gun. Then try to cross the street to the next house only to get run over because you kept running back and forth and back and forth to try to avoid a car. OK, maybe the squirrel costume isn’t such a good idea…

    • I think you’ve just discouraged anyone and everyone from even considering a squirrel costume – one has to imagine a cat seeing a squirrel that size thinking it hit the mother lode though! HAHAHA

    • LOVE LOVE LOVE your poem today – this poor guy definitely feels like he’s made a bad choice – I really felt bad for him when I saw this photo regardless of what the story behind the photo is!! Thanks for sharing your fab poem with us….next week will be a hoot!

      Hugs, Pam

  2. LOVE the cheer! Our names are all twinkling in lights now. Thank you team! Angel Sammy, you da bomb. You never fail! Super poem and probably right, right down to the last word you wrote. And the line of ladies under dryers really made my mom smile. She said she was sure glad those days are in the distant past. (distant past is when she was born).

    • Hi Katie! Concatulations to you and your Mom for getting a badge this week with the Teaser AND I’m sure Angel Sammy was glad you liked his poem today. We think the photo for next week is a hoot and my Mom TOTALLY remembers sitting under those stupid dryers FOREVER waiting to look glamorous afterwards and being disappointed that she never was! HAHAHAHAHAHA

      Love, Teddy

  3. That was a fun poem and that photo for next week should be fun too. I hope your weather forecasters are wrong on the snow stuff Teddy. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  4. Great cheer! You all deserve a beer 🙂 I wondered why there was no cheer yesterday.
Excellent poem, I had not that of that scenario. And cool photo for next week. I can picture my mom in one of those chairs getting her beehive in the 70’s.XO

  5. Mom was having a good giggle reading your poem this morning, Sammy. Picturing that guy sitting there in his underwear instead of the costume, maybe still wearing those big old feet. MOL! We do think the cheer team needs to get their act together. Too many brewskis and too much hot tub time makes for a soggy brain. We are praying that none of us get too much snow. • Yeah the snow thing is looking more and more likely and I’m not happy about that. Mom isn’t either because WACKY DAD insists on using the snowthrower which he has NO BUSINESS wrestling with. Oh well – whatchagonnado? The Cheer Team is all about fun – we can’t get them serious EVER – so it’s either live with them like they are OR fire them and since they’re not salaried, firing wouldn’t do any good! Ya just gotta love ’em!

      Hugs, Teddy

    • Thanks Cupcake – I probably won’t be going outside beyond the front porch after the snow if it’s “belly height”……if it’s a little bit I will tippy toe around on the sidewalk though. I’m still hoping NO SNOW but I think the chances of that are ZERO.

Hugs from the Ted A Nator and his Mom A Nator

    • HAHAHAHA…….good thought on the squirrel guy – maybe he was chased down the street by some HUGE dogs! Poor guy…………my Mom remembers those huge hair dryer contraptions in the old timey beauty parlor. She used to sit and sit and sit while the ladies worked on 15 other people before they remembered SHE was sitting under the dryer getting FRIED. LOL

      Hugs, Teddy

  7. We’re expecting snow, too, Teddy. And we agree with you – it sure can be cold, but it’s also so very pretty as it falls to the ground. Angel Sammy, your poem is so much fun! This image was a challenge, but most certainly a fun one at that. Next week’s image will surely be just as fun to work with! Purrs!

  8. That was a fun poem from Angel Sammy.
I remember sitting in the row of chairs under those hairdryers. Sometimes it felt like you had been forgotten and your hair would catch fire. Thankfully it never did.

    • HAHAHA…..funny you mention that feeling of wondering if your head would blow up – I really did think that once in a while – my head would get SO HOT and even though they’d sometimes remember (!) to come check me – I felt like it was their way of just keeping me occupied while THEY took care of more customers!!

      Hugs, Pam

    • Imagine that thing being worn in Florida???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Now up here I imagine it might be comfortable in winter but oh the looks you’d get strolling down the street!!!!!

      Hugs, Pam
